Maven 2.04, Eclipse 3.1/WTP 1.0 combination?
Hello everyone, I'd like to use Maven 2.04 together with the Servers view in Web Tools Project 1.0 (alternatively Eclipse 3.2/WTP 1.5). The servers view allows to start an application server or servlet container inside Eclipse, allowing to debug easily. Unfortunately, WTP expects all libraries in WEB-INF/lib, as defined by the Servlet specification. Mavens Eclipse-Plugin (which has basic WTP support) links all dependencies directly from the local Maven repository. Can I tell the plugin to copy all libs to WEB-INF/lib, or to somehow modify WTP configuration to pull libraries from the repository? Of course I can put my libraries to WEB-INF/lib by hand, but then the dependency management feature of Maven is of no use to me. Re: maven, dependencies and eclipse wtp
Okay... I got it to work. Great! I didn't realize that you should run eclipse:eclipse every time a dependency is added to let it update the .component file. The only problem I have now, is when I use the m2eclipse plugin for eclipse. After enabling the Maven2 nature for the project it complains about duplicate entries. I think I saw some mails on the list about this, so I'll check those first. Hello, Create a new packaging as it was made for developing netbeans modules using maven. For more information, just check the netbeans plugin at mevenide.codehaus.org (in the source repository, you can find a mojos subdirectory where that plugin is located) Hope this helps. Aggregate option for Javadoc and Source XRef
Hi, I'm trying to have the javadoc and source xref of the different modules of my project linked together. I put : plugin groupIdorg.apache.maven.plugins/groupId artifactIdmaven-javadoc-plugin/artifactId configuration aggregatetrue/aggregate /configuration /plugin plugin groupIdorg.codehaus.mojo/groupId artifactIdjxr-maven-plugin/artifactId configuration aggregatetrue/aggregate /configuration /plugin But I don't see the difference with aggregatetrue/aggregate. I have another request : when I put the reports in the parent pom, the generated site display empty pages for most of the reports, saying that No project sources were found. As it's a project with modules, it could be interesting to not display these reports on the main page, or better to present a summary of each module report. -- _ Julien HENRY | **Capgemini Sud **| Nice www.fr.capgemini.com http://www.capgemini.com/ Porte de l’Arénas – Entrée B | 455 Promenade des Anglais | 06200 Nice **Join the Collaborative Business Experience ** _ This message contains information that may be privileged or confidential and is the property of the Capgemini Group. [m2] surefire classloading issue
Hi, I'm using Maven 1, trying to migrate. We are using Betwixt and some of our unit tests fail when run using surefire, but run fine in IntelliJ or Maven 1. Betwixt looks for descriptors with the name of the class + .betwixt to control how something is written out in XML. It uses the construct: myClass.getResource() to find the .betwixt file. E.g. com.mycomp.MyClass - com/mycomp/MyClass.betwixt We have a betwixt file for the java.util.Date class. However, betwixt seems to be unable to pick it up when using surefire. I have created a small test that shows the problem. import junit.framework.TestCase; import java.util.Date; import java.net.URL; public class CLTest extends TestCase { public void testClassloading() { ClassLoader classLoader = getClass().getClassLoader(); System.out.println( classLoader: + classLoader ); URL resource = getClass().getResource( /java/util/Date.betwixt ); System.out.println( resource: + resource ); ClassLoader dateClassLoader = Date.class.getClassLoader(); System.out.println( dateClassLoader: + dateClassLoader ); URL dateResource = Date.class.getResource( /java/util/Date.betwixt ); System.out.println( dateResource: + dateResource ); } } When running this class through IntelliJ, the output is: classLoader: [EMAIL PROTECTED] resource: file:/C:/javatests/surefire-test/target/classes/java/util/Date.betwixt dateClassLoader: null dateResource: file:/C:/javatests/surefire-test/target/classes/java/util/Date.betwixt However, when using surefire, I get: classLoader: [EMAIL PROTECTED] resource: file:/C:/javatests/surefire-test/target/classes/java/util/Date.betwixt dateClassLoader: null dateResource: null any ideas? regards, Wim

assembly plugin: dependency wildcards
Hi, is there a way to use wildcards in include/exclude elements in dependency sets? There is a feature requirement [1], not yet implemented. I was wondering if new features in assembly plugin 2.1 [2] and [3] may provide this functionality (maybe I can define a repository with a set of version-aligned dependencies, and include a dependency on this repository in the dependencySet element). Anybody tried it and/or got it working? You can't if its the first time you've run maven, anyone trying to use maven for the first time can't get the proper plugins because its looking for Snapshots on codehaus. Seems if your going to do a full release of maven it would be wise to base it on full releases of the plugins in the mirrors, or at least a full release of maven and/or any plugin maintained and required by maven should be full released and often, then this sort of thing wouldn't happen. Look at Eclipse and the way they organize thier updates into integration, stable and release builds. For instance, EMF has a interim and stable update sites. This is one of the reasons I really pushed to have separate snapshot and release repositories at Apache, product stability. -Mark p.s. there was a comment I should set up a mirror or something crazy like that, it assumes I have some extensive knowledge of maven, which at this point with maven 2 I don't. build changes problem continuum 1.0.3
Hi, I'm using continuum 1.0.3 (upgraded from 1.0.2) and the build change output in the build results view does not display the correct changes. I have two consecutive builds (a shell project using CVS as SCM) where I have the same build changes?! It correctly detects that there are changes so it triggers a build but the actual changes dsiplayed are wrong (same as the last build) and contains no information about who made them. This used to work in 1.0.2 Is this a know issue? Regards, Mattias

mvn eclipse:plugin and project inheritance
Hi, I have a parent pom.xml project in C:\someplace\pom.xml that has modulemoduleA/module modulemoduleB/module Then I have C:\someplace\moduleA\pom.xml C:\someplace\moduleB\pom.xml If I execute: C:\someplace\mvn clean C:\someplace\mvn compile C:\someplace\mvn test That works great for moduleA, moduleB If I execute: C:\someplace\moduleA\mvn eclipse:eclipse C:\someplace\moduleB\mvn eclipse:eclipse That works great to create eclipse projects for moduleA, moduleB If I execute: C:\someplace\mvn eclipse:eclipse This causes a problem. If I refresh moduleA, moduleB projects in eclipse after doing so, they complain about not finding the other subprojects. What is the best-practice here? Is there a workaround for this? Hi, Can anybody tell me if it is possible to have profiles activate each other and how to do this? The thing is that I have a certain 'default' profile and several extra profiles that need one or two extra modules and/or dependencies and/or plugins. Now I know that I can use the command-line to activate multiple profiles, but it would be nice to tell a profile that it has sort of a 'dependency-profile' which it MUST activate. Problem installing parent POM
I'm having some problems building a multi module project. The first module, XXX A Server API, builds fine and I can deploy it into my repository. The second module, XXX B Server API, wont build as it can't find the parent POM in the repository. Priority in Profiles
Hi, How is the priority in the order of Profiles determined? I am running maven with 4 activated profiles, 2 of them over the '-P' and the other 2 over the '-D' and property-activation. 2 of these Profiles (1 from the '-P' and 1 from the '-D') set properties for the build. One of these properties is set with a different value, depending on which profile sets it. Now the question is, which profile will set this property? And if I change something in my POM (e.g. the order of the profiles) or in the command (e.g. the order of the '-P' and '-D' or the order inside the '-P'/ '-D'), will the value remain the same as it was before or is the priority different somehow? Brett Porter pravi: The Maven team is pleased to announce the release of the Maven Site Plugin, version 2.0-beta-5. * [MSITE-104] - There is no way to specify the input encoding of site documents I was eagerly awaiting this feature. Thanks! Writing documentation in UTF-8 works now, ... but menu items in site.xml still don't work. XML prolog is clearly stating ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8? for site.xml. This is not even neccessary, I think, as encoding is taken from plugin artifactIdmaven-site-plugin/artifactId version2.0-beta-5/version configuration inputEncodingUTF-8/inputEncoding outputEncodingUTF-8/outputEncoding /configuration /plugin So, it works in apt, xdoc and fml, but not in site.xml. SNAPSHOT question
Hi, if I have pom.xml for a project that has version1.0-SNAPSHOT/version and I do: mvn deploy It sends up a release with the timestamp in the 1.0-SNAPSHOT/ dir. However, what if a developer wants to do a release, not a snapshot? If I try mvn -Dversion=1.2 deploy It uploads a new SNAPSHOT with a timestamp into the 1.0-SNAPSHOT dir. Re: Dependency search engine?
Here are 2 such sites: http://www.mvnregistry.com http://mvnrepository.com Also, if the artifact you're looking for is in your local m2 repo, Jerome Lacoste posted a blog entry on how to search it for things: http://www.coffeebreaks.org/blogs/?p=47 Wayne On 5/16/06, Mark Diggory [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi everyone, is there any effort to put together a dependency search engine that would allow one to search the maven repository for a particular dependency not knowing its group id or proper version to use. Re: SNAPSHOT question
You're looking for mvn release not deploy. Release will update the version tags and install the artifact properly in the specified repositories. However its a little more complex than simply mvn release so check out the m2 book (better builds with maven), the user list archive, the maven website, etc for details. However, what if a developer wants to do a release, not a snapshot? If I try mvn -Dversion=1.2 deploy It uploads a new SNAPSHOT with a timestamp into the 1.0-SNAPSHOT dir. Is there some way to override this? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
