[Bug 444197] Re: gnome-netstatus applet doesnt display signal strength

2011-07-01 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Note that Im not sure how or when this this post was originally
responded to besides, but this bug was from a while back as out can see
as I was using the Karmic Beta at the time.

Anyhow, I do not and will not use Natty or any version of Unity/Gnome
Shell. Though I just tested out 2.28 version of netstatus and the wifi
strength bar connectivity signal bar is back and much much more
accurate. Although, since it's been 2 yrs I have a new laptop, so It's
not exactly a 1-for-1 comparison any longer. Though from what I can tell
it's working again.

[Bug 484845] Re: Prevent key-repeat triggering notifications if brightness is at min/max

2011-04-11 Thread Nastrafireblaze
I'm not sure if this is the problem I am having on my laptop as I cant
cut through all this jargon.

Though I have a Samsung R480 with gnome-power-manager 2.30 installed.

When I press Fn + Up/Down Brightness keyboard event the brightness
increases/decreases up or down until the brightness hits max or min.
Though, it doesnt stop there action becomes stuck in a loop.

This sorta locks up the OS, as in I cannot click any menus or type into
programs. Although it will allow me to switch to a tty and then switch
back to the actual GUI session and then I regain back my normal OS
functionality. Afterwards the Fn + Up/Down Brightness doesnt respond
anymore.

[Bug 704568] Re: RB wont write file

2011-01-30 Thread Nastrafireblaze
So I'll make this a follow along bug report.

1) Using the EXT4 Filesytem.

2) Add podcast feed http://jv.wild949.com/podcast/jvhighlight.xml to
rhthymbox

3) Update Feeds

4) Try to download/save a particular podcast such as STRANGE EMAILS
from Aug 26 2010

6) The download/save will fail.

5) Open your web browser and load the direct link to

http://a1135.g.akamai.net/f/1135/18227/1h/cchannel.download.akamai.com/18227/podcast
/SANFRANCISCO-CA/JVLD-IP/HIGHLIGHT - EMAILS.mp3?CPROG=PCASTMARKET

IPPCAST_AUTHOR=WiLD_94.9PCAST_CAT=Arts__EntertainmentPCAST_TITLE=JV's_Highlight_on_WiLD_94.9

6) The reason for the fail is because Rhthymbox attempts to save the
entire URL above as a filename. The filename exceeds the filesystems
filename specifications.

2011-01-18 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

So, RB wont write a file to disk.

I believe the reason is because the program attempts to save the entire
link instead of something much more shorter or customized. The filename
then exceeds the filesystem naming requirements.

[Bug 700542] Re: RB preferred format tab all sorts of futzed

2011-01-09 Thread Nastrafireblaze
The issue no longer happens, though it was a my lack of knowledge on how
to use gstreamer pipeline

The CD Quality, Lossy tag does not appear in the dropdown whatsoever,
because of a value change of quality that happened wayback when. It's
gstreamer pipeline values were audio/x-raw-float,rate=44100,channels=2
! vorbisenc name=enc quality=0.60! oggmux

After typing the above paragraph I looked at it and thought the exclamation
after enc quality might be in the wrong place. I added a space and restarted
the program and it appeared.
-

However I can still consistently make the program crash by playing an
Audio CD (actually it's any music file, while clicking Preferences
Music Edit Preferences Preferred Format's Edit New Enter A Name
For New Preference Create

Have attached a debug file using rhthymbox -d.

2011-01-08 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Public bug reported:

There are 2 problems:

Preferred formats I created or I've modified do not show up in my dropdown

Also, I am able to make the program crash consistently, if I I play an Audio CD

Completed aforementioned tasks.

Tried twice. The first video (appeneded with chopiness in archive) was
extremely choppy throughout. I stopped it at about 3minutes.

The second video (appended with no-chopiness in archive) was not choppy
except for the short while 15 seconds of initial usage, after that the
video recorded fine until I stopped it at about 5minutes.

2010-03-02 Thread Nastrafireblaze
I had this problem this morning after logging in the same. Except my
computer was waking up from hibernate when I got the fatal error
message. Apport asked me to report a bug. I was about to post a new bug
report, but I saw this one as a suggested, so I said mark this as
affects me also. Though now, I dont know which logs you may be
interested in seeing. So, I just attached the ones in your comment.

# MOMENTS BEFORE POSTING #
Also, I just did everything you said and restarted and got the FATAL ERROR
message again. So, let me know what you wanna see from that. Though from the
CLI I got this output upon clicking connect :

[Bug 515359] [NEW] Flash sound stops functioning in Firefox 3.6

2010-01-31 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I have this problem, where audio sound in Firefox just stops working, it
cuts off randomly. It's hard for me to replicate, because I usually have
Firefox open for extended periods of time, like at least 10+ hours, but
this morning I awoke and I played a video on Youtube and the sound cut
out immediately in real time. So I went to Log Viewer and saw some
corresponding errors at the exact time that sound kicked off. I mad a
quick bug log, in case I had time to file later, this is what I
documented :

Jan 31 07:47:14 mycomp[2077]: ratelimit.c: 39952 events suppressed
Jan 31 07:47:14 mycomp[2077]: protocol-native.c: Failed to push data into queue

Jan 31 07:51:06 mycomp wpa_supplicant[1302]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS
--From Syslog

The sound stopped at exactly 07:37 in the morning only thing I did was
go to the computer and play a youtube video. I lowered the youtube
volume SWF player. Mind you the computer had been on all night.
Actually, moments later I discovered that the sound doesnt work with mp3
streaming volumes (perhaps more??), but I went to the Internet Archive
and happen to click on a streamable OGG and it played just fine. This is
around the 4th time this has happened and its random occurrence. The
solution is usually to restart Firefox.

(I dont know if it's of any use, but there is a similarly reported bug
by another user saying his Adobe flash sound stops working in Firefox
when he suspends his computer. This does not affect me, in this manner)

[Bug 481023] [NEW] Hang when going to super-user mode via telinit 1

2009-11-11 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: upstart

For some unknown reason, my computer will hang with a black screen or a
scrambled screen when I try to sudo telinit 1 . From what I
understand it is supposed to dump me into a lower level login shell, but
it never arrives, no matter how long I wait.

I also have this hang sometimes happen when I select shutdown or
restart, tho its far an few inbetween, but this happens 100% of the
times whenever I directly type in sudo telinit 1.

Also, sudo telinit S does absolutely nothing for my session.

Let, me know if I can provide any more information.

[Bug 479420] [NEW] Sound-converter crashes upon .dxr file

2009-11-09 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: soundconverter

I dont know how it is already implement but sound-converter know how to
skip useless files laready, but recently I found that it will not skip,
and will attempt to process a Protected Macromedia Director Movie DXR
file. This causes something in the program to cause it to hang and
eventually freeze up. Sound-converter will than no longer process
anymore files and must be Force Quitted.

I think .DXR's should be added to the exclusion rules.

Otherwise, sound-converter is a great program. Thanks to the devs.

[Bug 458506] Re: KARMIC Grub Doesnt Play Nice With Mounted NTFS Partitions

2009-10-31 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Mr Steve Langasek,

Forgive, my tardiness but I did a backup and recently installed Windows
7 and Ubuntu Karmic Stable.

Though, no the problem I could boot from Windows Vista back into Windows
Vista without the error boot screen popping up. It only happened if I
went from Ubuntu to Windows.

Although, the problem happened to me in this brand new fresh
installation of Windows 7 and my Ubuntu Karmic upgrade to Stable.

I should mention that originally Win 7 overwrote the MBR and deleted
grub. So I had to chroot and reinstall grub2 from a LiveCD and then do
my update. Which also, refreshed grub2 so it was completely up-to-date.
Seemed fine at first, I did multiple boot between both, but the problem
did occur once so far.

My previous theory of the mounting is pretty much invalid. I suppose I
will try to identify what specifically I need to do to reproduce it.

[Bug 458506] Re: KARMIC Grub Doesnt Play Nice With Mounted NTFS Partitions

2009-10-24 Thread Nastrafireblaze
I did manage to capture the issue, but the solution I normally used (ie
mounting Windows partition in Ubuntu) did not rectify the problem for
some reason. It's a bit long on running time but I tried to minimize the
amount of recording by not recording long processes, which is why its
broken down into parts.

2009-10-23 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Well, if anyone can advise on any logs, config files, or additonal
documentation needed? It's not an issue for me as I have made a marked
drop in to how much boot into my Windows nowadays also, but I'm sure it
may be an issue for non-fully transitioned new user to ubuntu or it
could be an issue if someones Ubuntu installation faults and they are
not able to load either Ubuntu or Windows. I have nothing to do so I
suppose I can take a demonstration of this in action.

[Bug 458506] [NEW] KARMIC Grub Doesnt Play Nice With Mounted NTFS Partitions

2009-10-22 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub

In the version of ubuntu Grub that came with Ubuntu Karmic Beta. Grub
doesnt act right with my windows ntfs partitions.

The problem is that grub fails to boot my windows ntfs partition. It
will load the startup screen(s) for Windows Vista, either in the format
of the Windows had problems starting up. Would you like to launch
start-up repair or Launch Windows normally?

Either selection will show the splash screen for Windows but the
computer will abruptly after the splash screen disappears. This course
of action will happen an infinite amount of times.

I discovered that though, this only happens based upon the last shutdown
from within ubuntu, if the ntfs drive was mounted or not. The Karmic
edition of Ubuntu will not automatically mount the additional partitions
without a password. If I mount the partition and enter my password for
my NTFS partition and restart it will boot into Windows Vista no
problem. However, if I start Ubuntu and lets say I dont need to access
my NTFS partition so I never enter the password for it, and thus Ubuntu
never accesses it, then the aformentioned problem arises.

Please let me know if you need additional information logs, or OGG
format video of this scenario happening as it is easily reproducable?
Thx.

Hopefully, this will get marked as an immediate issue because, if a user
doesnt mount their ntfs windows partition and Ubuntu craps out then
they are stuck with a completely unbootable system.

I am using Ubuntu Karmic Beta now, and my suspend/hibernate has not
functioned properly since Intrepid. Intrepid it worked remarkably well
both suspend and hibernate. With Jaunty the hibernate function still
worked, the suspend function didnt work. I updated to Karmic Alpha 6 and
it was still the same the hibernate function works but the suspend
function didnt. Now Im on the Karmic Beta and I jsut put the computer
into Hibernate and it hibernated but upon turning the computer back on
it basically went thru the motions to seem as if it was resuming a
hibernate but I was presented with the GDM login screen instead of the
usual lock screen. I had to relogin and it seemed to reinitialize.

[Bug 444197] [NEW] gnome-netstatus applet doesnt display signal strength

2009-10-05 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Public bug reported:

The gnome-netstatus version 2.26.0 included in Ubuntu Alpha Karmic 6 and
even the version 2.28.0 from the Debian Sid (unstable) do not have the
wireless signal bar that was available in 2.12 in Ubuntu Intrepid (and
its predecessors). This is especially bad since the default
NetworkManager Applet reports the wrong signal strength since my
inception to Ubuntu (and even so worse in Alpha Karmic 6)

** Affects: gnome-netstatus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 431180] Re: Keyboard shortcut for 'Run a terminal' is discarded

2009-10-05 Thread Nastrafireblaze
I have this same issue. I generally only set the Run A Terminal
keyboard shortcut so I dont know if this affects any of the other
shortcuts, but when I set the Run A Terminal shortcut to
Ctrl+Shift+Q it will get unset and revert back to disabled on a reboot
or logout. This happens under Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Alpha 6 Linux
2.6.31-10-generic i686

[Bug 438515] [NEW] Problem Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Alpha 6 going on standby

2009-09-28 Thread Nastrafireblaze
Public bug reported:

I attempted to put my HP/Compaq CQ50-107NR laptop to standby it went
into standby but did not return from it. Which is normal, although this
time it caused a kernel panic and apport asked me to report to
developers. Hibernate functions perfectly.

ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from
resuming properly.
