Also, if you jailbreak your iPhone, and call for tech support and mention that it's jailbroken, they probably won't help you. However if you jailbreak your iPhone and ever have to have it serviced, a restore of the software will remove the jailbreak. All that being said, there are 2 apps which come to mind which might fit the bill for you. 1. Filer. This app doesn't require a jailbreak. It allows you to upload files, such as music, documents, or whatever to the iPhone. Then from the app, you can manage or do whatever with these files, i.e. open them in other applications, ETC. If you just tap the music files you upload, you can listen to the music that way. However this isn't the same experience as using the built-in Music app of the iPhone. Basically, everything you upload to Filer will stay in Filer, but no jailbreak is necessary. 2. PWN Tunes. This is a jailbreak only app. Basically when you connect your iPhone to the pc, you can go to sever folders inside it, just like a usb stick. One of these folders is called my music and if you copy music there, you can later listen to it from the iPhone Music player. When you want to remove it, just connect it to the pc again and remove it from that same folder and it will be gone from the music player. Good luck. -- Raul A. Gallegos I'm not 50. Re: More feedback on speed dots?
Hi, I tried with SpeeDots but really didn't like them. In feeling for the dots I found I slowed down and listened to what I didn't want to hear ... All a bit confusing I thought! Perhaps it was because I had been typing without dots for a few months so I soon went back to that method of working. -- Carol P Original Message From: Traci To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Thursday, May 10, 2012 6:29 PM Subject: More feedback on speed dots? Hi all, I went through some of the viPhone archives and read about folks using the speed dots screen covers. I was hoping to get some more feedback on the 2 models. If I understand them correctly, 1 model has all the letters covered with dots except fj, and the other model has fj covered. Both models have the other dots sprinkled around. I'm curious who is using which one and if they feel they are worth it. For those of you using the model where nearly all the letters are covered, are you able to text without really paying attention to voiceover? Say for example, you are in a noisy place. My last concern is the screen placement and longevity. I read a handful of messages where folks couldn't get their screens to stick and stay in place. How annoying for a $10 purchase. Any further thoughts on this? Is it a good idea to take the cover to Verizon and have them fit it? Thanks for the info. In a perfect world I'd have a braille display, but $10 is far more realistic then $1700. :) Traci Sent by Macbook Air Mail -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. You either have Compact voice on or off. It is misleading to talk about voices in any other way, even if in practical terms that is the meaning. Here is where I am confused. When I look at my settings, I see Use Compact Voice On. Does that mean I am currently using the non-Compact voice or that the Compact voice is on. If I tap that button and it changes to Use Compact Voice Off, is the compact voice off and I am using the premium voice or will it begin using the premium, Compact voice when I tap that button and it changes to Use Compact Voice On. There is probably some engineer's logic to these toggles, but I do not see them as consistent throughout settings. Sometimes it means this is the state you are in, but other times it means this is what you will change to. I am simple, so any simple explanation will be appreciated. To my ear, I am using the original VoiceOver voice when my setting is Use Compact Voice On. I have been told this is the compact voice and not the high-quality, premium voice. But, if I switch to that other one, it sounds gravelly and distorted. Resetting your phone is done from the Settings App. This can involve setting the icons to alphabetical order, or it can involve totally wiping your phone as if it was new. This is also called Restoring. Don't you love all these terms? Now if your phone is acting strange, or not responding, then rebooting might be in order. Some people will say there is a soft and a hard reboot. I really don't know which is which, but pressing the sleep button for 5 or 6 times quickly seems to reboot it rather quickly. So maybe this is a soft reboot? If you do what you are asking about, where you press sleep and home at the same time for about 10 to 15 seconds, it reboots and takes a bit longer to come up. Hard reboot maybe? I haven't googled anything I said here, so if I'm totally wrong, I'm sure I'll be corrected. Good luck. -- Raul A. ITUNES QUESTIONS
Hi all, Just when I think I'm getting the hang of ITunes, well, um, perhaps I'm not! Anyone else feel the same? Smiles Anyway, a couple of questions for those of you who at least who have got to grips with it and feel able to give these a shot! 1)I've installed ITunes on a second computer and want to import all contents of my current ITunes so as to be able to swap freely between computers. I seem to remember you can copy all the contents of the ITunes folder structure and replace on the second computer; but does this really work so simply or do I need to be careful which files I take across? 2)My ITunes seems to be behaving rather erratically about ejecting my iPod and/or phone after use. (I do ensure that sync is complete before I attempt to eject.) Would it help to rename them in a certain way, or is there anything else I can do?? At present one is named as iPod and the other as Phone. 3)What's the easiest way to work on a group of songs and select them when they're not necessarily next to each other? Finally, here's a suggestion or two: I know some really hate ITunes and, at the very least, others of us struggle to get to grips with it. Jonathan's podcasts of course were excellent but I personally would like perhaps shorter tuition type podcasts, dealing only with a task or two in each session, with repetition if needed and a second/third walk through of that task so that you can practice along as you listen. If anyone feels able to do more podcasts on ITunes for those of us who find it more difficult to work with the programme, I for one would very much appreciate this. Finally, I am working hard to try to learn more in this area and, for example, have been getting to grips with the various shortcut keys available which certainly do speed things up. I would recommend that any beginner tries to look at the Help for this programme. (Why didn't I really stick at it at the beginning,I ask myself!) -- Carol P -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. UPGRADING THE JAMBOX BY JAWBONE
I do hope this isn't too off topic. I know various of us have the JamBox and love it but I'm struggling to find where to go to update my software. I went to MYTALK and got rather lost searching for the drivers I need. Any hints, or a direct URL would be most welcome. In the lower right corner is a more tab. This tab gives you far more control over your recordings and modify settings. You can look at your scheduled recordings and make changes to them. It also tells you how full your DVR is. I definitely recommend checking out this part of the app. I have no need for my saved icon for the dvr manager via Safari. :) Note, I don't see a way to hit play via this section, to control your dvr via the iPhone. Jenn, how versatile is the alarm? For example, I need to clean Norris's ears every three days and then sometimes there's a fifth Sunday in the month when something happens that doesn't on any other Sunday.
