Monday bug triage
Bugs last updated between 2022-05-27 (Friday) and 2022-05-29 (Sunday) inclusive Date range identified as: "Monday triage" Found 39 bugs Sorry that this Monday triaged slipped through. But anyway, whilst most of them are in good hands, the few worth mentioning are: LP: #1887490 - *(Fix Released) [libvirt] - [FFe/SRU] Add/Backport EPYC-v3 and EPYC-Rome CPU model Regression reported (likely!) and so pinged Christian to TAL. LP: #1966610 - (Expired) [smartmontools] - smartctl assert failure: free(): invalid pointer This was expired because the reporter did not set the status of the bug back to New after getting back to us and it also seemed to have slipped through from our side. But having this caught, I set this to New again and asked Lena to TAL, given her prior work on the bug. LP: #1975897 - (New) [clamav] - package clamav-milter 0.103.6+dfsg-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 failed … Marked this one as Incomplete and asked for more information from the reporter as it couldn't be reproduced. LP: #1976110 - (New) [tmux] - `tmux -d -x ... -y ...` does not respect sizing Valid bug. The reporter has done a nice work. Assigned this to myself to fix and backport this to Jammy whenever time allows. Log-rotation doesn't work for catalina.out in src:tomcat9 as intended
Hello, A few weeks ago, LP: #1964881/tomcat9 was opened by Evren (also CC'd here), mentioning that Logging/Log rotation does not work for catalina.out as expected. Since this was in sync w/ Debian, we forwarded this there via https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1008668. If you follow the thread, you'll see two observations: a) This is Ubuntu-specific because of the changes introduced in src:rsyslog over a decade ago, which basically doesn't let it run as root, which is where I think the problem(s) started to originate. However, I am kinda stumped that it took more than 13 years to get to this bug. :) b) Markus (an implicit co-maintainer of tomcat* in Debian) said that the approach to fix the same, whilst being Ubuntu-specific, doesn't make sense to him. So since I am not very well-versed with src:tomcat*, I am confused about what we should do here then. What do y'all think? I think I am convinced that if a) is true, then this will indeed be a delta which we'll have to maintain forever (or at least until we re-sync rsyslog :)). What do you think should be the correct path? If there's someone who has more experience with the package, can they take a look? - u -- ubuntu-server mailing list ubuntu-server@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server More info: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ServerTeam

In my opinion, since we have time, I'd like to drop this delta and get this in-sync w/ Debian. That'd mean two things here: a) Check if we can safely drop the delta; i.e. the package in Debian builds w/o FTBFS, et al, in Ubuntu. b) If we still need the delta, send MRs, debdiffs, et al, to Debian. Athos, send MRs to Debian in such cases and let us know via #debian-php (the place where we once talked) and I can sponsor your uploads there. This way we'll reduce the technical-debt we've gained over the months now. Hopefully someone should be able to TAL at this one. LP: #1949565 - (Confirmed) [mysql-8.0] - Cannot connect anymore to Azure Database for MySQL with 8.0.27-0ubuntu0.20.04 I am not sure how to reproduce this bug so I need a bit of help here. Since two people mentioned the same thing happening, maybe it'd be a legit bug? Either way, since I don't have enough resources to reproduce, so I've left the bug as-is. Whilst I got all the bugs in the world today, only 3 were worth mentioning: LP: #1947141 - (New) [monitoring-plugins] - monitoring-plugins-standard check_mysql missing Interesting bug. Focal has the mentioned file in the package, and Impish as well. Only missing in Hirsute. Further investigation with and by Paride revealed that it's because of the mysql-8.0 version and simply a no-change rebuild now should fix that. We've already uploaded the fix! \o/ LP: #1947165 - (New) [nmap] - nmap crashes when scanning /24 subnet Valid bug. Thanks to Miriam for helping in finding the same upstream bug and the fixing commit. I've asked the reporter to forward the same bug in Debian since we're in a sync and that as soon as this is fixed in Debian (via a new version or otherwise), we'll have the fix automatically. Given that there's a very easy way around this, it isn't worth an SRU. LP: #1947204 - (New) [apache2] - rpackage apache2 2.4.46-4ubuntu1.3 failed to install/upgrade: installed apache2 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 Couldn't reproduce and so asked the reporter to provide more information and marked this as incomplete. Bugs last updated on 2021-07-22 (Thursday) Date range identified as: "Friday triage" Found 13 bugs I did this bug triage w/ Miriam. Most of the bugs are under control or are being actively tracked. The only bugs worth mentioning are: 1. Marked it as "Incomplete", asking for more information but also provided a link to similar upstream ticket which documents the solution. 2. LP: #1937218 - (Confirmed) [mysql-5.7] - MySQL Server Multiple Vulnerabilities Pinged the Security team to see who's working on this. Marc said they're taking care of this so I didn't do anything here. 3. LP: #1937286 - (New) [containerd] - containerd depends on unreleased docker19 package in focal The reporter was trying to use the newer containerd with the older docker.io (that is, not the recent SRU). We triaged this bug post-standup together with Kanashrio. Marked it as "Incomplete" and asked for more information. 4. LP: #1937293 - (New) [postgresql-12] - package postgresql-12 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso instalado paquete postgresql-12 script post-removal devolvió el código de salida de error 10 The reporter seems to have postgresql-13 installed from third party sources, et al, and is trying to install postgresql-12 via apt. :P Marked this bug as "Incomplete" and suggested the user to purge the third-party packages (at least, postgresql-13) and then do an installation of postgresql-12 via apt. 5. LP: #1937316 - (New) [ubuntu-advantage-tools] - Cannot download source packages provided by Ubuntu ESM Pinged the other squad which looks at ua-tools, so they'll look at this one. So yay! \o/) Most of the bugs are under control or are being actively tracked. The only bugs worth mentioning are: 1. LP: #1934529 - (Incomplete) [postfix] - Postfix package install always fails The reporter had a broken system and that is why they couldn't install postfix. Was previously marked as "Incomplete" but after verifying, I marked it as "Invalid" because this wasn't really a bug in the package. 2. LP: #1936696 - (New) [mysql-8.0] - package mysql-server-8.0 8.0.25-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: installed mysql-server-8.0 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127 Miriam nicely noticed that this bug was a result of the user trying to use mariadb (from third-party sources and mysql-server from apt). We advised the reporter to not do that and purge mariadb if they want to use mysql, instead. Marked it as Invalid. 3. LP: #1936702 - (New) [ubuntu-advantage-tools] - patch_status_json.py crashed with KeyError in patch_status_json_schema_0_1(): 'configStatus' Lucas M. (from the other part of our squad) mentioned that they know about this and he's going to reply to the bug. So did nothing. 4. LP: #1936744 - (New) [apache2] - Network adapter disappeared.Disconnected from internet. This looks like a local configuration issue so marked it as Incomplete and asked for more information. Simultaneously, provided Unix Stackexchange thread if they want to look further (and might help). 5. LP: #1936761 - (New) [clamav] - package clamav-base 0.103.2+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: installed clamav-base package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 Couldn't reproduce. Whilst I believe this is an invalid bug report, I set it to "incomplete" to leave some space for discussion, et al. 2. LP: #1934998 - (New) [mysql-8.0] - package mysql-server 8.0.25-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: problèmes de dépendances - laissé non configuré A bug report in French! \o/ The usual thing here, marked the bug report as incomplete because there's no sufficient information or anything. 3. I can partly reproduce this (that is, there are 2 dots indeed added to the hostname) but it doesn't fail to upgrade, et al, as the user claims. I've further asked for a reproducer but I guess it does seem to be an actual bug. A few more things need some patches to get everything working, I'll submit them to Debian once it's all settled here. > Remaining work items still TBD: > > - owfs feels like it's not gotten its php8 updates yet? I've been looking at owfs (w/ William). owfs uses swig to build the PHP extension. So if you notice, there's swig -php7 being called and if PHP7 isn't available, it falls back to -php (which is aliasing for php5). Olly (upsteram of swig) has written a patch for supporting PHP8 in swig and it's merged but the release is due. Once that happens, getting to build owfs shouldn't be very hard, since I've looked into the patch and it makes sense, et al. Another nice thing is that the newer swig (whenever it's released) also maps known PHP interfaces to zend_class_entry*, this should also help with the owfs build, I believe. MapServer also suffers through the same issue, so probably both should be fixed (along the same lines, hopefully) whenever a newer swig is out. I've also asked swig to do a release, too :) Hope that helps. - u -- ubuntu-server mailing list ubuntu-server@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server More info: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ServerTeam
