[Bug 1338815] Re: htop is no more included in trusty (14.04) for armhf

2014-07-09 Thread Popolon
Found it in Universe, so to resolve this issue :
* edit /etc/apt/sources.list must be edited :
* uncomment universe related line
* apt-get update
* apt-get install htop

That's done.

Strange that packages.ubuntu.com only reference x86/amd64 architectures
now...

[Bug 1303222] Re: synaptic crashed with signal 7 in _int_malloc()

2014-06-08 Thread Popolon
I had the same problem with an upgrade from 13.04 to 14.04 on a laptop
with 4 GB of RAM. I hopefully looked at the output console during the
crash alert, and this was related to a font installation, that is
already a good clue. Don't know which one, could be a chinese one, as
it's used on this system.

After upgrade tool crashed, I tried to restore some coherent state on
the system. then I launched synaptic from a term, and mostly everything
is frozen with lot of erros about gtk in the term. I can't log anymore
from the pure text console (ctrl+alt+f1) and X11 is frozen since at
least 10 minutes

[Bug 380665] Re: straight line upper-left corner to pointer

2012-09-28 Thread Popolon
There is still a problem on Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise) version, package
gromit 20041213-9

at the first drawing (first press of the mouse button) a straigth line
start for the up left corner of the screen to the press button point,
and then follow the mouse until mouse button is released.

At second drawing (press again left mouse button), a line come from the
last point (where the mouse button was released) to the clicked point
and then drawing follow the mouse until the button is released.

etc..

There is clearly a state management problem. at each new mouse button
down event, the first point of the line should be the same that the last
: the current position), and then should become the first point and next
position the last point of the next line...

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ibus-hangul

In non qwerty keyboard (I use french azerty keyboard), the standard
disposition for hangul keyboard is not keept, it swap characters

The good disposition should be local keyboard independant :

Tested with last ibus-hangul method in ubuntu and last updates of ibus
from ibus official site the problem is the same, I suppose this is a

[Bug 571414] [NEW] after lowering screen resolution, gnome menu doesn't match what is clicked

2010-04-28 Thread Popolon
Public bug reported:

Important Informations : With nvidia proprietary display driver, I've lot of
application launcher in gnome menu bar and the bug is in Karmic and Lucid.
The bug could be in X.org, but I believe this is more gnome menu bar that
doesn't update correctly when screen resolution is changed.

1. my screen is in native monitor resolution : 1920x1080
2. I go to system=preferences=screen (using nvidia or gnome screen manager).
3. I choose a lower resolution : ex, 800x600

[Bug 424620] Re: X.org doesn't hotplug wacom serial tablets

2010-03-15 Thread Popolon
This patch works perfectly. I didn't tryed with my pen I lost (this is
the second in few time), but at least wacom 4D mouse works perfectly.

I hope it will be backported on karmic kernel or at least lucid one for
next release.

[Bug 424620] Re: X.org doesn't hotplug wacom serial tablets

2010-03-15 Thread Popolon
I forgot to write that I tested with the linux-image-2.6.34-999-generic
(if someone else is interested). Saddly it doesn't support my graphic
card (GeForce 6100), I'm limited to 800x600 with this kernel). So I hope
it will backported to mainstream one, to avoid a recompilation for every
security update.

[Bug 482447] Re: serial wacom not detected in Karmic

2009-11-14 Thread Popolon
I hope I found a source of the problem, after doing more comparison
between behavior with my USB tablet and my serial tablet.

udev rules for wacom are only for usb devices.

then no wacom or new 'event*) appear in /dev/input/ when I only plug the
usb-serial adapter of my tablet.

/dev/ttyUSB0 by, I suppose : /lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-
serial.rules

but /lib/udev/rules.d/40-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules does not match.

[Bug 482447] [NEW] serial wacom not detected in Karmic

2009-11-13 Thread Popolon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wacom-tools

Related to #424620 in Jaunty.

On Karmic, modify xorg.conf doesn't works anymore to access to serial
tablet.

wacdump still detect the serial tablet attached at ttyUSB0:
MODEL=Wacom Intuos 9x12 ROM=1.1-7
CLS=Serial  VNDR=Wacom  DEV=Intuos  SUB=GD-0912-R
But this table is even not seen as a classic cursor tablet.

Could this be related to HAL ?
There is a file : /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/10-linuxwacom.fdi
Is a link to : /etc/hal/fdi/policy/ needed ? Is there some serial number to add
in this file ?
Every information is welcome.

[Bug 481283] [NEW] xsane and xscanimage crash on 64bit karmic with epson2 driver

2009-11-12 Thread Popolon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libsane-extras

After upgrading to Karmic (9.10), Epson Stylus photo RX620 can't be used
with xsane or xscanimage, both crash with segfault, printing still works
fine.

Could be related to bug #206040 ???

I tried to force purge and reinstall, rm ~/.sane but it still crash.
there are no debug symbols, even after libsane-dbg and libsane-extras-
dbg package installation.

Here is the result with gdb

[Bug 348040] Re: blender 2.48a crash when using ffmpeg output

2009-09-09 Thread Popolon
There was a related bug related corrected in 0.49b release of blender
(released september 3), I suppose that karmic you use and that is still
in developpment followed this version.

Anyway, I switched to getdeb version few time after this bug report (mars 24
2009), about 6 month ago, before Jaunty was released as stable, without any
answer since. This is a good workaround for everyone:

[Bug 424620] Re: X.org doesn't hotplug wacom serial tablets

2009-09-07 Thread Popolon
In dmesg, at 2271.794995, I unpluged the converter (it was well detected
by lsusb, but no ttyUSB0 was created), and repluged it one line later,
at 2273.512192. the PL2303 was not seen before in the dmesg.

In this case I used kernel 2.6.30 from a ppa (for ext4 stability), but
the problem was the same with official 2.6.28 kernel.

linux-image-2.6.30-020630-generic 2.6.30-020630

This is why for I need to unplug/replug before X start.

[Bug 424620] Re: X.org doesn't hotplug wacom serial tablets

2009-09-07 Thread Popolon
This is the lspci. I booted with a standard ubuntu X.org config, to
generate this two files and explain more deeply the source of the
problem.

The detail of the device (could be an hardware problem on the device or
motherboard) :
(I made a mistake in my previous comment, it was not detected in lsusb) before
I unplug/replug it.

Anyway an hotplug detection by X.org of serial tablet (via usb or direct
serial) could be better for the overall hotplug system. I suppose some
other serial devices has the same kind of hotplug problem.

wacdump /dev/ttyUSB0 see immediatly the model of my wacom :
MODEL=Wacom Intuos 9x12 ROM=1.1-7
CLS=Serial  VNDR=Wacom  DEV=Intuos  SUB=GD-0912-R

Then this can be autodetected.

[Bug 424620] Re: X.org doesn't hotplug wacom serial tablets

2009-09-07 Thread Popolon
Here the xorg.conf that allow to use my serial-usb converter + serial
tablet config.

As the hw problem of my usb-serial converter, only occur at computer
turn on time, and I only want to reboot, I disconnected the usb-serial
converter, booted without it, wait for error msg replugged it to finish,
as I've to do at each boot.

The best solution should really to be able to boot without tablet and
hotplug detection as for other, I don't want to use it all the day, and
then don't want to put it on all the day. In all case, I must, with this
xorg.conf, unplug/replug it at first boot time, and unplug it after
X.org boot. let it connected for reboot or plug it before reboot is fine
too.

The X.org.0.log error log finish with this kind of error (about the same
for each of the 3 configured device):

Last informations addition :
In first comment, I made a mistake:
Zippy Technology Corp. is my USB keyboard, not the converter
Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 is the converter, it use usbserial generic
usbserial module).

Mypaint (that is in official debian packages, since one week or two, not
in ubuntu for now), enable and autodetect all wacom like input device by
default, it could be good to have the same thing in Inkscape and Gimp,
instead of having the new user and other that forgot since the last
configuration that there is to enable them in preferences before it
works. I would probably add a bug report in Inkscape part of the tracker
?

[Bug 424620] [NEW] X.org doesn't hotplug wacom serial tablets

2009-09-04 Thread Popolon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-wacom

On Jaunty,
Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04

I've a little USB volito Wacom and a big serial Intuos (GD-0912-R) graphics
tablets, connected via serial-USB adapter (my computer doesn't have serial
port).

The second one is sold really cheap by windows users because there are
no more supported on their systems.

USB volito hotplug works perfectly, nothing to configure in X.org.
USB-serial cable + serial wacom hotplug doesn't work.
I need to configure the device in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
The problem is if the wacom is plugged before the system boot, it's not
detected, and as hotplug doesn't work, I can't plug it after X.org has booted.
If the device isn't present at X.org starting, I've a text screen giving me
several solution to fallback from X.org failure.
Then I've to plug the device just after Linux kernel boot, but before X.org
start.

If X.org could hotplug detect it, it could be better.

My USB=serial cable device is :
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 099a:7160 Zippy Technology Corp.

It is well detected if usbserial mod is loadad :

[57054.204054] usb 2-4: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 5
[57054.407463] usb 2-4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[57054.521015] USB Serial support registered for pl2303
[57054.521061] pl2303 2-4:1.0: pl2303 converter detected
[57054.562419] usb 2-4: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0
[57054.562459] usbcore: registered new interface driver pl2303
[57054.562466] pl2303: Prolific PL2303 USB to serial adaptor driver

The tablet is even not seen as a standard mouse (as USB wacom are, if
the driver is not well configured).

[Bug 353005] Re: flv with h264 and mp4a codec not supported

2009-08-09 Thread Popolon
This is due to an old version of ffmpeg used inside this version of
mplayer, this is fixed in karmic
(seehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mplayer/+bug/347021 ) and
should be fixed in jaunty. FFmpeg was corrected long time before jaunty
goes out, but this was not patched. Only ffmpeg/ffplay package have been
patched.

[Bug 403939] Re: Mplayer can not play back some of videos ripped from youtube

2009-08-09 Thread Popolon
This is the case on 32bits and 64bits jaunty, this is due to an old version of
ffmpeg lib compiled with mplayer. This bug is patched on karmic version
mplayer, but still present on jaunty. ffmpeg/ffplay is a more recent version as
the bug report for ffmpeg was done before jaunty release :

[Bug 176548] Re: [needs-packaging] MyPaint

2009-07-21 Thread Popolon
This software is now used for concept art in Durian Project from Blender
foundation, due to this uniq brush system, giving him an important place
in graphic open source software community.

I personnaly packaged for Jaunty (x68 and x86_64), Mypaint 0.7.0
http://popolon.online.fr/deb/
But the package is not very nice, the icon is not at the good place as I only
know a little about deb packaging, will try to read the guidelines to improve
thoses packages.

Other references to Debian/ubuntu packages are updated on the officiel MyPaint
wiki, that is actually here :
http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/MyPaint/Packaging#Ubuntu.2FDebian

A Debian user dev :
http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=gur...@phys.ethz.ch

Is working on a release for Debian
http://sid.ethz.ch/debian/mypaint/

This could help the process of integration for next release.

[Bug 398441] [NEW] multifunction scanner and simple user usage problem

2009-07-12 Thread Popolon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

In the main page about scanning :
https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/printing/C/scanning.html

There is no precision about how to manage a multifunction scanner. They
are well detected by system, but only accessible by root, because,
printer device part is owned by lp group but scanner device part has
root group.

Lot of people reported about this, there are text entries to add to udev file.
This file is not here by default in ubuntu-9.04
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/72506

In my case, another printer I have to add another line.

Solutions : add to the documentation the method, or add the file with
all the concerned scanners in the package and automatically install it
distribution.

[Bug 398441] Re: multifunction scanner and simple user usage problem

2009-07-12 Thread Popolon
I just discover the good method to install it :
Install libsane-extras, and then manually restart udev by :
sudo /etc/init.d/udev restart

I think sane-extra should do this action by itself ? Could be
interesting to document, because in lot of case, it seem a simple and
good solution.

[Bug 363385] [NEW] normal user can't use xsane on jaunty (without installing launching sane ??)

2009-04-18 Thread Popolon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xsane

Looks like a problem with udev rules or something like that ???

sudo xsane works perfectly, don't know wich device file or anything it
uses.

As user sane-find-scanner find the scanner :
[...]
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x0811 [USB2.0

I given authorization for user everywhere I know :
* administration = authorization = device-access = Directly access scanners
(Yes/yes/yes + explicit authorization
* administration = users  groups = user properties : send/receive fax, added
in saned group

I restarted the system after these right was added.

but with my main users, xsane doesn't find the scanner.

I then installed the 'sane' package, xscanimage/scanimage works perfectly with
the same user.
Then I can launch xsane, it works... ???

will add info after reboot...

[Bug 353763] Re: [jaunty] Blender is unusable with UXA

2009-04-03 Thread Popolon
This bug with blender is only in window mode, in full screen mode,
everything was well displayed but there still a graphic translation
between the rendering window (F12) and it's content.

Since the middle or end of this week, new changes on the driver display lot of
traces on the 3d view of blender, see following attachement
I use an Intel 82945G/GZ (after lscpi), that's in fact a 945GC (most common
graphic chips with intel atom330).

2-go to render menu (F10)
3-in 'Format' choose [FFmpeg] instead of [Jpeg] for output
4-click sur [ANIM]

At the end of the first frame computation, blender crash, this does not
happen, when output to JPEG or PNG

Output of gdb :

[Bug 318445] Re: ffmpeg won't convert flv to mp3

2009-03-22 Thread Popolon
Still have the bug on 64bit version jaunty, with:
ffmpeg 3:0.svn20090303-1ubuntu2 (jaunty)
and
mplayer 2:1.0~rc2-0ubuntu19

Way to reproduce:
1. play in firefox the following video (open only one youtube video together in
firefox to be sure to have the good video):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yAL0qAK7MM

2. play with:
ffmpeg /tmp/Flash*
or
mplayer /tmp/Flash*

This shows the error, this format is supported since at least one month
on ffmpeg (and then mplayer) svn sources.

not work (at least on 64bits jaunty).

[Bug 345125] [NEW] flashblock doesn't block flash and totally disallow to show 'embed' flash content

2009-03-18 Thread Popolon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flashblock

The actual flashblock in ubuntu-9.04 alpha (and with everyday update)
doesn't block flash video from youtube and even doesn't allow to see
any 'embed' video from youtube on other site.

Tested on x86_64 platform with flashplugin nonfree and with official
linux 64bit beta adobe flash plugin.

disable flashblock, enable embeded flash to work again

An example page where flash doesn't work with ubuntu version of flashblock
activated:
http://www.icidailleurs.com/artistes/nonstop.htm

Workaround :
* remove ubuntu flashblock 1.3.11a official package
* install flashblock from firefox plugin catalog (tested with flashblock 1.5.8
and linux 64bit version of flash player)
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/
But suppose this works too with ubuntu official 32bit flash + wrapper

[Bug 337009] Re: ubuntu-8.10-desktop-amd64 livecd (on usb key) crash at boot on Intel Atom 330

2009-03-15 Thread Popolon
Yes it crashs every time.
I created the usb key using UnetBootIn because the integrated administration =
makeusbkey didn't work at all, don't know why for, could be related to
fat32/fat16 format on usb key ???
after unetbootin menu, and kernel loading, Linux kernel crash quickly. with
register dump displayed on console.

This happen on Atom 330, I can do more tests if it is usefull, but the
crash doesn't occur with unetbootin+Ubuntu 9.04 jaunty alpha 5 nor
alpha6 for x86_64

[Bug 337009] [NEW] ubuntu-8.10-desktop-amd64 livecd (on usb key) crash at boot on Intel Atom 330

2009-03-02 Thread Popolon
Public bug reported:

ubuntu-8.10-desktop-amd64 livecd (on usb key) crash at boot (just after loading
kernel/init) on Intel Atom 330 (on a shuttle X27D).
But jaunty-desktop-amd64 9.04-alpha 5 livecd (on the same usb key) works well.

Don't know if this is a matter of linux-2.6-27 main version problem or
due to some ubuntu patch or compilation/configuration option.

Public bug reported:

Since the upgrade to (x)ubuntu 8.04, I can't connect anymore from my
Xubuntu boxes to my working box display (linux from scratch). this bug
is often reported on the net.

I scp my .Xauthority from my display/working box to my ubuntu box :
scp ~/.Xauthority xubuntu:

then ssh to my xubuntu box and export my other box display :
ssh xubuntu
export DISPLAY=192.168.0.15:0

then launch a random application:
xclock

and have now the following failure:
Invalid XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 key (failed address comparison)Error: Can't open
display: 192.168.0.15:0

192.168.0.15 is my working station where the window should be displayed,
this worked nice on all my (x)ubuntu boxes just before I upgraded them
