Re: copying and pasting on the iphone

2012-12-03 Thread Mickey Quenzer
It would be good if you could move the edit field between the word and
character fields the this way it would be easier to edit text. I find that
changing the router settings to words before doing the pinch gesture allows you
to select more text

Hi all and thank you for the help. I have a payment that is eligible for
same-day delivery. There is there are two checkboxes one is for same-day
delivery and it seems that when this boxes checked it says delivered by and
give the date of delivery which would be the same day and then it says the
$14.95 the other button is one business day. I can't seem to tell which one is
checked and which one is not.
The boxes are numbered one and two I think two is for one business day and one

Re: difficulty with a calendar subscription

2012-12-03 Thread Damashe Thomas
I really don't know what the problem is. My calendar is also a team schedule,
it's the Atlanta Falcons though. My calendar is always one hour ahead, so I get
alerts an hour before the game starts. I have been thinking of trying another
calendar to see if it solved the problem, but since yours works fine on the mac
it must not be the calendar. It is a very curious problem.

Darn, I was hoping there was a simple fix. I know there's nothing wrong with
the calendar I am subscribed to because it works fine on my mac. It's the
Arizona Cardinal's schedule. I don't watch the game but I need to know when the
games are because the cardinals are important to the guys here. I have tried
turning time zone up port on and off, shutting my iPhone down and turning it
on, I just can't figure it out. I've even tried other setting on my mac to see
if it would help.

Is this a bug or operator error?

  Thanks,

iPhone Doesn't Find Bluetooth Earphone

2012-12-03 Thread Bill Gallik
Boy, I don't get this. I had paired my iPhone 5 (with iOS 6.0.1) with
the Plantronics M155 several weeks ago. Today though, the iPhone 5 isn't
finding any Bluetooth devices; it just has some headings such as "In
Progress" and "Devices" and "Is now . . . (whatever)."

Does anybody have any suggestions; I did have to back p my iPhone from my PC

Re: copying and pasting on the iphone

2012-12-03 Thread Shane Clark
Hi,
To get the rotor to edit mode, You must be in and edit field, then once you
turn your rotor, edit mode will show up. Also to Select text, you can use the
pinching gesture. That is where you take your fingers and put two of them on
the screen, and slide them slightly apart, to select text. I am still trying to
get this one down as well. For me, it's kind of tricky.

Hello,

This process is very easy to accomplish.
1. Open the notebook from which you want to delete a file.
2. find the note you want to edit - in this case delete.
3. Flick once to the right until you hear voiceover announce "note
title (insert title name here), then double-tap on the file to view
the note.
3. Flick twice to the left and voiceover should announce the "delete
button."

My own question dealing with Evernote, when importing PDF files, is
there a way to have them not be set as images because voiceover cannot
read the text unless I copy & paste the file content. This is similar
for the Macintosh. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: i tunes

2012-12-03 Thread Cheryl Homiak
Okay, I've been playing with the search box.

After you type your search, you see "show in music". Hit enter right there
instead of arrowing down or tabbing or vo-arrowing. Then vo-right-arrow to the
browser and yo'll see the genres and artists and albums and can narrow it down
by selecting there. Or just keep going to the music table and all the results
of your search will be there and you can hit enter on any one of them and play
it. There are probably quicker ways to get across to the browser and music
table but I haven't worked on that yet.
The songs in you search then appear in the music table and you can hit enter on
any of them and hear them. I'm also thinking that what you see in the browser
can be controled in view as it could before but haven't gotten to that yet
either.

Ghost texter

2012-12-03 Thread Regina Alvarado
Let me see if I can make this short! I have a ghost texter. I get the
messages from goblety-gook day and night, sometimes 3 in an hour. It starts
with 906 and then the date and then brew and the rest is like Chinese.
He/she/it is driving me nuts. Talked to Sprint 3 times on Sunday, finally
to a technician. They blocked short numbers, but final outcome was go to a
Sprint store and see if it can be blocked. I have also tried texting and
telling the thing to knock it off.

Today I went to the Sprint store. Upshot of this encounter was that the
person I talked to also was getting the same message on her iPhone. She
said the only thing she could suggest is to wipe the phone.

Question: Would wiping the phone help? If so, can someone walk me through
step-by-step, please? I am very nervous about doing this without a
step-by-step. I don't want to lose my apps. I do know I will lose my
settings, (what a pain), but I will only do this if there is a chance it
will work.

Frustrated with my ghost

Hello Mary, I just purchased it now with no issues. I did it from iTunes
on the PC and not my phone. So, not sure if that makes a difference.
I've seen that message you are talking about and it sometimes has meant
that there has been a price change. I see the last time the app was
modified was on 10/31/2012, so it doesn't appear to be a new version.
Maybe you should try it from your computer and see if you are successful.

Thanks.

Re: i tunes

2012-12-03 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

I'm using iTunes on a Mac, and I have a couple of questions.

When I type in the search box, a list of results appears, and there's a button
that is supposed to add them to Up Next, but I seem to have to do a lot of
tabbing around to get whatever I searched for to play; pressing things like
Space or Enter don't work. Also, there seems to be no way to search and then
see what I searched for in a list similar to the songs list. And the search is
a lot pickier than in iTunes 10; searching for a word from the title and a word
from the artist doesn't work. Does anyone know of a way to get the old search
functionality back?

Also, if I search the store, where the search seems to work as it did in iTunes
10, I can play the preview of an individual track, but if I view an album, so
that all the songs are listed, there seems to be no way to play the preview of
an individual track. Does anyone know a way around this?

Thanks,
Anna

and I have to try later. I hope it is still on sale when I come back to the app

handles streaming and wifi transfers. You can put ogg files on your i-device

that iTunes doesn't also. Right now there's a patent issue so it does not
play aac files. I got the free lite version which has ads but the full
player costs $2.99. I did see some unlabeled buttons but I've already put an
ogg file on my iPhone via the file sharing table and it appeared on my phone
immediately when I tapped My Documents. Unless somebody has a better player
to recommend that also puts the files on the device via file sharing, I'm
going to pay the $2.99 and get this. No need to convert my ogg files to mp3
and no need to sync them in iTunes! I would post the link but I haven't ever

Re: 6.1 ios and bluetooth keyboard

2012-12-03 Thread Timothy Emmons
Hey, not sure if anybody has gotten to you on this yet, but you can use the
rotor commands on the keyboard, by hitting up arrow and either left or right
arrow respectiviely to move the rotar through the different setings. You want
to do this until you hear voiceover speak Characters. Then you can go down
arrow letter by letter through a message. If you don't have your web rotar set
up in voiceover go into general, accessibility, voiceover, web rotar, and
select the diffeent settings you want announced, and one of these is character.
Once you make sure that will show up come out of it, hit your up arrow, with
either left or right arrow and you should be fine. Hope this helps. Take care
and talk to you soon.

6.1 ios and bluetooth keyboard

2012-12-03 Thread judyw
BlankI just upgraded my phone from os 5 to 6.1.

I have the Apple bluetooth board that is full sized light metal with a sort of
round bar which holds the batteries. In 5 I could use the down arrow key and go
through a text message letter by letter. Since the upgrade, I just get a
message saying no heading found. Does someone know some of the basic review
commands for text messages?

Also, where can I find a command summary for voiceOver and bluetooth
keyboards?? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Fanus,

You probably find it useful to show the side bar as this
makes iTunes 11
look a bit more familiar. Just do a "Alt+V to go to the View
menu and find
where it says "Show Side Bar". I think the hotkey is
Control+S. Now you have
the iTunes 10 look wehere you have your music library,
movies, books, apps
etc. I also found it more to my liking to check "Songs" for
music instead of
"Artists" or "Albums" because as soon as you check Songs you
can then enable
the column browser and select your music by genre, artist
and album same as
in iTunes 10.

Sieghard

RE: i tunes

2012-12-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Keith,

Control+S will show the side bar and it will stay unless you hide it again.

I also always liked the column browser. In iTunes 10 you had a complete list
of all your songs and with column browser enabled you then had drop-down
boxes for stuff like genre, artist, album etc. I only had those three
selected.

In iTunes 11 you can also have this, you have to tab to "Songs" and check
it, if you check album or artist the column browser which is also in the
"View" menu is greyed out/. If songs is selected you can show the column
browser and just as in i?Tunes 10 go to "View" and "Column Browser" which is
a sub menu and you can open it up with the right arrow and then select which
items you want in the column browser.

iTunes 11 looks very much like iTunes 10 that way, things maybe in slightly
different places, but it's all there.

Regards,
Sieghard

I found a player that plays ogg files on i-devices and I believe also
handles streaming and wifi transfers. You can put ogg files on your
i-device by using the file sharing table in apps in iTunes so the ogg
files do not have to be in your iTunes library. I believe it plays
some other formats that iTunes doesn't also. Right now there's a
patent issue so it does not play aac files. I got the free lite
version which has ads but the full player costs $2.99. I did see some
unlabeled buttons but I've already put an ogg file on my iPhone via
the file sharing table and it appeared on my phone immediately when I
tapped My Documents. Unless somebody has a better player to recommend
that also puts the files on the device via file sharing, I'm going to
pay the $2.99 and get this. No need to convert my ogg files to mp3 and
no need to sync them in iTunes! I would post the link but I haven't
ever figured out how to get the link; maybe somebody could enlighten
me in my appalling ignorance!

RE: where is my apps list in itunes 11

2012-12-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Keith,

F6 moves you to different sections in iTunes, for example, I don't think
there is any other way to get from the iTunes Store area back to the source
list because if you use tab you just move around inside the iTunes store
pages.

F6 also is an important key if you ever use F1 (Help) in some applications.
Often you have a list of topics on the left and after you press enter on a
topic to select it you have to use F6 to jump into the right Window where
the information is presented.

RE: i tunes

2012-12-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello Reese,

I use Windows 7 with Jaws 14 and also upgraded to iTunes 11. This should be
universal, but for me F6 does work as before to get me from the iTunes Store
section back to the Source List. If you haven't done so I recommend you
enable the source list by pressing Control+S or go to the View menu and
select "Show Side Bar".

As for scripts I don't think there are any yet. I just had a quick look at
John Martin's BlindTunes website at www.BlindTunes.net. He currently just
says you need iTunes version 10.4 or higher, but since iTunes 11 has such a
different UI 10.4 or higher may not include 11. I sent an email to him and
suggested he adds something to his website which specifically talks about
iTunes 11, if I get a reply I'll post it on the list.

Regards,
Sieghard

Try this.

Control S to open up the Side Bar; there is no message to indicate that
this is opened or closed..
Press f6 until you hear the word "sources. "You have a list there of
"music," "moves," "TV shows," "apps," etc. I have created play lists of my
music and those appear there as well.

Arrow down to "Apps".
After highlighting APPS, press F6 again and you should either be in the
list right there or tab once or twice to find it. Ii am not at home right
now so can't test it.

If you want to see if that side bar is on or off before starting this
process, press f6 several times. If you hear "sources" it's open; if you
don't, it's closed.

Remember that, in iTunes f6 is always, always, always your friend.

is dictation not working? Thank you, I know where the dictation button is.
Why is there no Siri menu, if Siri does indeed exist on the iPad 3 in iOS
6.1? What do I need to switch on, off, update, ETC in order to get it all to
work properly?
Thank you

Hi Thomas,

I am not aware of any anti virus apps for the iPhone, but then again you
really don't need them since to my knowledge viruses don't exist. Yes, there
has been the odd app that slipped by Apple's control and which maybe
accessed information on your phone which it shouldn't, but due to the
sandbox approach where the ability of apps to interact is very strictly
regulated security is pretty good.

Just out of curiocity, why do you feel an anti virus app is needed?

Re: difficulty with a calendar subscription

2012-12-03 Thread Christina C.

Re: Deleting a Note in Evernote

2012-12-03 Thread Emilio

Thanks.

Re: Question About Contacts

2012-12-03 Thread Bill Gallik
You can do this quite conveniently by saving your list of PC contacts off to a
non-functional folder, deleting all contacts you don’t want on your phone from
the active contact list on your PC and then syncing.

The trick is to make certain the folder or file that holds your PC contacts has
a recent time stamp so any changes on the PC will be treated as the correct
data. This way, any entries on the iPhone that are in the “new” contact
location on your PC get deleted. At least that’s what I did with my Windows
Mail (Outlook Express) contact list and it worked flawlessly.

RE: where is my apps list in itunes 11

2012-12-03 Thread Sandy Finley

RE: Question About Contacts

2012-12-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Keith,

Once you turn off this feature to add people you reply to to your contacts,
you have to delete those you don't want somewhere, either on the computer or
on the phone. It's probably easier and faster to do so in Outlook and once
you go through your list and delete all those you want they should also
disappear on your iPhone because if you setup an Exchange account whatever
changes you make on the PC should sync to your iPhone. If not just delete
the account off your iPhone and then set it up again, once again, if it's
exchange it will just resync with the server.

where it says "Show Side Bar". I think the hotkey is Control+S. Now you have
the iTunes 10 look wehere you have your music library, movies, books, apps
etc. I also found it more to my liking to check "Songs" for music instead of
"Artists" or "Albums" because as soon as you check Songs you can then enable
the column browser and select your music by genre, artist and album same as
in iTunes 10.

RE: Connect to WiFi on iPhone

2012-12-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Philip,

If you get the details screen about your network you double tap the wrong
button. Each network listed is listed by name on the left and to the right
is a "More Info" button. You have to double tap on the network name, for
example, if your WiFi network is called "Philip's House", double tap on
"Philip's House" and not on the button Voiceover reads as "More Info,
Philip's House button".

Hi group,

I am trying to connect to WiFi on my iPhone. I use VoiceOver. However, after
turning on WiFi and when I try to tap / double tap on a network shown on the
list of nearby hotspots, nothing happens. There's no text field prompting me
for my network password (I have a secured network).
The only page I get is the Info page with details about IP address.
Please help! How do you get on WiFi on your iPhone with VoiceOver?

Thanks a lot.

Question About Contacts

2012-12-03 Thread kb5752
Hello, all. I posted this a few days ago but didn’t get an answer, so here goes
again.

I have nearly 1,000 contacts on my phone, primarily because I have an Exchange
account with MS Outlook and have Outlook set to put people I reply to in my
Contacts. I plan to change this.

However, I can’t figure out a way to get rid of all of the Outlook contacts
from my phone, unless I go in and delete one at a time. Does anyone have a
better idea? I know that I need to get rid of at least 800 contacts.

RE: antivirus

2012-12-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Thomas,

I have had both my Mastercard and Visa replaced, the Mastercard before
anything happened and because Mastercard suspected it may have been part of
a batch of cards that had been compromised and my Visa after an auction
house from England charged almost $10,000 to my card and all of that while I
was on holidays in the Philippines.

Why would your credit card being compromised have anything to do with a
virus on your phone? It is much more likely somebody swiped your number
somewhere else.

Hi.

My wife has an ipad 2 and I own an ipad Mini. the iPad Mini's
performance is actually a bit better than the ipad 2 in my opinion. the
volume of the speakers on the Mini might be just a tad lower than the
iPad 2 but not by much if at all. I actually have not compare them side

volume on the Mini is honestly plenty for whatever you might want to

Re: iTunes 11 is out

2012-12-03 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I would doubt very much that Apple has anyone following this list and
reporting back. If someone wants to make sure this gets fed back to
Apple, I'd suggest using the accessibility email address for Apple.

Note that in my comments below, I never talked about Apple's commitment
to accessibility but rather just how committed they are to making one of
their products accessible on a competitors platform. I believe Apple is
committed to accessibility, but I'm not sure that vision extends to
Windows. I also don't think 1300 people, or even everyone those 1300
people might influence, is even a blip on Apple's bottom line. I doubt
very much Apple's commitment to accessibility is driven by how much
they're going to make by selling Apple products specifically to blind
people. Also, how many of those 1300 people on this list are using
Windows? It may be a majority, but as we can see from following this
list, there are quite a few Mac users, and that number is probably growing.

This is all just my opinion. I don't have a problem with people
disagreeing with me. Only time will tell which of us is correct, so I
vote for just waiting to find out!

For IOs I think that is no necesary anti virus, because of the Apps comes
from the apple, and they have tested all this apps before make a big
mistake, even though at the last months apple has done a lot of mistakes.
Even though, in teory we don't need a anti virus.

Hi All

I'm thinking of getting an iPad mini and I'd like to know, can the external
speaker produce as louder audio as the iPad 2? Also is the overall
performance as good?

Thanks

RE: problems with the delete key

2012-12-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Alex,

I'd love to help, but "it doesn't work for me either" is just not very
helpful as to what exactly doesn't work. If you are using touch typing,
touching and releasing the delete key will delete the character you are on
just as touching and releasing the shift key will type the next character
you touch in upper case. When this behavior was first changed when iOS 6
came out there was a bit of discussion about it since some people preferred
the old behavior where you had to double or split tap the delete key, but I
have not read anything since that people are having difficulties with it and
the way the delete key behaves now really is the better way and the way it
should behave.

The only exception is on the keypad in the phone app, if you are dialing a
phone number and want to delete a number you still have to double tap the
delete key, I guess Apple overlooked this since to me it makes little sense
as to why the delete key here shouldn't work the same way as the one on the
keyboard.

Anyhow, if you can describe in more detail what is not working for you I'd
be happy to try and help.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi,

I don't agree that Apple is about to decrease their accessibility in
ITunes

for Windows. That would be ridiculous. There may be 1300 of us on this
list but there are a lot more visually impaired people in the world and
they

have just begun to tap into our market. The longer they keep ITunes for
Windows accessible, the more of us will have a chance to decide to go over
to their side. They have already proven that. They know there is a
market

out there and they are going to continue to go after it.

How many non visually impaired people in our families have gone over to
Apple since we told them what Apple has been doing for us, and that will
continue. Steve Jobbs had a vision and they know it and, if we are smart,
we
will continue to let them smell our money. After all, it's the same
colour
as non visually impaired people's money. No matter the colour, money

While I agree in thinking people will begin to base more and more of their
laptop/desktop purchases to compliment their smart phone needs*, I think
it's a bit premature to say that apple won't continue to take
accessibility

into consideration for iTunes on the PC.

With a few tweaks, the new version of iTunes works just as well, almost
exactly as well in fact, as the previous versions of the software did on
Windows. It's easy to bring back the side and menu bars and the only thing
broken is the labelling of the File, View, Control, etc... menu titles --
the menus themselves still work. Once you learn the new layout and make
the
necessary tweaks, the program is hardly inaccessible -- this small thing
is

not a dealbreaker and using it as proof that apple will abandon PC
accessibility is a bit ridiculous, imo.

Now if you had used the iCloud manager and website as an example when they
were released, that'd be another story. :P

* I am actually switching to a mac mini because I am strongly
contemplating

the purchase of an iPad mini and will be upgrading to the next iPhone when
my contract is up in August.

tablet first and then if they want to add a lapttop or a desktop to
the mix, they'll base their decision in part on what will work best
with their smart phone / tablet they've chosen to use.

I'm also not as convinced Apple will continue to care about iTunes
accessibility on the PC. Again, this is just my conjecture, but I don't'
think this is a priority for Apple now. I would be surprised if they
didn't focus first on iTunes accessibility with VoiceOver on the Mac.
As the Mac becomes more and more popular, I think Apple will continue
to lower the priority of iTunes on Windows in general and on it's
accessibility under Windows in particular. Also, with more and more
functionality showing up in the Cloud, there's less and less need to
use iTunes under Windows. The lack of iTunes accessibility under
Windows won't be a reason for people to not get an iPhone, and Apple's
answer to the people who want or need to use iTunes may just be, OK,
great, go ahead and get a Mac.

I do see companies like GW Micro and Freedom Scientific doing
everything they can do to keep iTunes accessible under Windows I don't
see MS doing much though since they compete with Apple across the board.
