Re: transfering from one app to another

2014-04-28 Thread Lori Dent
Hi Sandra,

I am using the create a document when I'm scanning different things. Right, now
I've scanned some constitutions and bylaws that I will need
to look at for my Society of the Blind group I'm in which I'm President
of.When I scanned these constitution and bylaws, there were eight pages to
scan. So I have eight different documents with one page of constitution and
bylaws on it.

My question is since I have eight pages of constitution and bylaws , how can I
get all eight pages into one created document stead of having eight seperat
documents? So how do I add pages to a document I created when I have more than
one page to scan?

I do see my documents onthe main screen after I have created them.

Now, I will want to scan my forms and put them into text , but how do I
maintain the image so I don't lose the formatting ? I've never done this part.

Right now I don't have Prizmo linked to I cloud and Ido want to store my
documents. So one more question for you how do I link my phone and Prizmo up
with icloud?

Oh before Iforget, when I take a picture with the quick capture mode, I've
tried over and over again to get the results of my document to read and I can't
get it to read. So what am I doing wrong. I thought it was a two finger double
swipe up and then it would read. So can you help me here. How can I get the
results of my document to read after I have used the quick capture mode? Thanks.

Oh well, I deleted several apps and got rid of a lot of pictures. Had to do
this before I could download the IOS update. One big chunk of memory was used

Hi Danney,

Could you be a bit more specific as to what it is that is filling up your phone?

iCloud is not really a place where you can park/dump content, it’s more of a
place where information is kept in case you have to restore your phone. If, for
example, your phone is full of apps then the only way to free up space is by
deleting those you don’t use or use a lot.

If your phone is full of music then you could subscribe to iTunes Match for $25
a year (if you are in the United States) and this would help significantly
since all your music on the phone is matched with what iTunes has and then this
music is available to you to play/stream or download as needed. If your library
contains music that is not in iTunes, for example, some local artist/group who
may have released a CD which is not generally available, then this will be
uploaded to your iCloud account so it is available to you as well.

If your phone is full of pictures, then once again the only way to make room is
to copy the pictures from your phone to your computer. As I said, if you
provide more information as to what kind of content you have on your phone you
probably receive better recommendations as to how you can deal with it. If you
are not too sure what is taking up all the space, go to Settings, General and
About. Here you can see exactly how much space is taken up by apps, music,
pictures etc.

Regards,

Sieghard

I know that at least three or four different apps for tracking packages have
been mentioned here. I have been using the Shiprack app which I've found to
be accessible, free, and easy to use since you simply forward the shipped
package email from the vendor to get the package to be tracked into the
Shiprack system.

The last couple of items I've ordered from Amazon have been shipped using an
outfit called LASERSHIP which is at the following website:

I've noticed that the Amazon packages shipped using LASERSHIP can't be
tracked using Shiprack and I'm wondering if anyone using one of the other
package tracking apps has successfully tracked a package delivered by
LASERSHIP with it. If so, could you share the name of the app and your
opinion of it? I don't mind paying a couple of bucks for a package tracking
app provided it's accessible and supports the carriers delivering my
packages.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
The sounds option is for turning on and off the VoiceOver sounds (navigational
clicks and other audio cues VoiceOver uses to help you navigate around your
device.)
It's the same option that is in Settings/General/Accessibility/VoiceOver/Use
Sound Effects option.
Hope this helps,

There are a couple of options under the rotor settings that I do not understand

RE: Accessible App to Track LASERSHIP Packages from Amazon?

2014-04-28 Thread Ron Pelletier
Hi Alan,

Have you tried "Parcel" it shure has a lot of companies and it also has a
button for "other courriers" where you can request that they add a certain
shipper. It only gives the shippers corresponding to the type of number you
insert so, I tried to check for you if lasership was in there but, not
knowing the type of number lasership uses, I can't get it to show

Re: fleksy and tweetings

2014-04-28 Thread Trea Abma
You can add fleksy keyboard to tweetings and use it with voiceover. You can
type words and make fleksy learn and forget words you typed.
You need to have fleksy instaled. The fleksy app is used for this, not fleksyvo.

Perhaps the functions are limited at the moment for vo users; I didn’t manage
to type numbers and couldn’t edit my tweet: I only could delete words or start
all over again. I like it very much, because fleksy supports much more
languages than fleksy vo.

Sorry, Robert, I forgot one last thing.

Once you done the renaming, you can once again double check if everything
worked. Just type this:

Dir *.m4a
If you use the Jaws cursor to check above the command prompt you should now
find 0 files since you renamed them to M4R.
If you type dir *.m4r you should get the listing of your 8,000 or whatever
files.

OK, and lastly and importantly, to close the Command prompt window, type
"exit" followed by Enter, you can't close it with Alt+F4 or Control+F4.

Thanks for the comments. I think my problem is I get a bit impatient with
forwarding the package shipment email to Shiprack before the electronic
shipping information has been fully digested. It turns out that this package is
actually being delivered by the US Postal Service even though my Amazon orders
page identifies LaserShip as the carrier. These dual shipping arrangements
where the USPS partners with another carrier have always given me somewhat of
an issue when trying to track them and I suspect this is what is occurring with
Shiprack.

I'm curious about the Parcel app for anyone who might use it. Does it allow the
forwarding of the shipped email in order to get the tracking info into their
system? This is one of the main things I like about Shiprack but I didn't see
mention of this feature on the Parcel iTunes page.

Thanks for bringing it back to memory. Its been over 20 years since I last

start?

Subject: RE: extention converter

Hi Robert,

That's an easy one and you don't even need any software since this
functionality is built into Windows. Ari was closest whenb he said there was
a way to do this using the Run command. This actually goes back to the old
DOS days and using the command line interface which you can still do in
Windows by typing Windows Key+R to bring up the Run command, then type "Cmd"
for "command" and press enter.
I am surprised nobody who like me has been a long-time computer user and who
started with DOS has remembered this.

OK, after you press enter after typing CMD you now get a DOS prompt window.
This is just another Window and you can still use Alt+Tab to switch to other
Windows or programs you currently have open.
If you use Jaws and do a Say Line you most likely hear something like this:
C:\users\user name> where user name would be your name.

Anyhow, the main thing here is that first you want to use the DOS command
for "change directory" and go to the directory where your ringtones are
located. I am using the DOS terminology here where a Folder was called a
Directory.
The command is "cd" of course without the quotation marks, it stands for
change directory. The syntax is cd which you can follow with a space or not,
then type the complete path of your folder. For example, if your Windows
user name is Robert and you have iTunes installed in the music folder and
your folder where your ringtones are is called "Tones", then the line would
look like this:

Cd \users\robert\music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Tones
If you start at the root level, i.e. c:, you don't have to start with c:,
you can start simply with \

Type the path and press enter and the prompt will now say this:
C:\users\robert\music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Tones>

OK, now you can check your folder for the files that are in it, just a
double check sort of thing. Type "dir" which stands for "directory" followed
by a space, then type a "*" (asterisk) followed by a "." (period) and the
extension "m4a" which you say is the current extension of your 8,000 files.
There are no spaces except for the space between the "dir" and the "*". The
"*" is a wild card for any file name in front of the period.
it would look like this:

Dir *.m4a - this will give you a listing of all file names with the
extension of M4A.

Wait a moment as all the files are now being listed. Do a say line after
maybe 3 or 4 seconds, if you are back at the c prompt, you can route the
Jaws cursor to the PC cursor and then arrow up. You will hear this:
0 Dir(s) 62,432,980,992 bytes free
19 File(s) 6,316,528 bytes

The above is what I get when I do a directory listing of my Tones folder. It
first tells me that there are 0 Dir(s) which means there are no subfolders,
this is followed by the free space of my C drive.
Then if I uparrow another line I hear that I have 19 files and it tells me
the total size of all of them. If I uparrow again I will be on the last file
of the entire file listing.
In your case you should have 8,000 or whatever exact number of files.

OK, now you have to just type one more line to rename all the M4A extensions
to M4R. The command is "ren" which as you probably guessed stands for
"rename", you follow this by a space.
You once again use the "*" (asterisk) as a wild card to include all files
with the M4A extension, your command line is this:

Ren *.M4A *.M4R
Make sure you have only 2 spaces in this, one between the command "ren" and
what you want to rename which is all the files with extension M4A and which
you indicate by "*.M4A" and the second space between the *.M4A and the *.M4R
which is the extension you want to rename all the files to. Of course you
press enter after you type the line to execute the command.

That's it, all your files will now have whatever file name they had before,
but they now have a M4R extension and are ready to be imported into your
Tones library. I know this sounds way more complicated than it is, if I sat
down at your keyboard knowing which folder the files are in I could do this
in 10 seconds flat. If your files are in a subfolder way down in your folder
structure you could simply use Windows Explorer and either move the entire
folder into your root directory, c:, or make a new temporary folder in c: or
even c:\users\robert just so you don't have to change to a folder which has
such a long path.

If you feel uncomfortable with this or are unsure, just send me an email to
siegh...@live.ca and I can call you on the regular phone or we can use
Facetime Audio and I can walk you through this step by step, if I can hear
your screenreader it would be super easy. You can iMessage or Facetime Audio

Re: ibooks ios with braille display?

2014-04-28 Thread Wayne Merritt
You can also read to the page chooser and then use dot 6 with space to
adjust the value to the next page, then do a space with dots 1-2-3 to
go to the top. The down side of this is you have to move past the 5
buttons at the top of the screen to get to the text on the page. It
gets easier the morr you do it though and I often do this without
thinking about it.

RE: How to Access I Cloud for Storage

2014-04-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Danney,

Could you be a bit more specific as to what it is that is filling up your
phone?

iCloud is not really a place where you can park/dump content, it's more of a
place where information is kept in case you have to restore your phone. If,
for example, your phone is full of apps then the only way to free up space
is by deleting those you don't use or use a lot.

If your phone is full of music then you could subscribe to iTunes Match for
$25 a year (if you are in the United States) and this would help
significantly since all your music on the phone is matched with what iTunes
has and then this music is available to you to play/stream or download as
needed. If your library contains music that is not in iTunes, for example,
some local artist/group who may have released a CD which is not generally
available, then this will be uploaded to your iCloud account so it is
available to you as well.

If your phone is full of pictures, then once again the only way to make room
is to copy the pictures from your phone to your computer. As I said, if you
provide more information as to what kind of content you have on your phone
you probably receive better recommendations as to how you can deal with it.
If you are not too sure what is taking up all the space, go to Settings,
General and About. Here you can see exactly how much space is taken up by
apps, music, pictures etc.

Regards,

Sieghard

The Parcel app does, and, I thought the last time I used lasership with
Amazon that shiprack did track it too. Lasership tracks crappier than most,
but it's not the fault of the app but the shipping company. Hope this

2014-04-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi again, Alan,

OK, should have done this before since I did it for the other 3 apps I
mentioned. I just looked up the app description for Shiprack again and I
found the following in their listing of supported carriers:

Regional and specialized ones: A1 International, Ensenda, LaserShip, OnTrac,
Prestige, and Purolator.

According to this you should be able to track Lasership deliveries just
fine.

RE: Accessible App to Track LASERSHIP Packages from Amazon?

2014-04-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Alan,

Most of the shipping apps will track Lasership, I am surprised Shiprack
doesn’t. Parcel, Posted and Delivery Status Touch definitely will according
to the app descriptions and all 3 of these are fully accessible.

Lasership also has its own app which I found by doing a Google search for
“tracking lasership packages” yielded the following result, among others:

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lasership-mobile-app-delivers-fast-t
racking-and-even-faster-shipping-201438581.html

The Lasership app app is free and while I can’t speak for its accessibility
you could just try it.

You can also use the Parcel app which is accessible, but if you want Push
notifications it costs $1.99 per year. Below the link and the app
description:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/parcel-delivery-tracking/id375589283?mt=8

Description:

If you are looking for the app to track shipments on iPhone or iPad - Parcel
app is the best choice for you.
With this application you can promptly access tracking information for 200
delivery services, including Canada Post, OnTrac, Purolator, LaserShip,
Greyhound Express, DHL, TNT, UPS, USPS, FedEx and many other postal
services. Full list of supported couriers is available at: http://parcelapp.
net/#services

Tracking data is collected on our server, so you will get it right to your
device with a click of a button. You don't even need to enter the tracking
number, barcode scanning is available on iPhone and iPad. With unique
carrier automatic recognition function, adding new delivery is just a matter
of seconds.

You can also locate your delivery on the map or manage your deliveries using
Web Access (http://web.parcelapp.net) - easy and simple.

Parcel has a native OS X app available for free in the Mac App Store.

Push notifications provided by Parcel are more convenient than from any
other app. They are being sent only from 8am to 10 pm according to your
timezone, so you will not be bothered at night. (however, you can disable
this option in the settings)

If you want to use push notifications or track more than 3 shipments at the
same time - you can subscribe to the premium subscription right in the app
for $1.99 per year.

The Posted app is $1.99 one-time purchase, below the link and description:

https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/posted/id355963410?mt=

Description:

Featured on Apple's "Apps For Shopping" List ★

★ SMART EMS TRACKING (combines origin and destination information)

Posted enables you to track your delivery parcels from many shipping &
courier companies. Once you add in your tracking number, Posted will display
all relevant details about your parcel so you know exactly what is happening
with your latest purchase.

Features:
Currently supports over 180+ delivery providers
★ Push notification when the status of your parcel changes
★ Estimated delivery dates (where supported)
★ Barcode scanning (3GS or newer).

USA
A-1, CEVA, DB Schenker, DHL, DHL GlobalMail, Eastern Connection, Ensenda,
Fedex, Landmark, LaserShip, Newgistics, OnTrac, Postclub, Prestige Delivery,
R+L Carriers, Streamlite, TNT, UPS, UPS Mail Innovations, USPS.

Bonus feature for account sync users:

Introducing the “web interface” to manage your parcels! Available at http:
//www.PostedApp.com/members/login (FREE to use!).

The web interface will be updated with more functionality in the future.

Delivery Status Touch I like because if you have a tracking number copies to
the clipboard and open the app it will immediately recognize this and
usually also the carrier and ask you if you want to set up a new delivery,
all you have to do is enter a name for the delivery if you want and tap
Save. However, for some reason push notifications for this app don’t seem
to work for me, it’s something I have been meaning to contact the developer
about since I like this app the best in the way it displays the information.
It is, however, also the most expensive of the 3 with a price tag of $4.99,
but it’s a one-time purchase just as Posted and unlike Parcel which is
$1.99 a year. On the other side I don’t mind paying that if the service
sticks around, Track This was also a good app and only 99 Cents, but maybe
that is why it’s no longer there. Here the link for Delivery Status Touch
and the description, I also included the link of their website to where they
list all their supported services:

Accessible App to Track LASERSHIP Packages from Amazon?

2014-04-28 Thread Alan Lemly
I know that at least three or four different apps for tracking packages have
been mentioned here. I have been using the Shiprack app which I've found to
be accessible, free, and easy to use since you simply forward the shipped
package email from the vendor to get the package to be tracked into the
Shiprack system.

The last couple of items I've ordered from Amazon have been shipped using an
outfit called LASERSHIP which is at the following website:

http://lasership.com/index.php

I've noticed that the Amazon packages shipped using LASERSHIP can't be
tracked using Shiprack and I'm wondering if anyone using one of the other
package tracking apps has successfully tracked a package delivered by
LASERSHIP with it. If so, could you share the name of the app and your
opinion of it? I don't mind paying a couple of bucks for a package tracking
app provided it's accessible and supports the carriers delivering my
packages.

Thanks in advance.

Alan Lemly

RE: extention converter

2014-04-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Sorry, Robert, I forgot one last thing.

Once you done the renaming, you can once again double check if everything
worked. Just type this:

Dir *.m4a
If you use the Jaws cursor to check above the command prompt you should now
find 0 files since you renamed them to M4R.
If you type dir *.m4r you should get the listing of your 8,000 or whatever
files.

OK, and lastly and importantly, to close the Command prompt window, type
"exit" followed by Enter, you can't close it with Alt+F4 or Control+F4.

Has anyone run across a windows software that will allow me to point to a
folder of m4a files and change the a to r, b or v? I am working on a folder

of mp3 tones that total 8000 files. Converting to m4a isn't a problem. Its

having to manually change each .m4a to .m4r that has me shaking!

If we can't look at ourselves, and ask, why? then where does the learning

RE: extention converter

2014-04-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

You can iMessage or Facetime Audio
to the above address as well. I don't know what time zone you are in, just
keep in mind that I am in Canada and the Pacific Time Zone, you can simply
ask SIRI what time it is in Vancouver which would be the same as the time in
the town where I live.

Sieghard

Thank you, Richard. That is very helpful to know. I will proceed to
contact the developers on both apps to see if changes can be made.

If anyone on the list is decent at programming in IOS, could you
contact me offlist? I'd like to be able to offer some type of specific
solution to see if it works, and I'm not a programmer.

RE: extention converter

2014-04-28 Thread Richard Turner
There are several free audio converter programs out there that will change
one file type to another. In the case of mp3 to m4v I'm not sure since one
is generally audio and the other video. Just google free audio converter or
free video converter and see what you find.

In the case of m4a to m4r they are compatible file types, so you can simply
change the name. The one caution I would mention is that I think m4r can
only be 30 seconds in length since that is for ringtones.
Do the following at your own risk.

In any case, if you use the Windows run dialog and type cmd and hit enter
you will be on the command line, much like the old DOS days.
You need to then change into the folder where your files are with
cd\foldername and if it is a sub folder, then you need to know the entire
path, cd\foldername\foldername, etc.

Once you are in the folder where the m4a files are, you can type
Ren *.m4a *.m4r

And hit enter.

That will change all the m4a files in the folder to m4r with the same name
before the period.
Again, only do that command when you are sure the file types are compatible
or you will have a whole bunch of useless files.

I'd make a backup of the folder first, just to be extra safe.

Richard

Re: Just got the iPhone 5s with AT&T and on the next plane and had a question

2014-04-28 Thread Wayne Merritt
Joseph,
You are certainly entitled to your own opinion. However, consider the
following: My wife just bought a 16 GB iPhone 5C from AT&T and signed
up for the Next plan. Like you, she was told that she could pay a
little each month for 18 months, and would own the phone by the end
of that time when she could choose to trade it in for a newer model.
We did the math when we got home and found that though she paid $21 a
month for 18 months for a $99 phone, over that 18 month period she was
actually paying AT&T around $380 for a phone who's contract price was
$99. With the Next and similar plans, you are not paying the full off
contract price, but you are giving much more money to the carriers
than you would on a contract. We went back to the AT&T store this past
weekend and moved my wife from the Next plan back to a contract, and
then paid the regular $99 price of the 5C. If you have other questions
on the value of the early upgrades plans, do a Google search for "Do I
get a better deal on the Next plan from AT&T," and you will come up
with many articles from CNet, Ars-Technica, and other sites that break
the numbers down like I have. It is true that not everyone has the
money to pay for the phone outright, and if you choose to go the
direction of the Next plan then that's completely up to you. In order
to switch back from the Next plan you need to make the switch within
14 days after buying your phone, otherwise you are stuck.

Kind regards,
Wayne Merritt

Re: transfering stuff between iPhones?

2014-04-28 Thread goshawk on horseback
I could, but want to avoid that if possible, as I can only download my apps one
at a time that way by the looks of things, and if like me one has a lot of
apps, it's a long job. it also won't download my folder structures, that I
mentioned in the original message.

Re: transfering stuff between iPhones?

2014-04-28 Thread Teresa Cochran
If you have your current device backed up with iCloud, this process will be
very easy. Assuming you have it backed up, start your new device. If it doesn't
come up with a welcome screen, you will have to reset it from settings. If it
behaves like a new device, you can restore from an iCloud backup.

I don't know of other ways to transfer apps besides the iCloud method or the
iTunes method.

iPhone 5S issues?

2014-04-28 Thread goshawk on horseback
hello all,
I have been offered a very good deal on an upgrade from my iPhone 4S to a 5S,
which I am tempted to take.
I seem to remember that the 5S had some issues with voiceOver and volume or
something, unfortunately, I didn't take too much notice, as I wasn't quite
thinking of upgrading at the time.
are there still issues, or have they been sorted out in one of the recent IOS
upgrades?

transfering stuff between iPhones?

2014-04-28 Thread goshawk on horseback
hello all,
sorry for asking, as this has probably been covered at some time, but I have
been offered a good deal on an iPhone 5S upgrade, and am tempted to take it.
what I would like to know however, is how easy is it to transfer contacts, apps
music, videos, tones etc. from one iPhone to another? I'm currently using a 4s.
I will not be using iTunes, as I have never been able to get that to work
properly for me, so am looking for ways that do not use iTunes only please. my
main concern is my apps, as I have a lot of them, and have them in various
folders, so is there a way of transferring that setting across, so that my
folder structure also goes on to the new iPhone, rather than just the apps
alone, which means that I have to then sort them all out again? as with all of
the apps I have, that would be a very big job, and one that I would not look
forward to.

Well Seacord I do not believe that is a rip off I believe that these kind of
plans are for people that cannot afford to buy a iPhone out right but they can
afford more bang for their buck. Just thought however it is okay everybody has
their own opinion about them being a rip off.

I would first like to say th What I'm gonna say here may not be likable to
most.

I appologise but I have been watching this go on and I just wanted to throw
my two sents for what it's worth in the ring.

First, I'll say this.

I'd like to take part in our tensing sir.

How may I go about doing so.

It sounds like a fantabulous app. I never liked Braille because you had to
use 2 hands to write it and I never can get the hang of either mBraille or
Braille touch. I'm looking for a cool program to try out. And I'm willing to
give anybody a chance.

So let's bring on the testing, just let me know how I can help you and I'm
more than happy to do so.

Second I'd like to say this.

I personally believe that we're lucky to have such developers like this
fella, that wants to help us be more eficiant in what we do every day.

And as was already pointed out, it's a good idea to keep in mind that,
people aren't gonna wanna help us out if we're not giving them a chance to
do so. Don't bite the hand that feeds you or it will end up screwing us over
in the end! Ity's a good rule of thumb to be nice to the development
community because if not they have the right to, and maybe will stop
incorporating VoiceOv er in their products. You know they don't have to make
any apps for us, they could tell us to go to hell, after the way we treat
those who try to.

I would if I was a developer seeing what I just saw with this thread!

You don't' really know if these bunch of students have that much experience
or not, but they're trying.

Also You don't know if the app is gonna me screwy unless you use it right?

Well this developer is doing just that, They wanna make sure we can use it
and want our feedback before proceding to release it as is to the apple
store with out the Blind's input.

Alright I'm gonna sit my wise dariar down and settle back into my corner.

Later folks and have a good day.

I hope I didn't offend too many people and if I did, well I'm sorry, but
something had to be said in regard to this, we don't wanna scare too many
people off in developing apps for us or we'll not have anymore developers if
that keeps up!

RE: three apps questions, Schwan's and VizWiz and Contacts

2014-04-28 Thread Vicky Collins

Hi Sieghard and All,

Thanks so much for answering all my questions.

For the record, I did try all the suggestions you gave with the
Schwan's app before doing the iCloud restore. But, I guess I was
just too lazy to go to the computer and sync with iTunes, even
though that would have been quicker in the end, especially since
I had to go there after all to figure out just which app couldn't
be restored, as I couldn't stand the suspense of not knowing.

then to power off the phone, wait 30 or so seconds and then turn
it on
again. If that doesn't help it's probably not a bad idea to
delete the app
and to redownload it in order to make sure nothing went wrong
with the
update. If the app still has accessibility issues or just
doesn't seem to
run, then it's pretty safe to say that indeed the update has
broken
something and it's time to restore a previous version and to
maybe contact

the developer.

As for restoring a previous version, if you sync your apps with
iTunes it is
not necessary to to a complete restore from iCloud. All you have
to do is
make sure you don't update the app in iTunes so that you have the
last
version there which you know works, then delete the app from the
phone and

then resync it from iTunes.

As for Vizwiz, yes, it is gone at least from the Canadian app
store. I
searched for "Vizwiz on iTunes" with Google and found the app
store link no
problem. When I clicked on it Internet Explorer asked me if I
would allow it
to open a program on my computer by which it meant iTunes. I
allowed it and
when iTunes opened I got a message that VizWiz was no longer
available in
the Canadian app store. I only had the option to click OK,
sometimes I have
seen messages that a particular app was not available from the
Canadian app
store, but was available from a different app store, but not this
time.

Well, I guess at this point that is no great loss since everytime
I tried
Vizwiz in the last few months it took forever for an answer to
come back,
often 3 to 4 hours and sometimes not until the next day. Because
of this I
hadn't used it in a long time and didn't even have it on my phone
any more.
Let's hope Tap Tap See will be able to include the ability to ask
a question
along with the picture in some future update, but even without
this I find
that Camfind, Talking Goggles and Tap Tap See often give me what
I want. If
not my "Ask Mom" app works awesomely *smile*. OK, before a dozen
people ask
where they can find the "Ask Mom" app it doesn't exist. It is
just my way of
saying that calling my Mom (or another friend or relative for
that matter)
with Facetime and asking them to take a look at whatever it is I
am trying

to identify or do is often the best way to get a great answer.

As for your third question about Contacts, yes, that is the
default. I
personally find I rarely use the actual Contact app because I can
just as
easily get to my contacts by going into the Phone or Facetime app
and
tapping on the Contacts tab. I have Contacts in a folder I
called Utilities
on my second home page and if I really want it, I just turn the
rotor to
handwriting and write a "C" and "O" on the screen, I then get
"Compass" as
the first result and a quick 2-finger swipe down puts me on
Contacts.

Best regards,
Sieghard

First, has anyone tried to update the Schwan's Frozen Food app
from version 1.0.5 to 1.0.6? When I did so earlier today and then
launched the app, it would just sit there and do nothing. Or,
having no sighted folks around, that is how it appeared to me.
And, no matter what I tried, even with turning VoiceOver off and
trying to tap the screen, I couldn't get the app to do a thing.

Second, when I then did the restore from iCloud, I was quite
pleased to find that the version 1.0.5 of the Schwan's app did
indeed get restored and did work, at least as well as the app did
before, anyway. But, I was told that some things couldn't be
restored from my iCloud backup. And, I finally figured out that
the missing app was VizWiz. Then, upon further checking, I
couldn't seem to find VizWiz in the app store, either.
Fortunately, I never actually used the app, but was wondering if
it still works for others, or is it gone completely?

And, finally, third, what with VizWiz being gone, at least on my
iPhone 4s, I had a blank space at the end of my second page of
apps, something I would prefer to have at the end of my last
page. So, I s

Just do a search for it on Google. I don't know if I have the most

I think that there is a way to do this using the run command, but I'm not quite

Re: transfering from one app to another

2014-04-28 Thread Sandratomkins
Hi Lori,
If you choose the "creating new document" functionality in Prizmo, rather than
the "quick capture" mode, you can keep adding new pages to your document. Then,
when you are done, you will find on the Prizmo main screen your new document
and when you going to it you will see the different pages. However, because you
are speaking of forms, please be aware that once you have processed your scans,
i.e., OCR, then, all the formatting will be gone and you will only have the
text. This means that you will not be able to reuse these forms as forms. So,
you may choose to have the form scanned so that you can read them, but, also,
you may choose to take an image of the forms which will maintain all the
formatting and can be reused.

As for where you will want to keep these forms that will depend upon how secure
you feel your phone is. Prizmo can store these forms perfectly well for you
and, if you have Prizmo linked to iCloud, your forms should be stored safely
there too!

Hope this helps,
Sandy

Hi Grace,

That happens from time to time and there really isn't much you can do except
try later. I guess you could try to turn your phone off completely and back
on and see if that helps as sometimes it does. I must say that since iOS 7
came out last fall I only had SIRI tell me this only 2 or 3 times and most
of the time if I try a second time just a few seconds later it's fine. But I
do have a feeling SIRI may work just fine for me and not for you as it
depends on which servers handle your request.

Today every time I try to use siri to make a call, siri says: I'm very
sorry, but I can't take your request.
Does anyone know why siri sometimes can't make a call for me? The battery
