Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 6.x.x - Bluetooth
Hi First off, I've recently migrated from Moode to pcp/lms for home audio management, so a big thanks for the software, impressed so far. I have a question re bluetooth devices - when I connect my phone and look in the paired devices list it defaults to "speaker", I'm just wondering what the most normal use case for bluetooth is here? Shouldn't the default be "player"? Otherwise I have to go into the player config every time a phone connects to bluetooth and change the device, which is a bit unwieldly. Certainly no one else in the house would know to do that. FYI, while I was testing bluetooth I couldn't get it to start unless the wifi was also switched on. This is a pi 3B+ using the latest pcp build. Another FYI, I have another 3B+ with a damaged sd card slot, so it boots from usb stick. I couldn't get the latest pcp build to boot at all, but did manage to get the prior version to work. It should be created after your headphones are connected. It works now, for some reason. Great. The sound quality is not very good though. I think it might be related to the bluetooth codec pCP/bluez-alas is using. I get Code: /usr/local/bin/bluealsa --profile=a2dp-source --profile=a2dp-sink --profile=hsp-ag --profile=hfp-ag --a2dp-volume which sounds like a2dp = SBC = lossy... Since my headphones only support SBC and AAC do you know *how to force AAC*? I'd like to try AAC to see if the sound quality is better. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 6.x.x - Bluetooth
Hey. I'd like to stream music to my *Beats Solo headphones* via *bluetooth* from my pCP: - pCP 7.0 - Pi4 using on-board bluetooth - no DACs or audiocards attached - configured as player (no LMS) I have no problem connecting the headphones, pairing works fine and they show as *connected*. But I couldn't make the headphones play anything so far, total silence. I guess either these headphones are not compatible or I haven't figured out *what Squeezelite settings I need to use*. Or I need to install some extension? If you have managed to listen to audio with pCP and your bluetooth headphones which settings did you use? I took a day longer, but now the LogiLink BT0015 arrived. Is is also working out of the box, the transmission power seems to be the same. But it is also not as good as my iPhone 11. Very strange. I tested both Bluetooth transmitters directly attached to a USB 2 port and with a 70cm USB cable away and with a 1,5m USB cable away. The cables makes no difference in the radius where I can use the headphones. Also strange. When I put my hand completely over the USB transmitter there is also no change in reception. But when I put my hand over the right side of the headphone (there is the receiver) the sound stops. Also strange. I tested also what happens when I go outside with the headphones. There is a big window with double glazing between me and the Pi and the reception is not really good. When I tested this with my iPhone 11 as sender it worked without a problem. I will stay with the LogiLink as it has apt-X support although my headphones have not. I saw a few ones with Bluetooth 5.0 that only working with Windows and not with Linux or macOS. Is it better to connect such a transmitter with an extension cable to the USB port of the Pi? Thank you, but unfortunately this does not work for me. :( I'v got a working IR setup with a squeezelite with dac or simply analog audio out. For bluetooth headphones squeezelite IR not react (no matter if main squeezelite is on or off) Only when I try to synchronize main squeezelite with bluetooth instance then IR working simultanetly, but then there are lot of strange sound drops or clics and i think that this is not acceptable. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 6.x.x - Bluetooth
If you have a working IR setup with a squeezelite wired dac, then the bluetooth session will use the same IR commands. As for setting up IR from scratch with squeezelite, I've not done that. But it should be nothing more than setting up LIRC and then telling squeezelite where to find the configuration file. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. In the end I got a Samsung Galaxy 5e tablet, and it paired OK with PCP, but when I tried to control the volume, the vol bar moved up and down but the PCP output didn't change, unless the vol was at zero when it muted. The vol varied fine with a normal BT speaker. I then found out about BT Disable Absolute Volume control in Developer options and after I'd disabled this (and toggled BT) the vol control then worked. To recap I'm using an Android tablet (LineageOS 17.1) to connect to PCP as a BT speaker, but occasionally sound is silent, so I check the PCP UI and the connection is unticked, and so I have to Connect it again from PCP, whereupon the BT connection is shown as Active on the tablet and the BT speaker works again. I don't now. I read about this in this forum, phillip told me. Correct it is a complete seperate instance. If you control with an android app, you must select the bluetooth instance which you had coppled, not the squeezelite instance. I had the same problem... Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 6.x.x - Bluetooth
I'm trying to connect a Bluetooth speaker. I've got as far as installing the bluetooth stuff, turning it on and have successfully paired the speaker. But I can't work out how to actually connect the speaker up to squeezelite. In the squeezelite audio output menu there's no option for bluetooth. Is there some other way it's supposed to be selected ? I've also tried selecting what looks like it might be the right device in the "output setting", but that just gives an error message. Bluetooth and WiFi share the same frequencies. The RPi folks have tried to get Broadcom to make them work together. But not much luck over the years. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 6.x.x - Bluetooth
My Rpi4 runs the latest versions of pCp and LMS (as at 30.10.20), and works fine over my main system and speakers, but not with my BT headphones (B&W PX), where I experienced lots of sound dropouts, and periods where it would not even connect to the Rpi4/pCp (would not pair, or would not put a name into 'Player Name', or would not show up in LMS). After many hours trying a lot of the potential solutions on this site, including using ssh and the Bluetoothctl functions, it was a combination of 2 things that resolved the issues. One is frequently referred to here get a new SDcard! This was done first, and sorted the problems with getting and maintaining any BT connection at all. I do not know why this should be the case but am convinced that it was a major factor, and as it was done prior to the change below, I do not think they were directly related. I should also say that I wrote a clone of the original card to the new one not a wholly new download and installation. I now had faith in the basic BT configuration but was still suffering sound dropouts, so my 2nd step was to move the BT source (the Rpi4) further into the room (still about 2.5 metres away) and point it's BT-chip end towards my listening position. Success! I have had no dropouts over the last few hours of headphone use, and the 'phones have re-connected easily to the Rpi4 after short periods of non-use. I will experiment further to try and identify the cause of the dropouts, partly because I can't leave the Rpi4 where it is forever. Thank you to all the other contributors to this forum, because without this support I would probably have given up! nickhews's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=67980 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111972 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
