Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 128 support

2024-08-22 Thread Lukas Wringer
Hi,

I think you are mixing some stuff up -

caldav - protocoll for syncing **calendars**
carddav - protocoll for synching **contacts**

The SOGo Plugin is only a frontend to more or less easy configure the
native support for those protocolls built into Thundebrird.

Configuring them via the standard Thunderbird UI will provide the
excact same results as using the plugin.

What the plugin actually offers over just using plain Thundebrird is
allowing to create and modify calendars and adressbooks directly in
SOGo. Which is cool but not a deal breaker to me at least...

Long ago with the old Thunderbird 68 the plugin had its own carddav
implementation as Thunderbird had none at the time but that has been
dropped for alle subsequent versions... That one did offer the
synchronisation of contact lists which is no longer possible due to
neither Thunderbird nor SOGo supporting vCARD 4.0 native lists...

Hi,

ActiveSync isn't a good option anyway. Look for a CalDAV/CardDAV Client
like Mozilla Thunderbird, eM-Client (or Apple Calendar/Contacts
allthough it doesn't work with Ventura at the moment)

I installed it via the policy engine, maybe that had a weird effect, or
the fact that the old verson for 91 was installed before. Normally 2
complete restarts (CMD+Q) of the app are enough - now it took 4... the
Icons in the address book are still missing (as it is expected by the
complete redesign of it) but the calendar icons appear now after a bit
of loading time.

Hi,

I also tested the new beta, on macos (TB 102.4.1), but there the sogo
buttons are still not shown. Allthough the subscribed calendars and
addressbooks are added automatically.

The Plugin-Version is now shown as 102.0.0 so I must be on the correct
commit right?

Bonjour Sebastien,

i can see the icons in the calendar tab now. The icon in the centre and
on the right seem to work, but the left icon/button "Create CALENDAR"
opens the "Create new ADDRESSBOOK" dialogue window. But after entering a
name and hitting the button "Create" nothing happens. The window stays
opened.

Maybe it is just a translation mistake for German language because in
the old AddOn 78.0.1 the left icon/button also opens the "Create new
ADDRESSBOOK" dialogue window and after entering a name, a new calendar
gets successfully created.

The corresponding error in the Thunderbird ErrorLog  after hitting the
create button in the dialogue Window is:

Re: [SOGo] Is SOGo Connector dead?

2022-10-28 Thread Lukas Wringer
Hi,

yes the core features are more or less available natively now
(allthough the discovery feature is not automatic yet). For us the
biggest problem with the connector is to loose the ability to sync
address lists after TB 68.

Creating and configuring calendars and address books and managing ACLs
is only a nice to have but not realy a critical feature. Having the
ability to keep every bit of data in sync is much more important.

I think a shift to implement vCard 4.0 in SOGo (and a corresponding
pull request for Thunderbird) to have actual RFC-compliant
synchronization of adress lists instead of binding ressources to a
limited (because of the new AddOn format) extension that breaks every
release would be a lot better. And even if Thunderbird doesn't move
quickly enough to vCard 4.0 there is still CardBook...

[SOGo] Thunderbird next (102?) support

2022-02-16 Thread Lukas Wringer
Hi,

just to be prepared I tested the plugin with the newest Daily version
(99.0a1) of Thunderbird. And as expected it breaks. Calendars and
address books still will be added automatically but the SOGo controls
are missing, as well as the new symbol for address books.

Now that we have a release for the current TB version it would be very
cool if you could already start working to support the next release so
that we aren't so far behind next time.

Maybe tracking https://developer.thunderbird.net/planning/roadmap would
be a good idea...

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 91, SOGo Connector

Hi,

I am testing it at the moment, the following I have found so far:

- There is no way to unsubscribe from address books
- The (non native) settings of address books are kinda broken ege. there
is a read-only checkbox marked that can not be edited, renaming does not
work

- Some texts on the ACL dialogs (calendar and address books) are missing

On the positive side, the ACLs of calendars seem to work better now, at
least the read only calendar I have subscribed is marked as read only in
Thunderbird to. On older Versions I had to fix that manually...

[SOGo] Thunderbird 78+ plugin missing features

2021-01-19 Thread Lukas Wringer

Hi,

so as I often said, for us the two main missing features in the new
Plugin Version being:

- The global read-only addressbook (people)
- Synchronized address lists

Is there any way we could help to get these features implemented - for
example by Payment?

Greetings - Lukas

ok, at least for the 100% reproducable ones I put them there.

But there is a general instability with every sogo specific function and
carddav functions that are like whack-a-mole, every time I try to
reproduce it it is gone and comes back randomly...

yes, especially that the default adress books are neither deletable nor
renameable introduce weird effects (because default SOGo address books
are named the same, at least after l10n happens)

And at least for the missing read-only address books and lists (a
blocker for us) I did create feature-request-bugs in mozillas bugzilla ;-)

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird Status

2021-01-13 Thread Lukas Wringer

Hi,

I think it was just to early to use the MZLA/Mozilla integration of
CardDav. I tried it without the plugin (in 78*) and it was just garbage
(it is still on proof-of-concept level imho). Maybe we just have to skip
78 for good...

I think the only way for even 86 (or whatever will be the next final) to
work properly (with lists, read-only address books, and so on) would be
if SOGo and MZLA could work together on this.

Although on Beta 85 CardDav is enabled by default...

greetings, Lukas

Hi Christian,

I have started with SOGo some time back in 2011 and still love it after
about 10 years. It does everything I need and look for and I keep
recommending it! Great work once more and once again!!

This time though I have to admit I am slightly disappointed on whatever
happens around the Plugin for TB78. I have tested it over and over again
with varying results, always using the latest versions of the SW
required. And with various comments here in the mailing list.

But I fully agree, it is not production ready.

So for now I stay on TB68 in Prod and have a test instance with TB78
using TbSync/provider for CalDAV and CardDAV/Category Manager. That is
sort of ok but nothing I would recommend in larger scenarios. I am
really (really really, Ludovic) looking forward to having a reliably
working SOGo Connector for Thunderbird 78.

What is the bottle neck?

Kind regards
Frank

Hello all,
I wanted to ask what the current plan/status is of the TB Plugin for
78. It is not really ready for production yet.

So what are the plans?
Is there a timeline?
What are other doing in the meantime? Stay on 68 ?

Regards

Re: [SOGo] TB78 and latest connector

2020-12-23 Thread Lukas Wringer

Hi,

I built the newest Version from github today. I tried it on a clean
Thunderbird 78.6.0 - this is the result:

CardDav:
- No addresses get synced from sogo/server, neither automatic nor on
manual trigger (address books are empty - personal, subscribed or global
ones) (New contacts from TB to sogo does work..)

- It looks like I could delete local address books by the sogo buttons
(but doesn't do anything)

- I can not delete my sogo address books (personal, collected) I get the
same error as when you would delete the default address books of TB

CalDav:
- Unsubscribing calendars (still) won't do anything (Maybe this error:
Uncaught TypeError: promptDeleteCalendar is not a function) has
something to do with it?

- I have like a hundred of these "CalDAVACLManager.js: calendar acl
entry not initialized" in the error log

Greetings,

Lukas

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 78 Connector

2020-11-20 Thread Lukas Wringer
Hi,

so I just built the most recent version from github, and I just wanted
to let you know that the unsubscribe function for calendars is still
broken and there is still no unsubscribe for address books (only delete).

PS: Is it better to post these bugs here or on the sogo bug tracker so
they don't get lost?

Greetings

Because not everyone has a autoconfig server at their disposal and you
have to manage SRV-Records for any maildomain and stuff...

The new policy engine via policies.json (or via GPO, or Apple MDM) on
the other hand would be nice - and would work for everyone and you can
lock the settings this way.

So you could build one plugin that works for everyone enterprise and end
users.

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird78 + address book sync

2020-11-03 Thread Lukas Wringer
Hi,

as mentioned in a post by mozilla/mzla there is no syncing feature in
Thunderbird implemented directly - yet (it is in beta 81). Is the Sync
implemented in the plugin instead? Or do you wait for the next TB release?

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 78 Support

2020-10-14 Thread Lukas Wringer
Hi,

I did build the latest version today and noticed that I could not
unsubscribe from calendars

Also there is no unsubscribe button for address books - which is a bit
confusing, as I don't wanna accidentally delete an address book.

It is also a bit strange that for subscribed calendars it is not my
E-mail address configured but the one of the owner - which could break
invitations with mail-servers that require a matching login for the
address - which is the majority I think - if sent via client

And for the Problem with the non-fully downloaded I still hope it could
be fixed in the plugin - otherwise we can just hope for MZLA to
implement it - here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1668788

as well as the missing sync for lists:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1668791

I'm still not sure which of those two missing features is more severe.

Greetings

[SOGo] Thunderbird 78 Support

2020-09-28 Thread Lukas Wringer
Hi,

I tested the plugin a bit and noticed that I had to put in the full URI
for my username into the 'baseURL' -> http://URI.example/SOGo/dav/username/

When I stop at '/dav/' it generates garbage like
'SOGo/dav/Calendar/Calendar' 'SOGo/dav/Calendar/Contacts' etc. and when
I only use the 'https://URI.example/' it wont even ask me for a login...

Also there seems to be an issue with the mail address for the calendars
- it states 'nslMsgidentity: caldav_1'

---

> 2. nothing works regarding the SOGo Update Server - as Mozilla dropped
>entirely the RDF code

At least with Enterprise Policy (policies.json) you could kinda set it
(to install SOGo Connector globally we already would have to use this
anyway starting with TB78)

> 2. it won't be possible to synchronize lists

What a bummer, a much used and wanted feature in the last version - a
rather important reason why we are in the middle of moving to SOGo
Connector.

Are there plans to fix this in the future? If not directly - by
borrowing a trick from tbsync and cardbook by using the categories? - Oh
wait

> 3. GAL address books from SOGo are fully sync'ed

You mean the global address books (people)? This could be a blocker - We
have more than 25000 user in there, so this wont work...or? (btw. for
now it synced only 200 of them and then stopped). On of the most
important features for us, as using ldap directly crashes TB, if the
server is not reachable (which it is only in internal network)

Greetings
