I wasn't suggesting you lurk in an irc channel. More that you go to the
channel during European the working day (to hit more desktop developers)
and speak to the developers directly.

While Phil may have put it bluntly, he's right. The best place to talk
about Ubuntu+1 issues is where the developers hang out, which is on IRC,
and on dev/qa lists all day every day.

No, this bug is not reported - which is hardly surprising as apport is
not yet fully enabled as yet in 13.10. I'm going to lurk on the irc
channels as I mentioned, and then see what happens with updates. I
fully expect to be re-installing Saucy after testing from a download of
the latest daily build next week. I'm fairly certain the problem I
experienced was a bit of a one-off on one particular day, and not
something to be worried about, so I'll keep a low profile for the time
being. Thanks for your response though. Really, we are on the same team.

I am very sorry if I came across as 'harsh'. I have followed this thread,
but it really belongs on the -testing email system. I see that at least of
one of the release team have responded as to where to correctly file a bug.

With no dis respect to this LoCo, bugs should reported as such. Please do
have a look as to if there has already been a bug reported

As a part of updating our classroom sessions[1] we will be inviting people
into both the testing and release teams. A lot of work actually happens
there in terms of priotising bugs etc.

Instead of 'complaining' about things on an email list please file a bug.
Simply put? The devs do not read ubuntu-uk mailing list for bugs.

Please get involved with testing... We have got some of the systems for
testing updated (we still have an up stream bug for KVM which has a work
around)

The goal for all of those who actually give a damn is for the next release
to be better than the last.

Thanks for the suggestions. They did not work. The new account and the

easy to waste more time than a simple re-install will take.

Hi,

I had a similar issue after upgrade to 12.04 (I know it's not your
problem!), to fix it I moved my .local folder from my home and put in
Documents. Then reboot, & put things back 1 bit at a time, turned out it
was the icon folder causing the prob for me (dunno how?!).

Might be worth a try before complete re-install!!

Reagards

OIC. Good point.

Possible idea: create a new account from the CLI, log in to it -
default settings might work where the existing ones don't - and see if
