[libreoffice-users] Libre Office Calc version 7.3 issues

Salutations for all.
At first I had installed the Libre Office version x64 7.3 on my Windows 10.
I usually use the "calc" part.
It works wisely, but have some issue as follow:
1) In the main Libre Office window, if we issue to open one
previous spreadsheet, the process may last for over one minute, and soon we
can see the message (is not responding). My version is brazilian portuguese;
2) On Graphics, if we try to edit one axis, the edit window may last one
minute to open.
3) I had tried to switch on and off the JRE;
4) The above problem turns worse if we Switch ON the ICL (we almost lost
access to Libre Office;
5) Then, I uninstall the Libre Office x64 and installed the x32 which seems
to work properly, but have other issues on Graphics:
a) It "pretends" to buld the Graphics, but the Graphics function does not
work;
b) When we select one column, e.g., colum "B" for any plotting or function,
the selection, different from the x64 version, select ALL the CALC column;
and not only the "valid content". Anyway, for "functions" the CALC works,
but not plot graphics.
6) I will try to install older versions.
Does anyone have the same issues as me on Windows 10?
Should I configure anything on my Windows 10, or Libre Office, in order to
it to work properly?

As In understood you need to change the color of the letter,
variables and similar that you input in a formula that you make with
with Math. For this you need to select Attribute option from list below
bar.

Hi Remy:

Thank you for your answer an explanation. I'm sorry to answer
some days after but the e-mail was in the spam folder.

I know that I have only 1.5 GB free space on my hard disk.
Probably it is the problem if LibreOffice make a temp file wile running
it great than 1.5 GB when I'm increasing the spreadsheet size.

[libreoffice-users] Great File size problem

Hi all:

I use LibreOffice 6.1.1.2 Snap process and LibreOffice 6.0.6.2
Ubuntu 18.04.1 default.

I tried recently to make a spreadsheet with both LibreOffice
options and I had problems when the file reached more than specified
size. In my case, the last size that I saw was 13.5 MB (512 columns and
8,000 rows, more or less)

Then when I included more data into the file, suddently it
can't be saved in any way, and lost all the content as I can see in the
properties file because it had 35 kb instead 13.5 MB, but in the screen
I could see the spreadsheet as nothing passed. With the file browser I
could confirm the size : 35 kb.

LibreOffice sent to my screen the following message (Please see
the link)

It is in spanish but in english is something like this:

Hi:

Snap system is a Sandbox way to install now programs in many
GNU / Linux distributions. It was develop by Canonical (Ubuntu) and put
able for all the distributios want to use. It try to solve the problems
of securities because as I understand the software installed by this
way can't access nothing than the place where it is installed. Another
benefits, it is easier to the own or develops of the programs to
prepare software to offer updates to the users (less complicated). It
benefits both sides.

you can find LibreOffice as snap installation.

Flatpak is other way that born, as I know, as the same time of Snap and
has similar features, but to know what are all the difference between
them, is necessary to googleing because I don't know all of them
although I red a year ago, more less, an articule in the web about this
topic.

If you have problems with the Flatpak installation in GNU / Linux Mint,
why not probe with the Snap option ?

I understand now your problem...but what is the difference between
LibreOffice version of Flatpak and Snap version ? Why you prefere
Flatpak version ? I've installed before in other computer the Snap
version and all were well, include I could keep the version .deb that
Ubuntu install by default and the more update version by Snap version,
and both run without problems.

Hi Atlan:

   GNU / Linux Mint is a branch of Ubuntu. Ubuntu has a similar system
of install option known as Snap. You can find in the web as Snap
Repositories and then search LibreOffice. There you can install coping
the command into the terminal. To remove : sudo snap remove
libreoffice.

   I guess that Flatpak use similar command and it is different to
usuall .deb options. When we install a .deb file we can use the command
apt-get or apt (only), but Flatpak and Snap use different commands
because use different program to manage the installations.

   If you goggleing as : How to uninstall a Flatpak file, you could
find the answer. It would use a command like this: sudo flatpak remove
"package file name"

Hi Rakidzija :

There is an option that you can use for input a comment into a
cell. If you right click mouse over a specific cell, you get a menu
with differents options. One of them is "Insert a comment" (The last in
my LO Versión: 6.0.3.2).

Select that option an appear a little yellow rectangule where
you can write your comment about some issue of the content of it cell.
This rectangule grow when you input your sentence but when you ending
your wrotten the comment.

When you did it you, the comment closed an appear a red super
little point in the right top corner of the cell where you input the
comment.

Then, always over the cell that content the comment, you can
righ click mouse again and appear 3 more options in the context menu:
Edit, Delete and Show the comment. With each of them you can modify
your comment of the cell. By the way, only with Show Comment option you
can modify the form of the yellow rectangule making more wide (wider
?), for example, to structure the comment to your needs and your sheet.
For do this, you have to select the border of the yellow rectangule
when it is showed. Then if you click right again you can see again in
the menu context but only : Edit,hide (instead show) and delete option
menu. With hide option you can do it and show only the red point in the
cell.

Hi Anne and all:

    Well, if you are using GNU / Linux and open each Presentation From 
the file browser I'm almost sure that you can keep both open and then 
select the slides from one Presentation to the other (Selecting all that 
you want to into the other with copy-paste). I know that it is better 
using an option insert from the own program but if it isn't able or 
finding, this other would be solve your problem (If it exist yet).


    I think that using windows the process is the same, I guess.

 Why not try to use two tabs in web browser to open each Presentation
file, or use two different web browser to open each file, supposed that you
can't download them and then upload them again. I don't know if these

    Why not try to use two tabs in web browser to open each 
Presentation file, or use two different web browser to open each file, 
supposed that you can't download them and then upload them again. I

I'm confused as to the flow of the discussion, and I'm not at all sure I
know what the issue is, but I have no problem inserting an entire
Impress presentation into another Impress presentation.

Here's how I do it with LO 5.1.6 on my Linux Mint machine:

First, I open one Impress presentation file. I then make sure that the
"Slide Panel" is visible by clicking on the menu "View", "Slide Panel"

I then click on the slide in the Slide Panel where I want to insert
another Impress presentation, keeping in mind that the inserted

my cursor focus is in the Slide Panel.

Then, on the menu, I click "Insert", "File...", which on my machine is
down toward the bottom of the Insert menu list. From the resulting
dialog box, I select the Impress presentation I want to insert and then
I am presented with another dialog box from which I can select certain
slides from the inserting file. If I want the entire presentation, I
simply click on "Ok," and the file is inserted into the original
presentation file after the slide I had selected in my Slide Panel.

You can increase it following these steps:


          1) Menu-Tools-Options-LibreOffice-Memory: Here you can 
increase memory to some options.

I am getting column shifting, playing with the Option/LibreOffice/View 
parameters have not helped.  See the example attached.

        In this link you can find the Release Notes of LibreOffice 6.0. 
There are by Type of Program: Write, Calc, and so on, and other more 
complex about Core and more. All of them has at least a brief comment 
about its features. As you can see, the LibreOffice versions before LO 
6.0, haven't these features.

    I use GNU / Linux and happy with it...but if you want to keep 
windows there is a possible to install both operative system together in 
your laptop. It would be used Dual Boot process with an .iso file of 
Ubuntu for example.

    Is true this information ? Is QuickStarter hasn't included on this

Not only not worth enabling, but best to perform a custom installation and

Start Menu and Taskbar--elminating any advantage to enabling the
Quickstarter instance (and of pre loading a soffice.bin).

In reality LibreOffice has had no need of it for Windows 7 onward--and as
you've experienced it can cause issues.

This reminded me to go ahead and poke the UX community with  tdf#116142 --
Remove Quickstarter from Windows builds

finally see this "anti-feature" go away.

    You can modify the size of the icons of toolbars: 
Menu-Tools-Options-View-User Interface-Toolbar Icon Size (Automatic 
-default-, Small, Large and Extra Large).


    Beside, you can customize what icon function keep in the toolbars, 
and reduce it size if you eliminate some icons:


    Menu-Tools-Customize-Toolbars-"Standar bar" and "Formatting bar". 
There it is necessary to uncheck the functions icons that you don't want 
to keep in the toolbars.

possible to keep install both version of a program. Why not probe to 
install "scangearmp" in parallel to "scangearmp2" ? It would solve your 
problem.

I see 6.0.1.x is online for download.  I will install it within a few 
days.


2 of my 3 laptops have both Windows 10 and Ubuntu Mate 16.04 
installed.  The newest laptop is a Ubuntu Mate only box. Right now, 
the second oldest laptop is my default one and is the only one 
running 6.0.x.x.


I will look into the uses of the scanning options with one of those 
other laptops to see if it scanning works.

Hi James and all:

    I suggest to use a Macro. If you don't know what it is, is a 
feature that LibreOffice has to automate the process. It usually run 
well but sometimes crash. To able you can follow this steps:


1) Menu-Tools-Options-Advanced: There Check box "Enable_Macro Recording"

2) Menu-Tools-Macros-Record Macro: There click and appear a "little box" 
that meaning that almost all that you do from this time in LibreOffice 
is recording.


3) After step 2), select Menu-Insert-Image-Scan-Request. Until this you 
did record those steps to scan. Now click Stop Recording button from 
"little box"


4) Now appear a windows dialog where you can record the macro with those 
step you were recording: Select My Macros --> Standard --> New Module--> 
Named as Scan --> Save --> and click accept to overwrite the main option 
there.


5) Now Menu-Tools-Macros-Organize Macros-LibreOffice: Appear a Dialog 
Window where you can see the Macros Library: There select My 
Macro-Standar and find the macro called "Scan" that you save before.


6) Select Scan Module and then select at right : Assign button
7) Appear new Dialog Window: Here, keep "Standard toolbar", and select 
Button Add


8) There appear a new dialog window where you can look again : My Macros 
- Standard. Select "Scan" macro and click Add button


9) Now you can see the "main" item in the list at top. With the arrows 
you can move to top or down the "main" item (This main item represent 
your macro where you record the steps.


10) Select "main" item and select Modify Button. There select Rename and 
input Scan. Accept and now in the same place you can select an icon or 
let as is with the name "Scan"


11) Close the window dialog and the icon-Scan appear in the tool bar at 
top at left if you didn't move with arrow. If you move ... you can find 
along tool bar.

Restricted Extras. This contained programs for music, dvd and more as I 
know. One program that it installs as I could see is ttf-mscorefonts ( 
And request agree with license). I don't know if it is possible to 
install ttf-mscorefonts alone.

I have seen this font installer outside LO.  It was in my Ubuntu 16.04 
repository. BUT, it will not install since it seems to require getting 
the package from an off-repository site. Since these fonts are from 
MS, and the installer seems to be a .exe file, it is not available-maybe.

a couple cells. If one selects 5th week, some of the days will not have a 5th
one in the month, so those are conditioned with the error color scheme.

2) There generate a share link into it folder specific the file you want

    I suggest you to open the old Mac works file with LibreOffice and 
save then the spreadsheet as Calc format (.ods) and look if this new 
spreadsheet keeps show more columns than an usual Calc spreadsheet. 
Remember that all Calc spreadsheets has a 1024 columns (At least in my 
version of LibreOffice 4.2.8.2 Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Newer versions of 
LibreOffice would have more or less quantity of columns, someone would 
confirm this issue)

    I really don't know how count the words the programs that do it ... 
but to be sense, a word has to be a "character or group of characters 
that has meaning by it self"


    As this, a number has meaning by it self, the special character has 
meaning by it self, a ";" doesn't have a meaning by it self because it 
is a grammar character to input to reader takes a breath and change a 
little about the topic is going on in the paragraph. And so on.


    But if the program take for example ";" as a word because it is a 
character, it is wrong to consider a literal translation but in the 
context the translator it would be taken because he has to build the 
translation using it to make a meaning of the translate.


    I think, to clear this topic, it is necessary that the translator 
think how to take some characters like ";", and investigate with the 
programmers of each program like Writer and Gedit, how they make the 
algorithm to count to be sure that he is taken the right quantity when 
is using those programs to his job.

editor window, autoformatting the text for long lines and paragraph breaks.
gpdftext is useful when the downloaded PDF uses a small font or wastes a 
lot of space in the margins so that a plain text file would display in a 
more comfortable font. gpdftext supports spell checking and editor font 
selection

    2) Save the Impress Presentation in .pdf format

        Would you please tell us what version of LibreOffice use you ?, 
it is because some issues are correlations with specific versions. I 
don't know in this case but usually is necessary to know the version if 
it is a cause of a bug.

well, i found the solution, in a program that I have been running for 
about 2 years with great success, glabels.  instead of a label, there 
is an option for a #10 envelope.  glabels works great.  I have been 
using it to print large mailing labels on 9x12 document envelopes.

You seem to have calculated 14000 * ( 1 - U ) / 1.31 instead of 14000

I found both graph clear and making what I need.

Yes, I need the graph and the coordinates of the interception 
both lines too. I follow your equation to find U, and I reproduced it 
well with the same result. But I tried to do the same with A coordinate 
interception: 14000 * ( 1 - U / 1.31 ) and I got : 5813 not 9126. As you

You will have seen Regina Henschel's recipe for a graph. Here is another:
o Select the data block as above and click the Chart button.
o Select "X-Y (Scatter)" and leave all other options as default.

o Right-click a point and select Insert Trend Line... and OK.
o Repeat for a point on the other line.

But do you really want to see the graph, or perhaps just find the 
coordinates of the point of intersection, as was perhaps hinted at by 
your original request? Application of similar triangles shows that the 
U coordinate of the point of intersection is given by

1.31 * 1.37 * (14000 - 13680) / (1.37 * 14000 - 13680 * 1.31)
and that the A coordinate is
14000 * ( 1 - U / 1.31)
- where U is the U coordinate calculated above.

You will see that these give the intersection point as A=9126, U=0.456.

Sorry, but this makes no sense. Each pair of value here defines a 
point, not a line. There are an infinity of lines that you can draw 
through any point, having all possible gradients.You need at least two 
points to define a line, and then only on the assumption that the line 
is straight.

The infinity of possible lines through each of your two points 
intersect in a infinity of places. The question is not well enough 
defined to be answered. From your knowledge if the quantities that you 
are plotting, could you assume that both graphs go through the origin,

the answer to your query would then be trivial: the lines cross at (0,0)!



And I prefer that A go in X axis and U in Y axis.


That's easy: just reverse the order of your columns of data. It is 
very easy to move or copy data.


I couldn't do it yet. I put the data in some orders but I can get the 
graph.


That's because - with only one point in each set of data - there is no 
graph to get.

I've tried to graph these data that show two lines, first 1.37 with 
13680 and 1.31 with 14000, in the same graph. I want that the graph show 
where the lines intersect. And I prefer that A go in X axis and U in Y axis.

As I understand, there is a way to use some information from 
other authors: Put quotation marks to the information that we need to 
reference and put a footer where we have to put the information of the 
authors and more. When we use a graph, we can do similar. And I think it 
doesn't break the copyright.

recovery fails and I have to click on the ‘discard the files’ button.


I created a video showing the problem, but a 25 second video (.avi) 
was 3.6GB, not sure why it was that large. I used Kazam.


I removed libreoffice-draw (with the purge command) and reinstalled it 
(both from the command line). It still has the same problem.

restart.  So I did the restart and now it works!  I can't figure out

change, I would appreciate knowing.  Then if this happens again I'll

I suggest to do this in the Language-Language settings:

*User Interface: Select English US

*Locale Settings: English (Canada)

*Decimal Separator Key: uncheck

*Default Currency: Default CAD (English or French)

*Default Language for Documents: A English Canada or French

*Ignore system input language: check

I did this in my LO, and restart LO, and then LO accept " . " 
as decimal separator key

I suggest:

a) Open the file as is: csv
b) Mark the column that content all the information
c) Use: Menu, Edit, Search and Replace ... click there
d) In the window opened: In the first row for input what to search,
input and "space" with spacebar
e) In the second row for input what to replace, keep without input
f) Apply the option Replace All
g) Now if all is good, you are eliminate the space after "name" field
h) Save the file again as csv
i) Now you can close the file and open again or use the option: Menu,
Data, Text to Column to split the fields in the column

Did you probe usb for boot repair disk (Burn it in a usb flash 
memory and would be boot there with your Bios). In GNU / Linux you can 
use UNetbootin, and in windows there are other similar solutions.

for LO if a big company like Canon uses LibreOffice.

I used to work for a company that used OpenOffice (this was before
LibreOffice was available).  I suspect the only reason they did was
because they were so d@mn cheap, they wouldn't pay for MS Office.  ;)


Well cheap or not, it is nice to have as many big companies using
LibreOffice as possible.

I bet there are a lot of people out there, and on these lists, that
are using LO not because of being "cheap".  It is nice to have a free
office suite but I prefer LO over MS Office. Just like I prefer to
use Linux over Win10 because of all of the viruses and other nasties
that Windows have, while Linux do not have these things infect their
systems.



And the suggestion that the latest crypt virus may have been
introduced to computers through a document macro makes me more
comfortable using LO without MSO on any win PCs.

Well, if you look at the CNN Headline News, they have stated that MS has
a patch for this virus, but wanted to charge some users for it. The
on-air comment seems to say that since MS had the patch, they should
have sent it out to ALL MS Windows users.  Plus, it the patch was
installed, most computers would not have been infected.

Fro me, I use Linux so I do not have the security problems as MS Windows
users.  I do have Win10, but rarely use it.  Most times I just go to the
Win 10 partition to run the update app.

Hi Pieter and all:

As first answer but not necesary the best, BASE has it own report way,
but before you can filter or use query or mix tables data to make
consultation (Option below Tables at left). Then, after you make it, you
can go to Form option (The last option at left).

In both options you can use Wizzards or make by your self. I suggest
you to use Wizzards to probe how is going on and if you like the
results. If not, try by your self, but this need to know better the
program performance.

As I remember, Base generate a Report in Writer program that you can
edit after.

Hi Tedc:

I did the similar process with a document with my printer HP-3050, and
it work well. At least in my printer I have some levels of Postscript to
select.

The problem would be in your printer driver capacities. I use Ubuntu
14.04 LTS with Cups and HPlip (Both in the repositories of Ubuntu)

Process that I did: Select Print in LibreOffice, then there select
Properties, there you can find Divice Option, and there you can select
Type of language of printer: Select Postscript. Then select Print to
File Option in Option Topic out of Properties ( In the main window ).

I've searched information in the web but usually it is more complex
than my knowledge can evaluate. For example, in Wikipedia found
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_distribution, but it so deep for me,
but show some graph with different values of Beta and Alpha that could
help me.

I found some others like this, easier to understand the information:

And found a program named "SciDavies" that could help me too.

But the major problem to me is my knowledge in statistics. It is not to
deep, although I already found some books that could help me too.

LibreOffice can't help with its formulas to solve my problem directly.

About:

(1) Yes, I'm not an english native language, but because this list and
much more in the world are in english language, I tried to do it in english but
It's so hard to do as you ! 

I understand that usually the sentences talk us by itself and
we don't need the symbols as questions mark, but I tried to do well
forgotten for example that in english you only use the last question
mark.

(2) When I made the survey, I couldn't catch the problem about the last
button because I'm a spanish language (I found it natural for the end of the
survey). The button "Listo" meaning something like "ready" (Conclude). When you
haven't filled the question one or two or both and click to "Listo" button, the
process send you again the survey to complete it with a message in spanish
(I'm sorry). The message is this at the biginnins of each questions: "! Esta
pregunta requiere una respuesta" in red color. The meaning is something like
this: "This question require an answer."

But if you conclude to fill both questions the button "Listo" end the
process of the survey.


(3) In the question one, the categories list some usually organizations
that we would find in the world. Before the end of the list show the "Others" 
option
that can select to individual business, or used by group of individuals 
associated.
In the list you can find other kind of organizations (Profit and non profit),
that you can select. In the last option of the first question, you can describe
the name and the type of the persons, group, organization and more that you know
that use LibreOffice.

About the size of the organizations, I really didn't think in that ! It 
is a
good and interesting data that we would have gotten.

I'm sorry if these kind of issues affected you and others to do the 
survey.

I'm sorry ... I can't understand your problem with googleish because
when I did the survey and when I filled it I haven't this kind of
problem. I don't know why google is into the process's survey.

About "Small Business", you are right ... it's better to know that, but
I didn't think on that when I made the survey. It was my fault.

I can't understand why the surveymonkey site changed the language.

1) Load the menu Office-Base.
2) Drag and Drop the Icon-Menu Base to the desktop
3) Right click on icon Base desktop, find properties and then click there
4) Look there the Order statement
5) Copy the statement order
6) Open a terminal (Console)
7) Paste the statement order Copied before (Right click on the terminal)
8) Type Enter
9) If Base not run ... look the message that appearer in terminal
10) Copy that message and paste in a e-mail to here and probably someone know 
to help you

Hi Larry and all:

At first you have to copy the headers of your table at you side of you
table for example or at the end if it isn't big.

Then you have to add the filter that you need and put bellow of the
header that you want to filter.

Then run the wizard : Advanced Filter (Before select the table that you
want to filter) and in options you can select where to put the datas
filtereds.

Example:

Table

Province Sells Costs Profits
Alajuela 10 2 8
Puntarenas 20 1 19
Limón 20 4 16
Heredia 10 7 3
San José 20 5 15
Alajuela 10 8 2
Heredia 40 9 31
Puntarenas 50 12 38

Advanced Filter:(Read Filter Criteria From)

Province Sells Costs Profits

Results of Advance data Filtereds:

In this case, we filtered the column Sells to show only Province that
have sells higher than 20

I think that style «Automatic (Human)» is the most basic style (default

Hi Felipe:

I interested in make a macro like this because I've had in past jobs to
work with files generated with other system in .txt format. They are a
lot and I had to open and got their data to paste on a spreadsheat for
working with them. Those files generated each month with the same
structure but different information. I could make a macro where I put
the generic name of each file for getting that information. I could
change the name of files generated each month with a program to allow
change names of file in group (To put the generic name that I input in
the macro).  

This is why I want to know how make this macro,

As I understand, it depends of the Theme and Icon Style that you have
installed in your LO:

Menu-> Tools-> Options-> View-> User Interface-> Theme and Icon Style

For example:

In my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS->LibreOffice 5.1.4.2-> Style Oxygen-> Icon is a
Diskete with Asterisk white with Border green.

In my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS->LibreOffice 5.1.4.2-> Style Galaxy-> Icon is a
Diskete with a little Asterisk white with Border orange.

In my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS->LibreOffice 5.1.4.2-> Style Human-> Icon is a
Hard Disk with an arrow pointing down but when something is changed in
the spreadsheet, it turns to Diskete with Asterisk white with Border
green. Then, after save, it change again to Hard Disk.

[libreoffice-users] Trying to make a macro

I try to make a macro in Calc to insert a sheet from a file in .txt
format or .csv using the LO process: Record macro.

I did it but the macro run and stop in the directory where the file is,
but not record the select and not open the sheet although I did when I
recorded the macro.

The code that the process wrotten is this, would you please guide me to
finish:

1) GCStar

2) Tellico

Both have multiple options to import and export information. By the way,
my little knowledge can't permit to me to share with you what kind of

DB to open document:

1) MDBtools (View and export MSAccess db)

2) Kexi of Caligra Suite that say it is able to read MS Access db

is normal to have to use a new program some days to get use to it. It is
like to use a new car or a new house.

Enjoy LibreOffice as is because it offers you almost feature that you
can find in office.

Please don't ask to van Gogh to paint like Miró because they are
diferents, only enjoy theirs pictures.

Hi all:

Using Google I found some web sites where I could learn my first
lessons about SQL. With this I could solve my problem to Group my data
in BASE.

But then, I found that the file Spreadsheet that I've using was locked
(user permissions). Well I made a copy of the file with my permissions
and then make the db with Base conection and I could group with Wizard
of BASE.

Thank so much to all that thought to help me but not had time.

I have two options when I conect to a external spreadsheet data with
BASE:

1) Conect with the third option when start the wizard selecting:
spreadsheet.

In this case we can import the structure and data from it.

The first options is keep the conections with the original spreadsheet,
in other words, we can't modifie the structure import and use functions
when make a Consult for example (At least with my little knowledge).

Depend what you are going to do with data, is enough as is.

2) The second option is when we conect to external data because we need
to work we them with all options that usually offer BASE when we create
a new data base. In this situations we need import data but then split
conection with original data and make an independent data base.

At least I can't do this with BASE.

Would you please answer this:

a) With SQL options we can use the function "group" or other funtions
when make a Consult to solve my problem ? or with a Macro ?

b) If not (Point a)), where I can expose this situation that would be
improbe BASE in the future ?

Until I know, LO for Android is in progress but at this moment as a
viewer only and Alpha or begining Beta version (not stable) for LO as we
use in GNU / Linux and windows.

There is an other version that could help you and your friend: This is
Aoo (Android OpenOffice). It is a version of OpenOffice for Android.
I've used it and it works good (In general as I probed: Writer, and
Calc). It is the nearest of LO at this moment that I know.

As I read, Aoo is based on OpenOffice but is not part of Apache
Fundation.

I suggest to your friend that use keyboard and mouse with your tablet
too.

[libreoffice-users] Impress Congratulations

In my actuals labors I haven't used frecuently Impress to make a
presentation, ... but I run Impress 5.1.2.2 on Ubuntu Beta 16.04 to know
how is at this momment and find that the people (Specially programmers)

I think that you can do this:

If you can lock Row A

a)Select, the rest of the sheet A2 to AMJ1048576, then go to 
b)Menu-Format-Cell-Protect Cell-uncheck protect box, then go to
c)Menu-Tools-Protect Document-Document
d)There, asign a password if you want, and keep check both boxes there. 
 
Now you can work in whatever cell except in all cells of row A.

You can do this in whatever cell or cells that you want to lock.

Thank you for your clear explanation. If I understood you well, this
happen when we predefined the table in Base that we think that we will
need. But when I have needed do it, I didn't make the table, I only use
connect option (when start BASE), with a .db (spreadsheet -.ods-) that I
have in my file directory. I think that in this way BASE create the
table with the characteristic of the origin (.ods file).

Excuse me if I understood bad your problem.

I understood that you need import a .CSV file to BASE with BASE. And
You can't do it.

I suggest to you to open the .CSV file with CALC. Then save it as .ODS.
Finally, import from BASE the .ODS file.
