I am also a tally user. I have gone through the search of Open source FA package based on double entry system but i am not convinced. [ubuntu-uk] Search for files
It seems to be my day for asking questions. In 6.10 when I searched for files using Places Search for files, I was able to search all my folders, individually if I wished. This facility no longer seems to be available on 7.04. Have I missed something or accidentally removed something? Please advise. It's also on the 'Go' menu in the File Browser windows (or Ctrl + F will start it). Perhaps I was not very clear. Suppose I am searching for a file and would like to look in say usr. I could start in the palces menu select Search for files and then ask for the search to be in usr or elsewhere, Now the choicw appears to be limited. However I think I have found a way. select to look in other in the drop down menu and then click twice on the left pointing arrow at the top left of the window which opens. Robert I tried locking the package, but to no avail. I notice that when the update is supposedly being installed, the 'details' screen reports Unpacking replacement libpath-class-perl ... Setting up libpath-class-perl (0.15-1) ... and then it stops. Synaptic reports that the update is installed; but the package name stays in the list of items for update; and the update icon on the menu bar does not disappear. It looks like the version locking in synaptic is just using the version. Yes you can save as text, although the interface is a bit confusing. In the Save Page As dialogue, change the name to end in .txt not .html. This doesn't change the format, but when you save the file Ubuntu should recognize such files as text files. Next tab to the Browse for other folders toggle button and press it. This opens a load of controls, mainly for a selecting where to save your file. But amongst them is a a select combobox control for the file format. As you tab through it will be read as one of: 1. Web Page, complete 2. Web Page, HTML Only 3. Text Files 4. All Files You want to change it so that Text Files is selected. I found that sometimes when I changed the control it didn't read the new value, but pressing Orca Key + Return (to say Where I Am) always revealed the current value. If this proves difficult, there are loads of other ways of accomplishing the same thing. e.g.: 1) Select All, then Copy and Paste into GEdit and save the resultant text. 2) Save the webpage to disk as HTML then use a program like html2text to convert it. Ixe... Concordo com o Marcos. A última vez que vi um modem destes funcionar foi no Kernel2.4, e depois de muita gambiarra. Se você acha que o teu tempo vale mais que R$10,00/hora, vale mais a pena você comprar um Intel (25 pila no máximo) do que gastar +d 3horas pra botar os SM56 pra rodar... [Ubuntu-BR] Problema com IP/SUBNET em DHCPD
Caros
Estou configurando uma rede LTSP usando o próprio ltsp 5.0 que vem
embutido no Feisty.
Porém, estou com dificuldades de fazer o servidor DHCP instalado por ele
reconhecer como válidos a minha range de IP's internos (10.1.1.x) e
sub-net mask (255.0.0.0), que é a padrão do meu modem DSL500G -
Generation II (no qual, por prevenção, já desabilitei o dhcp interno).
A cada vez que mando dar start no dhcpd, ele me acusa a seguinte mensagem:

dhcpd self-test failed. Please fix the config file.

Observações: 10.1.1.1 é o meu modem adsl (router) e 10.1.1.4 é o

[Ubuntu-BR] Som no Ubuntu 7.04
Pessoal Instalei o ubuntu 7.04 e preciso fazer umas configurações que não descobri onde ir... Tenho 2 placas de som, e gostaria de usar uma como padrão do sistema, para mp3, filmes, sons dos eventos do Ubuntu, etc... E a Outra gostaria de usar exclusivamente para o leitor de Telas Orca, pois sou deficiente visual e preciso desse recurso. Até agora só consegui isso de forma aleatória, ou seja o sistema sorteia qual vai ser a placa padrão. Preciso muito acertar isso, pois toda vez que o Ubuntu emite um som, o Orca se cala se todos os sons do sistema e a fala do Orca estiverem direcionados para a mesma placa. Pessoal, estou convidando um usuário de outras distros a instalar o Feisty - na verdade, sugeri Ubuntu porque ele tem um modem igual ao meu, e é a chance de ele usar o mesmo modem no Ubuntu -, e ele me perguntou se tinha como instalar MSCORE, Rosegarden, Musicedit e Notedit no Ubuntu. Sugeri a ele o Ubuntu Studio - e ele está fazendo o Download. Mesmo assim, fiquei de descobrir se alguém aí usa os softwares acima nominados e se é fácil instalar no ubuntu (tipo apt-get), ou se é necessário compilar e etc Considerando que é mais uma aquisição pra comunidade, agradeço se alguém puder ajudar a responder aos questionamentos dele. Clóvis, é que o par 10.1.1.0/255.0.0.0 não combina. Tenta

[Ubuntu-BR] Instalação do Feisty Não rec onheceu partição primária.
Pois é, pessoal. Com um mês de atraso, fiz o upgrade pro Feisty (tava curtindo o Edgy, já que foi custoso fazer o modem funcionar nele). Mas o detalhe: no Windows, criei uma partição primária pro Feisty. Dei boot pelo live CD, e na hora da instalação, simplesmente o Gparted não se entendeu com as duas partições primárias do HD (do windows e do ubuntu), e queria apagar tudo. Como ainda não posso fazer isso - até porque há uma partição com dados - saí do instalador e dei reboot. Com o SuperGrubDisk restaurei a MBR (senão nem entrava no Win), e, uma vez no XP, mudei a partição de primária para estendida. Rebootei e carreguei o live CD de novo , e qual foi minha surpresa: agora o instalador reconheceu todas as partições, como devia. [Ubuntu-BR] Clamav Não Funciona
Desde que atualizei para o Feisty o Clamav não funciona mais. Nem a pau. Toda vez que vou escanear um arquivo ele me diz que: You do not appear to have virus definitions! Eu sempre passei por isso quando usava dual boot. Acontece que você não precisa criar a partição com o Windows. Seja lá o que for que você faça o Linux não vai reconhecer essa partição. E mesmo que reconheça, é melhor deixar ele fazer as coisas do seu jeito. Simplesmente reserve o espaço do Windows (que o linux chamará de /dev/hda1) e, talvez, uma partição de compartilhamento de dados entre os dois sistemas. Feito isso, deixe o resto do disco vazio e deixe o Linux se haver com este espaço. Desde que você não marque para formatar nenhuma das partições que pretende usar com o Windows, tudo está OK. É assim mesmo que o Linux funciona. Waldir, O ubuntu-desktop, como meta-pacote da distribuição, é usado no dist-upgrade de forma bem simples: Bats instalar uma versão mais nova dele que esle já traz como dependências os pacotes para o novo desktop. Eu, aqui em casa, compilei o pidgin. É muito fácil. A única coisa é que eu tive que rodar o script configure algumas vezes e baixar dependências (pacotes *-dev) pelo synaptic pra poder instalá-lo com todos os recursos. Pra mim, ficou bem mais rápido e eu ainda tive aquela sensação boa do tipo compilei um programa e funcionou!!! hehehe. Boa sorte com a instalação, de qualquer forma. Um abraço, Flávio. Infelizmente, é impossível testar todas as configurações e todos os casos de uso. Por isso, algumas vezes dá pau mesmo. Eu, por exemplo, não consigo instalar um Winmodem na casa de um amigo. O modem é um LG netogragon, completamente suportado por todos os tutoriais. Aparentemente tudo está certo, mas ele se recusa a rodar. Fazer o quê... No seu caso, eu sei que a 5700LE é uma placa bem problemática mesmo, inclusive no Windows, porque eu uso um workstation com ela no trabalho... De qualquer forma, boa sorte. Um abraço, Flávio. Simplesmente reserve o espaço do Windows (que o linux chamará de /dev/hda1) e, talvez, uma partição de compartilhamento de dados entre os dois sistemas. Feito isso, deixe o resto do disco vazio e deixe o Linux se haver com este espaço. Desde que você não marque para formatar nenhuma das partições que pretende usar com o Windows, tudo está OK. É assim mesmo que o Linux funciona. Grato pelo apoio, o par que efetivamente resolveu aquele impasse foi IP
10.1.1.x / Subnet 255.255.255.0, o que eu já havia conseguido quando da
chegada da sua resposta... mas agradeço enormemente o auxílio e tenho a
satisfação de informar que meu Thin Client (no end. 10.1.1.5) já mostra
a tela de login do Feisty. Apenas ele não reconheceu meu mouse serial
antigo, e quando tento logar com um dos usuários já cadastrados na
máquina, ele volta à tela de Login mas já estou bem contente e
pretendo wikificar os passos necessários assim que deixar o sistema em
ordemmas só amanhã, que hoje já encerrei o expediente. Alguém aí
saberia o melhor lugar para guardar essa informação wikificada?

А с ней я тоже не разобрался... linuxdc+ намного проще, очень напоминает тот же ApexDC+, все в гуе, настройка элементарная, прописываешь хаб, цепляешься к нему и автоматом получаешь список пользователей. вебкамера logitech и ск анер
Привет всем! Я уже писал про свою веб-камеру, в убунте 6.10 она не работала. После обновления стала работать, но максимум несколько минут, после чего все клиенты, с ней работающие просто напросто виснут. Но проблема возникла неожиданно и в месте, где ее никто не ждал. У меня сканер Canon Lide 25 подключен к контролеру USB, и к этому же контролеру подключена вебкамера (та что сейчас виснет). При запуске xsane, он показывает, что нашел два устройства, т.е. камеру и сканер, с чего работать? Указываю сканер. Пытаюсь взять со сканера предварительный просмотр - долго думает, к сканеру не обращается и спустя какое то время показывает черное поле... Сутки мучился, пока не догадался отключить камеру - и все пошло совершенно нормально. Что за гадость такая? Почему xsane обращается не к тому устройству, что было указано? Может быть и камера виснет как раз из-за того, что сканер подключен на данный контролер? Подскажите варианты решения. В линукс-системах есть несколько терминалов, на которые можно переключаться Alt+[F1-F10] из текстового и Ctrl+Alt+[F1-F10] из графического. Конкретно в Ubuntu терминалы 1-6 - текстовые, 7-10 - графические. Т.е. когда делаешь смену пользователя текущий сеанс не завершается (по умолчанию на F7 висит), но открывается новый графический сеанс на F8. Потому если вводишь имя уже залогинившегося пользователя предлагает продолжить старый сеанс либо начать новый. oleg пишет: День добрый! A la base, mon PC tourne sous windows XP. J'ai installé Ubuntu 6.06 à partir d'un CD. J'ai fait l'installation sur un 2e disque dur, pour éviter d'avoir à partager un disque entre Linux et Windows. L'installation a marché. Je peux choisir entre Ubuntu et Windows au démarrage du PC. Mais l'ennui, c'est que la liaison internet ne fonctionne pas. Impossible de faire le 272 mises à jour proposées. Pourtant, l'internet marche lorsque je boote à partir du CD live. Quelqu'un a-t-il déjà connu ce genre de difficulté? J'aimerais essayer de désinstaller Ubuntu et de le réinstaller à partir d'un autre CD. I have the same problem; resetting the drive doesn't help. The problem occurs on Feisty with the latest updates on an Intel x86_64. I used multiple drives to test it, and the problem occurs with each drive, so it seems to be drive-independent. The problem just occurred, I don't know what caused it. The only thing that changed is that I updated some packages. I don't where the activity of the adept update manager is logged, if someone know how to find that, I can post which packages I updated before noticing the problem. I didn't make myself clear, when I wrote I build a custom kernel, what I did was that I built a custom kernel from the ubuntu kernel source with this patch applied, using the debian tools.
