I have a 14 Pro, that I traded in my 11 for. I am pleased with it. The 12, 13,
and 14 Pros and Pro Maxes have the Detection Mode in Magnifier, which is a
helpful app for a totally blind person.

RE: Differences in iPhone 14 models

2023-03-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I would highly recommend you get the iPhone 14 Pro. If you are considering the
iPhone 14 you would be better of to see if you can find an iPhone 13 Pro
instead.
The iPhone 14 did not get the newest processor like the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max
did and this is the first time that Apple has not put their latest chip in a
new phone. Basically if you buy an iPhone 14 you get the same processor as the
iPhone 13/13 Pro.
One thing the Pro models have (apart from better cameras) is the LiDAR sensor
which allows features like door detection and so on. I assume as time goes by,
more developers may make use of it so I think it's a good thing to have a phone
which has the LiDAR sensor. This means you have to get a Pro phone, the first
one which had this was the iPhone 12 Pro, when the iPhone 13/13 Pro phons came
out the 13 Pro again had it and not the regular 13 and the same applies to the
14 and 14 Pro, the 14 Pro/Pro Max have the liDAR sensor and the regular 14 and
14 Plus do not. This is why I feel as a blind person you are better off with an
iPhone 13 Pro over a regular iPhone 14. Also you probably get a better deal on
an iPhone 13 Pro, but I know here in Canada they are becoming a bit harder to
find.

RE: Differences in iPhone 14 models

2023-03-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It is only cool because it uses a USB-C cable, but it has already been
confirmed that Apple will throddle the speed of the USB-C connection to the
same as the Lightning port.
Anyways, who wants to plug in a cable any more, at least I find wireless
charging is way more convenient and I have a hunch that putting a USB-C port on
the iPhone 15 is just a temporary fix for Apple to comply with the rules n the
European Union and that possible as early as the iPhone 16 in 2024 there simply
won't be a charging port any more at all.
Also, nobody knows if the regular iPhone 15 gets the LiDAR sensor or if Apple
continues to only put that on the Pro phones and most people who predict what
Apple will do already say that again the regular iPhone 15 will not get this
year's latest 3 Nanometer processor and that just as last year, only the Pro
phones get it and the regular iPhone 15 will get last year's processor which is
now in the iPhone 14 Pro.
The fact is that in real life and for day-to-day usage it is pretty hard to
notice the difference anyways. Yes, when I upgraded from my iPhone 11 to the 13
Pro I noticed things were a bit snappier, apps opened a bit faster and all
that, but once you get used to it, you hardly notice it.
For Bill who is coming from an iPhone 8 even going to a 13 Pro whichis what I
would recommend unless he can get a good deal on a 14 Pro, will be a big jump
and big speed increase as well as battery life will be much better.
But you will pay top Dollar for the new phones as you always do and for the
last two upgrades I did, I found going with the previous year's model was a
much better deal and there is little if anything on an iPhone 14 or 14 Pro I
felt was worth it compared to the 13 Pro I got for a very good deal.

And I’m also considering Getting a new Apple Watch since my Apple Watch fifth
generation died two weeks before Christmas last year I saved up enough money,
thinking about getting the ultra because of a bigger screen, and the fact that
it has two speakers and tactile buttons. If I type it right if I get it or
rather if I purchase it on April 5 I should have it by my birthday which is
April 6. This is definitely a year of new stuff! Whatever phone model you end

Re: Differences in iPhone 14 models

2023-03-29 Thread Kelly Pierce
I agree with Joshua that the iPhone 15 Pro is setting up to be a
spectacular upgrade. It will have USBC supporting USB 3.2, which is 10
to 20 times the transfer rate of the current USB 2.0 technology. It
will be the first smart phone with a three nanometer processor,
delivering blazing fast speeds. It may also have dual channel
satellite navigation, giving location data as accurate as an inch
compared to the 20 feet single channel offers that was in all iPhones
before the 14 Pro.

Seigard, I disagree about the need for high speed data transfers. I
now have 512 GB of storage. Some iPhones have a whole terabyte. With
USB 2.0, transferring tens of thousands of music tracks takes several
hours. This is also so for sighted people taking uncompressed photos
with the 48-megapixel camera or 4k video. They need to move these big
photos and videos off their phones and onto their computers for more
storage.

For blind people, they may want to move a motley Crew discography off
their phone after listening to it in the gym five times and change it
out for another metal band.

I would also wait until the iPhone 15 comes out. You only have six months to
wait.

The iPhone 14 did not get the newest processor like the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro
Max did and this is the first time that Apple has not put their latest
chip in a new phone. Basically if you buy an iPhone 14 you get the same
processor as the iPhone 13/13 Pro.
One thing the Pro models have (apart from better cameras) is the LiDAR
sensor which allows features like door detection and so on. I assume as
time goes by, more developers may make use of it so I think it's a good
thing to have a phone which has the LiDAR sensor. This means you have to
get a Pro phone, the first one which had this was the iPhone 12 Pro, when
the iPhone 13/13 Pro phons came out the 13 Pro again had it and not the
regular 13 and the same applies to the 14 and 14 Pro, the 14 Pro/Pro Max
have the liDAR sensor and the regular 14 and 14 Plus do not. This is why
I feel as a blind person you are better off with an iPhone 13 Pro over a
regular iPhone 14. Also you probably get a better deal on an iPhone 13
Pro, but I know here in Canada they are becoming a bit harder to find.

Okay, I’m ready to make the jump from my 8 Plus soon.
I am interested in the iPhone 14 models, but know there are several
 choices in this family.
I need to know the differences in features and prices so I can decide
which one to get. That will of course determine what accessories I get.

I agree with Joshua that the iPhone 15 Pro is setting up to be a spectacular
upgrade. It will have USBC supporting USB 3.2, which is 10 to 20 times the
transfer rate of the current USB 2.0 technology. It will be the first smart
phone with a three nanometer processor, delivering blazing fast speeds. It may
also have dual channel satellite navigation, giving location data as accurate
as an inch compared to the 20 feet single channel offers that was in all
iPhones before the 14 Pro.

Seigard, I disagree about the need for high speed data transfers. I now have
512 GB of storage. Some iPhones have a whole terabyte. With USB 2.0,
transferring tens of thousands of music tracks takes several hours. This is
also so for sighted people taking uncompressed photos with the 48-megapixel
camera or 4k video. They need to move these big photos and videos off their
phones and onto their computers for more storage.

For blind people, they may want to move a motley Crew discography off their
phone after listening to it in the gym five times and change it out for another
metal band.

Well, if it helps you any, they're all kind of pretty much fully the same price
tag. As far as the 14s go. The big factory is adding the AppleCare and whether
you want to do it monthly or pay for the whole shebang. I personally have an
iPhone 14 and I love the style and the size it works out well for me. I'm able
to get both my android and my iPhone 14 in the same pocket comfortably without
losing either one of them.

Hey, I like that sound too. It works well for me. I hope that they keep it for
a long while. I know this is going to go way back, but before I got my iPhone,
and I was using my Sanyo devices, and even my QUALCOMM had i I even liked
having the tones go off whenever I was in a bad spot for service. That was even
very helpful. I wish iPhones had something like that.

I would never get an iPhone without getting apple care for it. I can
get replacement batteries for free since I have apple care. It is
great. My iPhone 13 pro max has 97% battery health and I've had my
phone since last July.

Then you don't have the right wirless charger, there are some very good MagSafe
ones which charge quite fast. Anyways, if you are in a real rush for some
reason you can always use a cable, but for every-day charging I find wireless
much more convenient especially since I often want to use my wired Earpods.
Usually when I go to bed I stick my iPhone to my Belkin MagSafe dual charging
stand which has a spot for my Apple Watch just next to the phone charging disk
and then I can use my wired headset. At work I have a wireless charger on my
desk so if I do need to top up the battery I just put it on top and forget
about it.

I never use wireless charging. I can recharge my iPhone so much faster with a

I don't want to have a wireless charger plugged in all the time. I
don't have the set up to have something like a wireless charger always
plugged in and set up. Also, you can't get something like an otterbox
case with fast wireless charging. I wouldn't change my otterbox
commuter series case just to have wireless charging.

turning off, the second sound if you still hold down the buttons, is for iphone
starting up again.

I have a wireless charger, but its not plugged in all the time. I keep it in
the box that it came with in my backpack. Whenever I need to charge my phone
at work I just pull it out set it up and charge my phone. It only takes a
minute or so to set it up and it works great. What's more, I have an auterbox
defender case and the phone charges just fine with it. So it is possible to
have a wireless charger with an auterbox case and it is also possible to have
one without having it plugged in and set up 24 7. The convinience of this is
that you don't have to plug in the phone while charging it and if you need to
do something with the phone while it is charging, you can just pick it up do
whatever task you need to do with it and then replace it on the charger when
you are finished.

I don't want to have a wireless charger plugged in all the time. I don't have
the set up to have something like a wireless charger always plugged in and set
up. Also, you can't get something like an otterbox case with fast wireless
charging. I wouldn't change my otterbox commuter series case just to have
wireless charging.

I was thinking of getting a 3-in-one wireless charger for my airpods pro,
iphone 14 and when I get it, my Apple watch. Think I'll get a later model of
Apple watch. What do you guys think of the Mophie 3 In One charger, Apple sells
it for about $150, but I think I can get it for less on Amazon.

I am not very experienced with wireless chargers, but my Muffy three and one is
not great with my iPhone SE second generation. If I don’t take the case off,
then it keeps turning charging on and off and doesn’t constantly charge. This
is not the case when I use my phone with my wife’s wireless charger.

With any non MagSafe compatible phones and chargers you have to make sure the
phone is positioned really good especially if it has a case. Of course it also
depends how thick your case is, but while I used a Mophie charging pad with my
iPhone 11 a lot as well, I found you really have to make sure you don't bump
the phone once it's on the pad and it started charging. With a MagSafe
compatible phone like iPhone 12 or above this is not an issue, the magnet is
fairly strong and the phone just sticks to the charger and it is always in the
correct position.and cases

RE: Differences in iPhone 14 models

2023-04-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The case has no influence over whether you get fast charging or not, that is
strictly a function of whatever wireless charging pad or stand you buy.
As I said in a couple of other posts, if you have an iPhone 12 or above make
sure you get a MagSafe charging pad or stand and there are definitely many good
ones which support fast charging although I believe they may not charge an
iPhone 14/14 Pro quite as fast as a cable with a 20 or more Watt wall adapter.
But it is really pretty inconsequential as I find mine charges plenty fast
enough and if somebody really had to get every last percent out of a limited
amount of time then you could always plug it in, but that really is what an
external battery is for. It really is pretty difficult to run your iPhone dry
nowadays as long as you have even a small external battery with a short
Lightning cable in your bag.

RE: Differences in iPhone 14 models

An interesting concept and to me that totally defeats the purpose of a wireless
charger. In any case, the charging stand I have on my night table and which can
charge my iPhone and Apple Watch at the same time would certainly be way too
big to bring with you and for me the point is to have something like that in a
couple of strategic places so I can have it set up all the time, have the
cables neatly hidden away and use it instantly. I admit that when I travel I do
for the most part still bring just a wall adapter with multiple USB-A and USB-C
outlets and a 6 foot Lightning cable which wiorks well in hotels or if I'm
staying with friends. For on the go or on airplanes I have my external battery
and a short 6-inch cable.
