[Bug 811643] [NEW] RFE: external mail filtering
Public bug reported: Ahead of the proposed move from Evolution to Thunderbird as default mail client for Oneiric, I've tried it out for myself for a week. I like that it is much faster and allows one to remove/hide unnecessary features like calendars and printing. (the tab bar can't be removed though it seems). One (imho) essential feature that Thunderbird is missing though is the ability to run incoming mail through an external filter. There is an option to heed SpamAssassin headers, but no option (and no plugin either that I could find) to get those SA headers from any source other than the mail server. Thunderbird has its own spam filtering built in, but it is simply not as good as the real thing. ** Affects: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/811643 Title: RFE: external mail filtering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/811643/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 668392] Re: HP / LG blu-ray drive gets softreset failed errors on 64 bit but not 32 bit
I also have an ASUS M4A88TD-M EVO motherboard (AMD SB800) and LG CH10LS20 bluray drive combination. Booting Ubuntu (Maverick) is very slow due to the softreset failed errors. They cause the drive to lock up so hard that (after a warm reboot) even the BIOS doesn't detect it anymore and the tray won't open or close. Only a cold reboot remedies that. The suggested fix of adding libata.force=#:nohrst to the boot options worked for me too. The drive is now detected and working properly. I've edited the bug's title to make it easier for LG owners to find it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668392 Title: HP / LG blu-ray drive gets softreset failed errors on 64 bit but not 32 bit -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 657576] [NEW] maverick / radeon: repeated errors during boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg As you can see in the attached dmesg log, an error message from radeon / ttm is repeated many many times during boot (i.e. before the login screen appears). These errors flash by too fast to read them, so it looks as if the display is broken or something. I also see some suspicious messages about remounts and some IRQ that I didn't get before Maverick, but they're probably not related directly to this radeon thing. [Bug 534747] Re: Sound is randomly replaced with noise
Yes, I made the requested log. Sorry for the delay. Evolution got stuck checking for mail again. During the logging, I tried to play some music using Rhythmbox, play some event sounds from Pidgin's preferences dialog, and watch a video with MPlayer (from command line, not GUI). The only time the sound wasn't just the noise was the first time I unpaused the music (after the Pidgin experiment); then I heard the music for maybe half a second. I tried to wait a bit before the MPlayer experiment, but that didn't help. Strange, because an hour ago I could watch video with MPlayer just fine (although no event sounds happened to mess things up). [Bug 534747] [NEW] Sound is randomly replaced with noise
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio Sounds (such as system sounds, or Pidgin sounds) and music (Rhythmbox) are randomly, but very often, replaced with low-volume crackling noise. This began earlier today when I upgraded to the latest Lucid Pulseaudio packages and a 2.6.32 kernel. It's not that sound doesn't work at all. It does work a few times (sounds) or for a while (music), but then just disappears into that noise. Then after I wait a while, and no sound has played, it will work correctly again for a bit before disappearing again. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it unfortunately, and I see no error messages in /var/log/syslog either. PA Volume Control shows the sounds and/or music playing as they should too, even when they don't. Versions: Pulseaudio: 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu11 Kernel: 2.6.32-16 amd64 I'll attach the output of 'pactl'. [Bug 216197] Re: no weather information in gnome panel
The clock doesn't show weather info for me either, even though the checkbox is marked. My city (Leiden, Netherlands) isn't listed, so I have to enter the timezone and coordinates manually. The closest weather info is from Valkenburg, Netherlands, but that info is not shown when I enter my city. Conversely, I do get weather info when I choose Valkenburg, Netherlands, but then I can't change the location name and coordinates anymore. The dialog allows me to edit them, but it simply disregards my edits when I click Okay. The applet should either allow me to specifiy both my own location and the weather info to use, or select the closest weither info automatically. I think this is a regression from some earlier version, because my old installation (upgraded in place over the years from warty or something like that all the way to jaunty) does show both the correct location and weather info. -- no weather information in gnome panel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216197 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 216197] Re: no weather information in gnome panel
Oh, I found the solution (which is probably also what I used on the old installation). Using gconf-editor, you can edit the key /apps/panel/applets/clock_screen0/prefs/cities. The 'code=' field of it was set to '(null)'. After changing that part to 'EHVB', the clock applet now shows both the correct location (Leiden) and weather info (from Valkenburg). [Bug 207700] Re: Doesn't allow bold/italic selection on Japanese fonts
Is that the same version as is currently in the Intrepid repository? That's the version I use: 2.4.7-1ubuntu1 The fonts in the xfonts-efont-unicode-ib package are listed as h14_bi.pcf, h16_b.pcf, etc., both by the Gimp and other programs, so I suppose that's because they don't have proper names. Selecting one of them has no effect on how text typed in the Text Editor dialog is displayed however. Not for text in Latin alphabet nor for text in kana or kanji. Selecting a different font (say, 'DejaVu Sans') only affects the Latin text, not the kana or kanji characters. 'DejaVu Sans Bold Oblique' would result in the Latin text becoming bold and italic, but the kana/kanji text remains unchanged. The font selector in for example the Gnome Control Center has a separate list of font styles (as opposed to including them in the font name). That means that when I select 'Italic' in that list, that style is applied to the text in the rendered sample, regardless of the characters used. This is what I would like to be able to do in the Gimp too. Does this explain the issue more clearly? [Bug 202288] [NEW] Loses sound when seeking or when switching language
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I've only noticed this yet in .mkv movies (which Nautilus reports as 'Matroska' something or other I think). When starting Totem (the gstreamer variant that is) with the video, it will play it okay, but with some default language selected. The same thing happens when seeking in the movie, whether it is using the keyboard or the scroll wheel or dragging the position slider (BTW, isn't there supposed to be a Seek To: hh:mm:ss dialog available somewhere? Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution In version 2.11.6, Evolution suddenly started to add a notice of This message was sent by [mailing list] on behalf of [sender]. Well of course it was. I know it is coming from a mailing list, I even sort my incoming mail by that. I don't need this extra notice. It takes up two additional lines in an already small message display area. Can you please remove this unnecessary notice, or at least provide a way to turn it off? ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- RFE: remove 'message sent on behalf of' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129587 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 62931] Re: crashes after some time: too many files opened
Well, I've actually been using Firefox now for months, so I'm not sure what Galeon does these days. As i said above though, the problem disappeared with upgrading Flash from version 7 to version 9. If you want more info, you'll have to find someone who still uses Galeon and Flash 7 instead of Firefox and Flash 9. -- crashes after some time: too many files opened https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62931 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 71106] Chipset 0x5964 is not recognized
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx Package xorg-driver-fglrx_7.1.0-8.28.8+2.6.17.5-11_i386.deb works just fine with my video card (recognized as an ATI Radeon 9200 SE (RV280)). After upgrading to xorg-driver-fglrx_7.1.0-8.30.3+2.6.19.1-1_i386.deb, I get this error: (EE) fglrx(0): Chipset 0x5964 is not recognized (EE) fglrx(0): PreInitConfig failed - and then X aborts. Downgrading back to the older version makes things work again, so I'm pretty sure this is the responsible package. Will attach xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log from both versions. ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.19 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Chipset 0x5964 is not recognized https://launchpad.net/bugs/71106 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 38181] Re: Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE)
Hmm. I just woke up to a hung system, even though I disabled all GL screensaver hacks. Must have been ZSNES then (it was in one of the OGL modes). Guess I'll have to disable 3D accelleration altogether again :( Darn, just when I thought it finally worked again in Edgy.. -- Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE) https://launchpad.net/bugs/38181 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 38181] Re: Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE)
Ah, I've finally found the right bug # for this. This problem has been around for a long time for me, and still prevents me from using 3D screensavers. Other GL apps seem to work okay, although I haven't tested this a lot. Both the xscreensaver-demo previews and the actual screensaving freeze the system randomly. Sometimes it takes longer, sometimes shorter, but eventually they all freeze the system. No ctrl-alt-key combination works to get a clean shutdown, only the reset or power-off buttons work. My videocard is identified as a ATI Radeon 9200 SE (RV280). Package versions are from current Feisty (==Edgy, since it's only been a few days since that release). Let me know if you need copies of config files, okay? -- Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE) https://launchpad.net/bugs/38181 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 62931] Re: crashes after some time: too many files opened
This seems to have cleared up now. I think it was the upgrade to Flash 9 that did it. -- crashes after some time: too many files opened https://launchpad.net/bugs/62931 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Here's the kernel module I made from version 0.7.6-1. The a href=http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/Linux Wacom Project/a lists this version as stable, so I suppose it will be included in Ubuntu soon. ** Attachment added: Wacom kernel module 0.7.6-1 http://librarian.launchpad.net/4936142/wacom.ko -- Wacom Volito 2 tablet doesn't work https://launchpad.net/bugs/61662 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 62931] crashes after some time: too many files opened
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: galeon After using Galeon some time (an hour or so? sometimes shorter if I do a lot of page refreshes), it either crashes or becomes unresponsive. [Bug 62931] Re: crashes after some time: too many files opened
Yep, Epiphany has the same problem. It opens the file /usr/share/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8/Compose a gazillion times (once for every link clicked I think?) and then crashes. The gdb backtrace is much larger this time, so I attached it. Oh, and another thing I noticed is that my /tmp directory contains a gazillion orbit-kimiko-random hex number/ subdirs. Might be related perhaps? ** Attachment added: gdb output for Epiphany http://librarian.launchpad.net/4541389/epiphany.gdb -- crashes after some time: too many files opened https://launchpad.net/bugs/62931 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
