RE: Pairing hearing aids to phone.

2019-06-17 Thread Jeff Clark
Carolyn,

My wife has the Otticon hearing aids and she pairs it through the accessibility
settings. Go to settings, general, accessibility, MFI hearing device. Click on
Otticon1. There should be a button that shows up to pair. You need to do the
left and right aids separately.

Hope this helps.

Carolyn, what I'm getting ready to tell you may not work, in fact, you may

have already tried it already. Hardware and software can be strange and not

work, so here's what I had to do with something a bit more simpler, having

to do with a bluetooth keyboard. But I could not get that thing to pare and

it was setting right in the bluetooth devices. So I turned the bluetooth

keyboard off, and I decided to tell the iphone to forget about the device.

then I turned the bluetooth on the iphone, off and then back on. and then I

turned the bluetooth keyboard back on, and the iphone was ready to pare. It

gave me a code to type in on the bluetooth keyboard, and I typed it in, and

hit enter and I was done. It began working perfectly then. Give that a try,

and if that doesn't work I'll see what I could do to come up with something

else. I hope it works for you.

I would think that a sighted user would want to see what they are

But, it is the end of a Monday, so maybe I'm just being extra cranky, but this

Re: Pairing hearing aids to phone.

2019-06-17 Thread Arlene
Carolyn, turning bluetooth off and back on or restarting the phone might not
work. Even the instructions I gave you, might not work. If you tried them
and they didn't work, then unless I come up with something else before you
go to the audiologist, hopefully they could solve it. If you do try the
instructions, I hope they work.

If you need help with the instructions, let me know.

I have turned Bluetooth off, have turned my phone completely off. So far, no
trick has worked.

We're taking Jim for tests this afternoon, so will know when I can go to
audiologist after that. I think it might take a fix from there. Thanks for
help.

Well, if you already haven’t done so, try powering off your phone. Then
power off the aids. Power the aids back on and start the phone and try the

Hi Carolyn,

What I do when I pair my ages I actually put them on. See if that makes a
difference. I also make sure that before they pay up, I see that the
hearing aids are listed. It should say something like MFI hearing aids
not connected. I know when my aids are paired, I see my name and then
they are paired. But again, try putting them on and see if that makes a
difference.

Hi Carolyn.
Have you tried opening the battery doors and then closing them just before you
pair them under MFi devices? So, before you go into settings on your phone,
turn the aids off and back on. This should put them in discoverable mode. Are
you sure your hearing aids are MFi compatible?

That did not work. I could not get Bluetooth on. It is Bluetooth that is the
glitch here.

2019-06-17 Thread Richard Turner

Larry,
I have had it kick me out a couple of times.
I think it may have a memory management issue.
But, try this:
First, clear everything out of the app switcher.
Then clear the RAM by holding down the power button until you hear power off,
then release the power button, and hold down the home butto until the phone
says something.
Then, power off and back on for good measure.
Now, try the app again.
I get the four corners visible in just a couple of seconds after holding the
phone between 10 and 12 inches above a standard page.
Please use the feedback link in the settings under help and let him know the
issue of it kicking you out.

I have turned off the phone completely, but that has not worked.

Hi Wayne,

That’s a great suggestion. I forgot to mention that to Carolyn. I often have
to do this when I cannot get something paired.

I have turned Bluetooth off, have turned my phone completely off. So far, no
trick has worked.

We're taking Jim for tests this afternoon, so will know when I can go to
audiologist after that. I think it might take a fix from there. Thanks for

Hello James,

How annoying it would be to get Amber alerts from a totally different part of
the world! Check settings / notifications, go to the very bottom of the list.
In the US, we have 2 entries under government alerts. One is Amber alert which
you can toggle on / off. The other is emergency alerts which is everything
else. Since you are getting alerts from the US, maybe these options will show
up for you. Hopefully you don't get weather alerts from the US too!

RE: have a couple of questions about a Bluetooth keyboard that I got to use with my iPhone

2019-06-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You should check which model you bought, it will be listed in your Amazon order
confirmation email. Having said this, it sounds like you may have bought the
K780 which I have previously mentioned. The small USB object you found is a
Logitech unifying receiver which comes with the K780 (not sure about other
models) and it allows you to use the keyboard also with devices which don’t
have Bluetooth such as a desktop PC. You would simply plug the USB receiver in
an available front or rear USB port on the computer and you can then use your
keyboard with that PC, you may have to pair it or you may not, that I can’t
remember since I use my K780 with my laptop as well as my iPhone, but my laptop
also has Bluetooth.
If this is the keyboard you have, you can pair it with up to 3 devices and
switch between them by pressing F1, F2 and F3.
I have mine paired to my laptop on F1 and my iPhone on F2. Since I also
installed the Logitech Options software on my laptop so that the function keys
can be used as traditional function keys without having to press the FN key
(second in from the very left at the bottom, in between the left Control key
and the Windows key), I have to press FN + F2 to switch from my laptop to my
iPhone, but since on the iPhone the function keys act like media keys, F1, F2
and F3 can be pressed without a modifier, i.e. if I want to switch back to my
laptop I simply press F1, the switching takes maybe a second or two and is
completely seamless.
Not sure if you already paired the keyboard to your iPhone, but assuming you
want to use it as the main keyboard on your iPhone, make sure Bluetooth is
turned on in your iPhone in Settings > Bluetooth and just stay in that area.
Now press F1 on the keyboard and hold it for 5 seconds, the Logitech keyboard
should now show up in your list of Bluetooth devices on the phone.
Again, I can’t remember if this happens automatically, but if you don’t get a
request to enter the pairing code, double tap on the listing for the keyboard
on the iPhone and it will display the pairing code, you can swipe back to it if
you don’t get it right away (depending on how fast you have the speech rate set
it may help to reduce it for this).
The pairing code needs to be entered on your keyboard and you can’t be too slow
about it or it will time out in which case you just double tap the keyboard
listing again and a new code will display.
If you have the K780 then it has a full numeric pad on the right and you can
enter the code there which I find much easier and faster than doing it on the
number row.
Once you have successfully paired the keyboard you will have to learn all the
keyboard commands, if you do a search in the web archive for Bluetooth keyboard
commands you probably find lots of posts and I wouldn’t be surprised if
Applevis had a comprehensive listing of available keyboard commands on their
website.

This Google search for Bluetooth keyboard commands for
iOS
gives quite a few results and the below Google search gives search results
specific to articles on Applevis:
Bluetooth keyboard commands
site:Applevis.com

Of course if you go directly to Applevis and search for “Bluetooth keyboard
shortcuts”, you find lots of results in the various categories, when I just did
it shows the following:
80 forum topic results, 70 blog posts, 12 iOS app directory listings, 6 guides,
6 hardware or Accessory Reviews and 3 Podcasts.

Good luck,
Sieghard

There's nothing special about the double A batteries, and there's no reason to
get a fresh pair. Alkaline batteries have a very long shelf life.

For the most part, bluetooth and keyboards are standard, so there shouldn't be
any problem using the same bluetooth keyboard across multiple devices. I've
used the same keyboard on Linux, Windows, Android and IOS. A lot of bluetooth
keyboards designed especially for the iPhone just have the key caps labeled
with the Apple names, such as command and option instead of control and alt.
There may be some high end macros built into the keyboard that will only work
with certain devices, but generally they'll just work.

Re: have a couple of questions about a bluetooth keyboard that I got to use with my Iphone

2019-06-17 Thread Christopher Chaltain
There's nothing special about the double A batteries, and there's no
reason to get a fresh pair. Alkaline batteries have a very long shelf life.

For the most part, bluetooth and keyboards are standard, so there
shouldn't be any problem using the same bluetooth keyboard across
multiple devices. I've used the same keyboard on Linux, Windows, Android
and IOS. A lot of bluetooth keyboards designed especially for the iPhone
just have the key caps labeled with the Apple names, such as command and
option instead of control and alt. There may be some high end macros
built into the keyboard that will only work with certain devices, but
generally they'll just work.

Hello Joshua.
In Amazon, can you contact with the seller? If you can, please ask the
problem that you have, if he can help.

In the item description it will be wrote if the item is in perfect
condition, or if it has any problem. If you find anything that is not
found in the description, better to ask for a refund if you are not
happy, or let it go and carry with the item.

Find the model in the Logitech website, or if it’s very old, in Google
or other sites. When you find the exact model by the pictures, look if
the keyboard is compatible with iPhone, because Android Bluetooth is
not the same of iPhone’s and they are incompatible between them. You
must see that before the buy.

That’s all I can say for now.

Hi to all. I just bought a logitech bluetooth keyboard to use with my
new iPhone. I don't recall the model number, but it was one that I
had heard mentioned on this list. I don't know if I'll have to send
it back to amazon and get my money back. I didn't realize that when I
took the back off my keyboard to check the batteries, that a small
USB
object was also in a small compartment along the back of my keyboard.
The back part that is on the battery compartment seems rather loose,
but I think it will stay on. I really like the large size of the
buttons, and the keyboard seems very ruggedly built. Is this loose
back compartment normal. I think it takes 2 double A. batteries. Are
these special double A. batteries? Should I get completely fresh
batteries to use in my keyboard? Thanks for any help.

Re: Emergency Alerts - Any Way to Edit These?

Hello,

My phone, being the idiot it is, likes to give me amber alerts.
From...Austin Texas, I know not why. Any way of turning these off?

If it helps, I live in Scotland.

Hi. I’m new in this group. I hope I can help.

Hello Joshua.
In Amazon, can you contact with the seller? If you can, please ask the
problem that you have, if he can help.

In the item description it will be wrote if the item is in perfect
condition, or if it has any problem. If you find anything that is not found
in the description, better to ask for a refund if you are not happy, or let
it go and carry with the item.

Find the model in the Logitech website, or if it’s very old, in Google or
other sites. When you find the exact model by the pictures, look if the
keyboard is compatible with iPhone, because Android Bluetooth is not the

have a couple of questions about a bluetooth keyboard that I got to use with my Iphone

Hi to all. I just bought a logitech bluetooth keyboard to use with my
new iPhone. I don't recall the model number, but it was one that I

The back part that is on the battery compartment seems rather loose,
but I think it will stay on. I really like the large size of the

back compartment normal. I think it takes 2 double A. batteries. Are
these special double A. batteries? Should I get completely fresh
