RE: Quick nav when away from hardware keyboard

I went in to general accessibility and then in to voice over and braille
settings and turned on show on-screen keyboard. That fixed my issue for
now.

Ah, you're talking about the checkbox that says something like copy to iTunes

says keep iTunes media folder organized.

2017-03-20 Thread Jeremy Gilley
Odd, I went right to the app that you gave.

Theta poker.

It was like the only option as far as apps goes. it said 3.99.

It also offers to work with apple TV.

Mind, not everyone is good with poker games. I just happen to be a very long
time player of poker games.

Its a combo of skill and luck.

Also, take your time and look at the cards on the table and whats in your
hand.

Not only the suits, but the cards etc.

There are things you can google that tells you the odds of getting said
combo of cards etc.

Hi list,

I just happened to be looking in the app store and ran across this fully

I have played over twenty five games and have not come close to winning I am
unsure if this had been discussed previously or if any one would be
interested but thought I would throw it out there.

Take care,

RE: Questions about Uber

2017-03-20 Thread R Van Lant
Around here in Boulder, Colorado area, people typically love dogs, so I have
had no issues with Uber or Lyft. My new guide dog is small so she fits on the
floor, but my last dog was large. I took a lightweight sheet that I could
cover the seat next to me with, which drivers seemed to appreciate. I have not
travelled in rain or snow yet, when the dog would presumably be wet.

When I travelled to Los Angeles and needed rides to and from the airport there,
I called the driver once he was assigned to me and let him know, largely
because the driver's names looked Middle Eastern and I was honestly more
concerned about a Muslim driver claiming he couldn't take us. The driver had
no issue, so we were on our way.

Hi Jeremy, I did not see anywhere to purchase it at. Could you send me the

never beat even the easy level. I wonder if I downloaded the right thing.

RE: Two questions for those who are using iPhone 7.

2017-03-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mario,

I don't have an iPhone 7, but magnifier as far as I know has the same
functionality on other phones and for a completely blind user there is as far
as I know no benefit to using magnifier.

As for your delete key issue, do you have a screen protector? Could it be
possible there is a small bubble or imperfection where the delete key is which
causes this behaviour? You may have already tried this, but sometimes even
cleaning the screen can improve how well touch works and while it's an obvious
thing and something everybody should do from time to time it is also easily
forgotten.

Sieghard

Hi

For those who are using the iPhone 7.

1. Does the magnified display screen mode have any kind of benefit to VO?
Or these mode just have diffrence for sight people.

2. Are any of you having issues with the touch virtual keyboard with the delete
key?
The delete key on my iphone 7 does not work normally in most situations.
Most of the times, I have to give several taps to work.
And it is complicated to focus the VO cursor on the delete key.

Some tips?

thanks.

cheers.

Re: Wanting to understand wireless hot-spots better

2017-03-20 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi,

Personal hotspot allows you to share the internet of the phone to other
devices. Your phone becomes like a wifi provider.
There are also devices that connect to cellular networks and create a wifi
network for your devices. With some companies you have to call them to enable
personal hotspot and some have extra charges.

Hope this helps a bit.

RE: problem with muting iPhone

2017-03-20 Thread Tony
Thanks. The problem was partially due to the Bluetooth link to my hearing aids
not being active all the time and random speech when the phone was supposedly
turned off.

I had been without a phone for a few months and forgot some of the details.

What? It uses the speaker for sound regardless of mute setting. It just

Do Not Disturb, was no subject

2017-03-20 Thread Arnold Schmidt
It has been a while since I read about it, maybe it has changed. But I surely
thought it silenced phone calls, too. I thought I remembered that there was a
way to enter numbers that you wanted to get through as a matter of record, and
the provision that if the same number called within a minute, or something like
that, it would also get through. Perhaps things have changed with one of the
recent updates. I rarely use do not disturb.

Hi,

Do not disturb will silence your phone, but you have to tell it not to accept
calls from your favorites list also. You can also tell it to silence it for
everyone.

Hope this helps,

Jenn

Wanting to understand wireless hot-spots better

2017-03-20 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

I have an older gentleman friend, who has an iPhone 5S, I believe.
Technology tends to make him a bit nervous. But he tries hard to
understand things.

He wants to get a wireless hot-spot for his home, because he doesn't
have internet from 1 of the companies that are offered out here.

I want to help him out, and I can usually answer a lot of his questions.
But this is 1 I don't really understand myself.

How does a hot-spot work?

Don't you already have to have internet, in order to be able to use a
wireless hot-spot?

I know that on our phones, there is an option to turn wireless hot-spot
on. But I thought that you could use your phone like this, if you were
in public, and you wanted to connect to the WIFI that was there,
wherever you were.

Is this not the case?

He told me he bought a hot-spot from Walmart a few days ago, but that he
was going to return it. When I asked him why, he said that it didn't
offer good enough range. I don't know enough, or much at all honestly,
on this subject, in order to help him.

His phone is the only thing he has at the moment, for internet. His data
is limited, and this he can't change. But that's a whole other story.

Any help with this, will really be much appreciated! I want to be able
to help my friend out, as much as I can.

Thank you,

Terri

RE: Quick nav when away from hardware keyboard

Yep, tried that. Should have listed that as the first thing I'd tried. No luck,
it basically makes the message field or whatever text field, look like a
read-only field. Even toggling voiceover on and off doesn't work.

Hi. Hopefully I've understood your problem correctly. When you want to use
onscreen keyboard instead of the physical keyboard try doing a single finger
double tap and hold in the edit field and this should then bring up the
on-screen keyboard. Do the same again to hide it.

Sluggish answering calls with Iphone and apple watch

2017-03-20 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

Since I have both an iPhone SE and an apple watch I have intermittent problems
answering calls. Both ring and I answer on the phone but the person on the
other end only starts to hear me after a few seconds, it's like the watch is
interfering with the phone. It does not always happen so it's hard to diagnose.
Do any of you have this issue? If I am trying to find out if it is a problem
with one of my devices and I have to see apple repair service or if it is just
a bug I have to live with.

Thanks for any feedback!

Ioana

RE: VoiceOver in left ear only, sometimes

2017-03-20 Thread Edmonds, Lucy (LARA)
Yes, I have just had it happen once, and as you said, when I turned VoiceOver
off and back on, it cleared it up. Don’t know what that’s all about. I use my
air pods most of the time, so it might happen more frequently if I were to use
corded ear buds.

Subject: VoiceOver in left ear only, sometimes

Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes when I plug in the connecter for my
headphones, VoiceOver only speaks in the left ear, or perhaps more accurately,
the balance shifts way over to the left-hand side, maybe about 10:30 on a clock
dial.

This happened on my iPhone 6+, beginning in around IOS 10.1 or so, as well as I
can remember. I thought it was specific to my device, but since then, I’ve
gotten an iPhone 7, and it does the same thing.

Thankfully, it’s easily remedied. Dumping VoiceOver and restarting it always
puts things right, but I haven’t seen anything about this on the list, and it’s
hard for me to believe I’m the only one having this happen.

Thanks,
Jeffrey Turner

Re: Simple video splicing

2017-03-20 Thread Kathy Brandt
To the first question, yes on both counts: you can set the trim point in
accordance with where the current position is, or you can set the trim point
from the start if you're sure how much you want to trim off of the beginning,
or the end.

You are always asked something like do you want to save the original clip.

Simple video splicing

Thanks for that. I took a look and have a couple of questions. Are you able to
set the trim position to the current play position or do you have to take note
of the current place and then manipulate the trim beginning or end position
manually to the same place? Also when you tap Done do you get the chance to
save the newly edited video as a separate video or will it replace the original
one? I know you implied that you would get the chance to save it separately but
I hesitated on tapping Done just in case it replaced the original.

Thanks, Robin

Re: Quick nav when away from hardware keyboard

2017-03-20 Thread pholdstock
Hi. Hopefully I've understood your problem correctly. When you want to use
onscreen keyboard instead of the physical keyboard try doing a single finger
double tap and hold in the edit field and this should then bring up the
on-screen keyboard. Do the same again to hide it.

Two questions for those who are using iPhone 7.

2017-03-20 Thread Mário Gabriel

Hi

For those who are using the iPhone 7.

1. Does the magnified display screen mode have any kind of benefit to VO?
Or these mode just have diffrence for sight people.

2. Are any of you having issues with the touch virtual keyboard with the
delete key?

The delete key on my iphone 7 does not work normally in most situations.
Most of the times, I have to give several taps to work.
And it is complicated to focus the VO cursor on the delete key.

Some tips?

thanks.

cheers.

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is used primarily for transferring
files to a server.
In my case, it is for uploading updated files to my web site that I have
updated.

Re: Accessible FTP client?

2017-03-20 Thread Richard Turner

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is used primarily for transferring
files to a server.
In my case, it is for uploading updated files to my web site that I have
updated.

Re: Putting music on an iPhone

I can agree with this with one point of information. the user must go into
preferences and make sure that "add files to library" is not checked.

I prefer not having iTunes mess with my files and have a referenced library.
So I also use the add folder or add file options. iTunes knows where the
files are, but doesn't move them or copy them anywhere. Well, with the
exception of files in the wma format, that is. Those get converted by iTunes
in to the m4a format by iTunes and placed in the music folder of iTunes.
Other than that, iTunes leaves my stuff right where it is, and doesn't make
copies of them. If I move something, of course, iTunes no longer knows where
it is, but I can quickly delete those items from the library and readd them.
Then things work fine again.

Thanks,
Ari

The Automatically Add to iTunes folder is OK to use if you are taking new

folder only so iTunes copies them back.
Yes, you can copy and paste, but I find using the Add Folder to Library
makes more sense especially if you want to add all the music for the first
time, you just browse to your main music folder or even the main iTunes
Media folder and select it and everything you have possibly in that folder
from music files to ringtones to books or movies would be added to the
correct library. I have never tried to copy an entire folder or subfolder
and paste it into the music library to see if it will add it, maybe it
will, but using Add Folder to Library is a familiar process as it is just
like opening a file in any application. I think it comes down to what you
personally feel comfortable with, there is no wrong way, just several ways
to accomplish the same thing.

Files can also be copied to the
"Automatically Add to iTunes" folder in the "My Music" folder Depending on
the file type, iTunes will put the files in the appropriate folders.

Hi Kelly,

Depending on how big somebody's iPhone is and how much music they have it
may not be quite as simple as that since somebody may only want some of
their music on the iPhone. Up until recently selecting particular artists
or
albums was not possible, but ti is possible again and you are correct, it
is

not that difficult. The basic steps are this:

1. Conect your phone and open iTunes
2. Activate the button for your device
3. Tab a couple of times until you get to the treeview which starts with
"Summary" and arrow down to Music
