Hello Ingo, Thanks for the update. In my settings - all defaults like the demo version - 'Quick ship entire order' moves the sales order to 'Completed'! 1 - Please mention those store settings that affect this workflow. 2 - What is the workflow to link the sales order with the Workeffort. AW: Shipment of inventory for a workshop
Hi Emad, Completing the quick ship for the entire order is not the final step when managing inventory. Depending on your store settings, inventory is allocated when the order status changes to "approved". You can view the assigned inventory in the order lines, with ATP being reduced while QOH remains unchanged. At this stage, you can still edit the order (update/create/delete order lines...). Upon finalizing the order, QOH will decrease as the inventory leaves the facility. Best regards, Ingo Von: Emad Radwan Gesendet: Sonntag, 3. Re: Inventory for Sales People
Hello Emad, I don't know if you already solved the problem, but I will add a few notes here in addition to what Bill already suggested. If my understanding is correct you have Sales Representatives that sell your products to someone (Business-to-Business) and those same products are also sold to direct customers (ie: e-commerce site). If my previous lines are correct, then you have to differentiate inventory items in different facilities as Bill said. But keep in mind that there is no direct way to make a user/sales rep to reserve directly from a specific repository with some sort of permission/role, so you have to reach that in some other way; you could for example configure a ProductStore where Sales Reps can place orders and associate a dedicated facility to it, so that orders of products made on that store reserve inventory in the dedicated facility. Then you could have a second Product Store for your other sale channel (ie: e-commerce) associated to a different facility. In this way you can reach your goal with "only" a bit of backoffice configuration. Otherwise if you prefer to develop your own custom solution, you can leverage the FacilityParty entity which associate a Party (your Sales Rep) to a Facility (your dedicated facility) with a specific Role (SALES_REP /AGENT role) and re-write/customize the inventory reservation flow to consider the new constraint. This choice is up to you depending on your business. HTH, Giulio Il giorno lun 25 set 2023 alle ore 11:16 Emad Radwan ha scritto: > Hello Bill, > > Many thanks, it's an excellent idea. Re: Inventory - PRODUCT_FACILITY - Last_Inventory_Count
Hello Emad, the lastInventoryCount field in the ProductFacility entity stores the last stock availability of a product for a facility, that is the Available To Promise (ATP) total among all inventory items of a product in a facility, so it's correct that the lastInventoryCount field is updated each time an order is created (if product store is configured to reserve inventory of course). If you check the field description in the product-entitymodel.xml (applications/datamodel/entitydef) file you can see clearly the goal of that field. When the item is physically shipped the value that changes is the Quantity On Hand (QOH) field of an InventoryItem. The difference between the two fields is that ATP (Available To Promise) is the quantity I still have available for other orders to come for a specific product, while Quantity On Hand (QOH) contains both items already reserved for some orders and items still available for new orders. In short: ATP = QOH - order reservations already made for an item QOH = the items I physically have on the shelf of the warehouse including both items still available and items already reserved Hope it helps. Inventory - PRODUCT_FACILITY - Last_Inventory_Count
Hello Community, I noticed that when I create a sales order with the 'Approved' status the ProductFacility entity gets updated by deducting the reserved product quantity from the last_inventory_count field. Doesn't this should happen only when the item is physically shipped? Regards, Emad

Hello Community, How do we handle the workflow for the sales team that takes inventory items to sell remotely? I understand that Sales Order workflow where we sell directly to customers and inventory reservation happens as part of his process. AW: Editing Inventory Items
Hi Emad, I start with the second question: For example: You may have produced the inventory yourself and just added it with the form. You can also create an Inventory Item via the manufacturing app without the use of purchase orders. First: I had cases where the productId of a product has changed (new company productId-pattern ...). Just created the new product and update the inventoryItem to the new product and here we go. I have implemented use-case where the inventory becomes another product before it expires - different logic applies. Therefore I replace the productId with the new one. The purchase order won't change when you update the InventoryItem entity. You will still see the InventoryItem applied to the purchase order and if you dig deeper you will see that the product relation has changed. The productId + product name and more is stored in the OrderItem entity. It will stay unchanged. + you can easily update the field to "readOnly" in the source code. Inventory Cost
Hello Community, Excellent reports are under the inventory tab regarding items and details that would be very helpful to the business. I understand from Purchase Orders how last price is brought from SupplierProduct but there'r also other entities like ProductAverageCost and ProductCalculatedInfo that are involved and maybe more that I don't know about. My question is about which artifacts are included when reporting 'Inventory Average Costs' for example. Regards, Emad

Hi Emad, when the initial record is done (for example adding product inventory with quantity 10 for productId "demoproduc"t) the inventory item gets +10 QUANTITY_ON_HAND_DIFF +10 AVAILABLE_TO_PROMISE_DIFF’ If a customer creates an order, adding quantity 2 from demoproduct an inventory item detail with AVAILABLE_TO_PROMISE_DIFF -2 is created. AW: Best Practices for reserving inventory
I would say because that is how 99% of the projects prefere to have it done. From my experience a simple standard example: 1) Request: I need about 1000 items from product A 2) Quote: We can offer you 900 items from product A with a price X (checking inventory, production capcities ...). A lot of time goes by until all contract terms a.s.o. are negotiated. 3) Order: 900 items reserved or backordered until ship date (maybe these product have not been produced yet, payment outstanding ...) 4) Invoice created from Order So when it comes to creating the order we have get down to business with a solid contract. There are also projects where I use temporary reservations for blocking other customers from ordering the item until the customer that for example was the first putting the item into the shopping cart created his order. But that was project specific and not wanted in other projects. I think it’s a good idea to block inventory as late in the process as possible as block inventory is inventory not available to promise. -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: Emad Radwan Gesendet: Dienstag, 26. AW: Best Practices for reserving inventory
Hi Emad, in default inventory is reserved when - an order is created or - an order is picked. This depends on your store settings. Settings: Catalog --> Stores --> Store --> Inventory: "Reserve Inventory" to enable it "Reserve Order Enum Id" for the reserve logic (FIFO ...) Additionally to that you have the possibility to create backorders (reserve inventory for products that are not on stock). Reservations are stored in "OrderItemShipGrpInvRes" and will be removed when fullfilled. There are lots of other configurations posibilities to tweak your process like - order reservation priority (defined when creating the order) - reserve from specific facility (defined when creating the order) - temporary reservations (reserve inventory before order is created) - this needs some programming to activate it for your needs. - ... If reservations are still not working: 1.) Check your product store settings 2.) Check your product settings (with demo data GZ-1000 is a good canditate for testing inventory reservations) As far as I know there is no inventory reserve logic for quotes but you can easily create an order from quotes or use temporary reservations. Receiving inventory for a product without supplier
Hello Community, While testing, I was able to achieve the subject scenario, how is this possible?! I defined a product, added a facility, then without adding a supplier for the product, I tried to receive inventory thinking that it’s a flexibility in Ofbiz and that it’ll ask for the supplier while doing this step and link it to the product on the fly, but it didn’t! Is there a scenario where this is possible? Regards, Emad

Hello Pierre, I cannot tell you, because I didn't understand exactly the context of the problem raised by James: it sounds like it could be. The issue in the OFBIZ-12264 has a specific context, but I don't know if James has the same or similar configuration/implementation. @ja...@productive1.com Could you please share more details about the problem? And could you take a look at the OFBiz issue OFBIZ-12264 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-12264> and tell us if you are facing a similar problem? Hello James, Could you please share some more details on the context of usage of the facilities? Are you using them for an e-commerce site (facilities associated to a Product storie) or you use them in totally different context? Thanks, Giulio On Wed, Oct 20, 2021, 20:52 wrote: > > Good Afternoon. We have one main warehouse and 5 virtual warehouse > (i.e. damaged, In Transit, Repairs, etc). Inventory - Receive - Stock transfer and results
Hi Inventory Experts, 1st Question === I am trying to move a serialized product from one location in a facility to another location in the same facility. What I observe is that the process creates another inventory item with the same data where the location has been changed from A to B. What surprises me is that the status on both the rows shows up as INV_AVAILABLE and also the ATP and QOH both show 1. Looking at this Entity it seems like I have 2 of the same items where I have only 1. What am I reading wrong here and how this should be read? 2nd Question === I received the same product (say Prod-1) with the same lot (LOT-1) twice., once with 100 and again with 50 quantities. So I received them twice to the same location (bin/rack etc all same). I see that it creates 2 inventory items with different quantities 1 row with 100 and another with 50). Now if I receive them together, then it creates one inventory_item_id with quantity as 150. Why is this? Should it not be one inventory item id with quantity 150 and it should not matter how I am receiving them. The way I am looking at inventory item entity is that given a facility, location, and product, and a lot(if exists), it should tell me how many of these items are available. 3rd Question === I want to have a 360-degree view of my products, i.e., how they came into my facility, what has been done with them including stock and inventory transfer, and finally where did they go (customer when s/he bought it). I do not see an OOTB functionality for this (unless I am missing something). If there is none, I can build this myself and so I am trying to understand the data underneath. Best, Pratyush
Urgent - Ofbiz Inventory Reservation Going Crazy - Please Help
Good Afternoon. We have one main warehouse and 5 virtual warehouse (i.e. damaged, In Transit, Repairs, etc). Ofbiz seems to re - reserve after every order creation and it is constantly reserving product to these Virtual Warehouses. How can I stop this from happening. How can we simply have First Come First Serve unless we want to reprioritze a single order at a time. This is causing a HUGE headache. Inventory Reservation
Is there a way NOT to reserve inventory at the time of order creation but allow a function in the Facility so that the user can choose what orders get inventory instead of the system choosing? What is the meaning of the following STORE definitions Reserve Inventory Yes or No? Reserve Order Enum ID? Is Immediately Fulfilled? Balance Reserve on Order Creation Require Inventory Yes or No? Hi Woyce, Unfortunately ShipmentReceiptServices.xml no longer exists in trunk from where we backport fixed bugs. I suggest you have a look at https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-11468 and try if you can also replace ShipmentReceiptServices.xml in your OFBiz version following what's done there Alternatively you may create a bug report in Jira for the version 17.12 and 18.12. Hi Woice, Maybe that (the lack of a scheme to generate serial no's automatically) is because what each individual implementer (having the need to use serial no's) defines as an algorithm for the serial number can be as diverse as the preference regarding style and theme in a website/application. Product inventory with weight
Hi everybody, I have the following case and I was wondering if someone already implemented it and would share some know how or anyone has some ideas on it. Business: food Case (example): - Product: Meat, defaultPrice: € 20, productWeight: 500g - inventoryItemId meat01: weight 510g - inventoryItemId meat02: weight 490g The product is weighted and added as inventory with the corresponding weight to ofbiz (inventoryItem has been extended by weight and weightUOM). In the frontend the customer selects a specific inventoryItem with a specific weight. The price is calculated with the inventoryItem weight. I am working on the following changes: - update inventoryItem - add weight and weightUom - update shoppingCartItem - add inventoryItemId - update priceService - if inventory is involved the price takes the inventoryitem weight into account - add table InventoryItemTmpResDetail as the inventoryItemId reference is needed (I already use temporary reservations with the ATP calculation). If a customer adds a product to the shopping cart, the ATP will be reduced until the visit ends or a specific amount of time expired. - update orderItem - add inventoryItemId (on order update the inventoryItem assignment must not change) - override orderReservation Best regards, Ingo

Hi Deepak, Sorry to resurrect this question, has this not been fixed since? Thanks Jacques Le 31/07/2018 à 14:28, deepak nigam a écrit : Hi All, In the current implementation of inventory reservation flow, inventory gets reserved for the order based on the reservation algorithm (FIFO, LIFO etc). Many times, the fulfilment cycle of the order is too long or due to some unexpected circumstances, the order holds the inventory for a long time. In such scenarios, inventory availability becomes one of the major bottlenecks in fulfilling the other sales order and businesses often remains short supplied against the demand. Is there a way to allocate the available and any future supply judiciously amongst existing customers orders by considering different factors like estimated delivery dates, order priority, customer preference etc? Re: Inventory Item ID format change
Hi Nagarajan, InventoryItemId is system generated value, if you want to use it as serial number, it's not the right fit for that. For serialNumner, you can use inventoryItem.serialNumnber field. And if you want to generate it as per your pattern you can write your custom service to generate the inventoryItemId based on your need. You can refer orderSequence_enforced service for reference, and update the code to generate the inventoryItemId. Re: What is the better way to reserve inventory for the item?
Hi Rahul, Please review your ProductStore setup, especially ProductStore.reserveInventory and ProductStore.reserveOrderEnumId fields values. For auto invoking the reservation the reserveInventory flag should be Y. The reserveOrderEnumId decides the reservation algorithm. Business Setup Guide at [1] would be helpful to understand it better. Also you may like to check the other product store inventory related flags and options. As far as your current problem reserveInventory flag should work for you. Hi Mohan, You might also be interested in the 'requirements' functionality. You can find this in the order manager application. Everytime the critical minimum limit of stock is reached when an order has been placed in the system, it will create a requirement for that product. From the suppliers tab in this requirements functionality you can create a purchase order with all requirements for products connected to that supplier. Moving Average Inventory
Team I am trying to follow where the moving average inventory for an item is stored in the system so I can track that things are calculating correctly. Here is an example: On 10-1 I have a beginning inventory of 100 units @ $10 On 10-3 I receive a purchase order of 100 units @ $11 So we have ($1000+$1100)/200 - Moving Average is $10.50 and we have 200 units at that costs I would assume the system calculates the inventory valuation prior to each sell to get an accurate Costs of Goods Sold On 10-5 we have a sale of 100 units. The Costs of Goods Sold should go out at $10.50 This leaves us 50 units @ 10.50 (Where does Of biz store this?) On 10-6 we receive a purchase order of 100 units @10.80 We now calculate our new moving average as ((50 * 10.50)+(100*10.80)/150) = $10.70 (Where does Ofbiz store this) On 10-7 we sell 50 units and our Costs of Goods Sold should go out @ $10.70 Where in Ofbiz can I see the storing of the perpetual moving average? Thanks, James
Re: Inventory Allocation Planning
Hi Deepak, Interesting proposition, this should be discussed in dev ML Thanks Jacques Le 16/08/2018 à 11:28, deepak nigam a écrit : While creating orders from the backend, we have the option to set parameters like 'Ship After Date' and 'Ship Before Date' to manage the fulfilment cycle more efficiently. Inventory gets reserved for the product based on a FIFO basis. Sometimes the fulfilment time for the order is high and inventory unnecessarily gets locked for some time period. We can introduce a new parameter (at order item level) 'Reserve After Date' which will indicate the date only after which reservation can happen. In this way, we can manage the stock availability more efficiently. On Mon, Aug 13, 2018 at 10:35 AM deepak nigam wrote: Thanks, James. Re: Inventory Allocation Planning
While creating orders from the backend, we have the option to set parameters like 'Ship After Date' and 'Ship Before Date' to manage the fulfilment cycle more efficiently.
