Hi.

I don’t know the model, but the booster is sold by a company called Phonetone. It claims to have a coverage of 4,500 square feet. It should arrive today from Amazon. We’ll see how it does.

As for Wi-Fi calling, I didn’t think of that, The only thing I’m not sure of is if it would give me the coverage I’m looking for. It would work in my apartment, but I don’t know how far outside it would go. Whatever way this goes, I’ll

If you don’t mind me asking, which exact make and model did you get and was it fairly expensive? Any cell boosters which are cheap will not do much, the good ones are all quite pricy as in several hundred Dollars.

Also, you do realize that if you have WiFi at home you could turn on Wi-Fi calling and the poor cell signal won’t matter much as your calls will go out via WiFi.

Hi.

Cell service for me isn’t the best inside my apartment and a small area outside. I’ve gotten a cell booster that I’m hoping will help the situation. With this in mind, I have some questions.

First, what I got is supposed to cover up to 4,500 square feet. Does this include outside where I live? It doesn’t need to do much to fill in the poor signal.

How difficult is it to get it up and working? I’m hoping I can do it with no sighted assistance.

Lastly, I know these things are carrier specific. I’ve gotten one that should work. My question is does it need something like a sim card to work, or is it like a repeater, just rebroadcasting what it receives?

Those are my questions. Any info anyone has is appreciated.

Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.

Subject: Three questions concerning cell boosters

Hi.

Cell service for me isn’t the best inside my apartment and a small area
outside. I’ve gotten a cell booster that I’m hoping will help the situation.
With this in mind, I have some questions.

First, what I got is supposed to cover up to 4,500 square feet. Does this
include outside where I live? It doesn’t need to do much to fill in the poor
signal.

How difficult is it to get it up and working? I’m hoping I can do it with no
sighted assistance.

Lastly, I know these things are carrier specific. I’ve gotten one that should
work. My question is does it need something like a sim card to work, or is it
like a repeater, just rebroadcasting what it receives?

Those are my questions. Any info anyone has is appreciated.

Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.

2022-08-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If you don’t mind me asking, which exact make and model did you get and was it
fairly expensive? Any cell boosters which are cheap will not do much, the good
ones are all quite pricy as in several hundred Dollars.

Also, you do realize that if you have WiFi at home you could turn on Wi-Fi
calling and the poor cell signal won’t matter much as your calls will go out
via WiFi.

Re: Three questions

2021-11-29 Thread Chris Chaffin

I would not compare stacked widgets to folders. Rather, like I have mentioned,
they are like a stack of papers. So whatever paper, widget, is on top, than
that is the information you will be able to access.

For example, if your reminder widget is on top, then you will just be able to
swipe down through your current reminders. Then if you just do a three finger
flick up, then you will go to the next paper, widget, in your stack, and you
can then just swipe through that information.

Widgets are good for information that you want to quickly access.

  Hi Kay,

Widgets started with ios 14, and you can have widgets on your phone for
several apps that you have on your phone. What widgets you decide to have is
totally up to you.

I will just tell you that widgets come in three sizes, depending on the
size you choose will depend on how much of your home screen it takes up. And
if you decide to use multiple widgets, then just know that you can stack the
widgets on top of each other. Just think of them as a stack of papers. So
depending on which paper in your stack is currently on top will determine
what widget you see along with its information. It is very easy to switch
between widgets. Now stacking your widgets is just an option, you do not
have to if you do not want. It is just a good way of conserving space on
your home page.

For specific details on how to add a widget, I will refer you to a podcast
done on AppleVis. I will put the link below.

Lastly I will just say that, for my watch, I also put the battery status
as one of my complications on the face of my watch. This just allows me to

feel free to ask away!

Second, to turn the watch off, just hold the long button on the right
side until you feel a haptic feedback, at this time, a pop up will be on the
screen. Just swipe to power off and double tap.

Third, You can check your Apple Watch battery's charge level in
several places:

  1. Swipe up on the watch face to open Control Center and see the
battery percentage.

  2. On some watch faces, you can add a battery complication.

  3. On your iPhone, you can add a battery widget to show any connected

Hi Sieghard,

Sure, as I stated, stacking widgets is exactly that. One widget on top of each
other, so what you see is the information that is on the widget that is
currently on top. I have not tested it, but I think all widgets in the stack
must be the same size. For myself, I use the medium size widgets.

To stack a widget on top of another, just use the same method that you would
use to move an app.

For example, lets say that you have one widget already on your home screen and
you want to add another on top of it.
1, Flick up on the widget or any app and double tap edit to put things in edit
mode.
2, Go to the top and double tap add widget.
3, On the widget screen, choose the widget you want and choose add widget. This
will put you back on the home screen with the new wieget.
4, Now, you should still be in edit mode, but if not, just repeat step 1 above
to put yourself in edit mode.
5, Just flick up while on the new widget and double tap drag widget.
6, Navigate to your already existing widget, flick down and select add to stack
or name of existing widget.
7, Just do not forget about stopping edit mode once done.

Here is a few gestures to keep in mind when working with widgets.

While on stack of widgets, three finger flick up or down will move between
widgets.
While on stack of widgets, flicking up or down with one finger and choosing
previous or next widget will also move between widgets.
Doing a single finger double tap on a widget will open that app, so just like
the app icon on your home screen. So for any widget I have, I remove that app
icon from my home screen freeing up that space.
Doing a double tap and hold or single finger triple tap will bring up a pop up
edit screen. You can edit the current widget, edit the stack, plus other
choices.

By choosing edit widget from pop up menu, you can select from different
settings that the developer has built in to the widget. So not all widgets will
have this option.

By choosing edit stack, allows you to change the order your widgets are
stacked. Like I put the widgets that I access more near the top.

I am sure I have forgotten something, but hopefully this has been helpful. Like
I said previously, I have a 4 widget stack. My top 2 widgets is my reminders
and calendar, but I also have a weather and battery status widget that I can
access when I need too.

I also used the Today Screen widgets prior to the new widgets being added to
ios 14. It just seems to me personally that the new ones are easier to access
and are more flexible with settings. Plus, I am not sure how much the Today
Screen widgets are still being developed.

Again, hope this helps.

Do you find it quicker to access an app in a stack of widgets than in a folder?

Hi Kay,

Widgets started with ios 14, and you can have widgets on your phone for several
apps that you have on your phone. What widgets you decide to have is totally up
to you.

I will just tell you that widgets come in three sizes, depending on the size
you choose will depend on how much of your home screen it takes up. And if you
decide to use multiple widgets, then just know that you can stack the widgets
on top of each other. Just think of them as a stack of papers. So depending on
which paper in your stack is currently on top will determine what widget you
see along with its information. It is very easy to switch between widgets. Now
stacking your widgets is just an option, you do not have to if you do not want.
It is just a good way of conserving space on your home page.

For specific details on how to add a widget, I will refer you to a podcast done
on AppleVis. I will put the link below.

Lastly I will just say that, for my watch, I also put the battery status as one
of my complications on the face of my watch. This just allows me to quickly
check it without having to take out my phone.

OK' here is that AppleVis link:

Keep in mind that I think even the smallest widget will take up the same space
as 4 app icons across two rows, e.g. assume you have App Store, Clock in the
top row on the left and in the second spot from the left, then you have
Settings and Camera in the second row below App Store and Clock.

If you put a widget in that position all of these icons are pushed over and
that square is taken up by the widget. Personally I don't find them very
useful, but that is just me and I'm sure there are people on here who use and
like them.

Second, to turn the watch off, just hold the long button on the right

Third, You can check your Apple Watch battery's charge level in several

This just allows me to
quickly check it without having to take out my phone.

Re: Three questions

2021-11-27 Thread Chris Chaffin
Hi Sieghard and all,

Yes, widgets do take up some real estate on your home screen, and you do have
to keep that in mind when adding widgets. And I do agree, widgets is a personal
preference. It took me some time to come around to widgets, but now that I use
them on a daily basis, I would hate to do without them.

I have 4 widgets on my home screen, and since I stack them, they do not take up
any more room than one would. The widgets I use is reminders, carrot for my
weather, fantastical for my calendar, and battery for the status of all of my
connected devices. For me, it just puts everything in one place for me so I can
quickly check and keep track of things. I do know that there are different ways
of doing the same thing, but I find that it is the best for me and my situation.

As far as size, this is what I found on Google.

Small, 2 by 2 square.
Medium, 2 high, 4 wide.
Large, 4 by 4 square.

Hope this has been helpful.

First, Apple Watch questions are definitely on topic for this list, so
feel free to ask away!

Second, to turn the watch off, just hold the long button on the right side
until you feel a haptic feedback, at this time, a pop up will be on the
screen. Just swipe to power off and double tap.

Third, You can check your Apple Watch battery's charge level in several
places:
  1. Swipe up on the watch face to open Control Center and see the battery
percentage.
  2. On some watch faces, you can add a battery complication.
  3. On your iPhone, you can add a battery widget to show any connected
Apple Watch.

  Hope this has been helpful.

Re: Three questions

2021-11-27 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi,

First, AppleWatch is not off subject of this list. There are a couple of lists
you can join if you wish. I own one of them. You can subscribe by sending a
message to:
watchosblindusersgroup+subscr...@groups.io

The way you turn off your AppleWatch is to press the button underneath the
crown until you feel a haptic vibration. Now, flick right to power off and
double tap.

Sorry I forgot the last question, but here's some to get you started.

Hi Davy,

The iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X are not limited to bluetooth headsets, as
Christopher pointed out there are Lightning headsets and Lightning to 3.5mm
adapters. Of course now that all 3 phones support wireless charging you can
again use a wired Lightning headset like Apple's Lightning Earpods while
your phone is charging.

Good Morning,

1. Does IOS 11 work with IPhone 5C and mini IPad II?

2. Does the IPhone 8 have a home button or not?

3. Does the IPhone 8 have an earphone jack or is it strictly Bluetooth?

Thanks.

RE: Three questions about IPhone 8

2017-09-14 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Davy,

The iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X are not limited to bluetooth headsets, as
Christopher pointed out there are Lightning headsets and Lightning to 3.5mm
adapters. Of course now that all 3 phones support wireless charging you can
again use a wired Lightning headset like Apple's Lightning Earpods while your
phone is charging.

Re: Three questions about IPhone 8

On the question about whether it's strictly bluetooth, I would asume you
could still use Lightning connected headphones or use a 3.55Mm to
Lightninght dongle to use traditional headphones.

And another question: I gather that the 10 is the only one to use facial
recognition at this time. So I would think touch ID will still be used on the

Re: Three questions about IPhone 8

2017-09-14 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hi Vicky. I can answer your first question. In regards to being able to use iOS
11 on an iPhone 5 C and your iPad, Apple has stopped supporting 32 bit apps and
devices. Therefore, iOS 11 won't be supported on these devices. iOS 11 is
strictly a 64 bit operating system so only devices like the iPhone 5S, 6 and
6+, etc. will be able to support it. HTH.

RE: Three Questions About The Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-02 Thread Tom Rash
Got a question for you. How can you unpare your old Apple remote? I have
an Apple 3 and 4. I had the Apple 3 so I could continue to run my music to
my digital to analog converter bipassing the TV this way. Anyway, when I
use the Apple TV 3 remote, it turns on both Apple TV's 3 and 4. Any way to
isolate those two remotes?

Subject: Three Questions About The Apple TV 4th Generation

Hello All,

I went to an Apple Store, earlier today, to take alook at iPhone S.E.

I left the store with an Apple TV 4th Generation 64GB. (smile)

I just spent a couple of hours setting it up and exploring.

Now I know there's been a lot of podcast from Apple VIS, on this device and
I listened to a couple of them this evening.

Actually, I find the TV OS pretty strait forward but, as with all new
devices, I have some questions that you may be able to answer.

1.
Is there a page that describes the remote control buttons? I seem to
remember someone posting a very detailed description of the remote.

2.
When I first setup my device, I could swear I came across a way to adjust
VoiceOver volume. That is to say, when I pressed the Plus/Minus button, I
heard feedback as if I were adjusting VoiceOver volume. In fact, I am
almost positive that the volume changed on the device. However, for
whatever reason, since updating to the latest version of the OS, I cannot
reproduce such an adjustment. When I use the VoiceOver Rotor, I cannot
locate a volume option.

3.
Finally, Is it me, or is there no way to invert colors in the OS. The first
thing I noticed upon setting up the device was that, unlike my previous
Apple TV, in which menus had white text on a dark background, now it's dark
text on a white background. Absolutely yucky!!!

I must say that I did like the fact that I could use my iPhone to input all
of my wireless network settings. Also, I decided to pair my old Apple TV
remote control with my new Apple TV. So, now I'm using them both. Very,
very nice. Oh, and my Apple Wireless Bluetooth keyboard is working fine.

Any and all replies greatly appreciated.

Mark

Re: Three questions about the Seeing Eye GPS app.

2015-04-29 Thread Andy Baracco
There is a $299 lifetime subscription. If I were you, being that you already
paid for 3 years, I would use up your current subscription and at the end of
the time, see what you want to do. Offerings in this space are constantly
changing and improving. I have occasionally read posts to the effect that
Sendero has funding issues, so wait and see if the product is still being
offered 3 years from Now. I bought the 3 year sub in 2013 because it was the
best solution available but even now, I’m not sure that this is still the case,
and if I had to decide whether or not to resub today I probably would not.

Subject: Three questions about the Seeing Eye GPS app.
Hi.

I just purchased a three year subscription to the Seeing Eye GPS app. I have
three questions about it.

First, I thought I read somewhere that there was a lifetime subscription
available for the app. If so, how do I get it? I just saw the maximum of
three years, so that’s what I got.

Second, I notice that the app can be run in the background. However, when I do
this the app uses a voice that’s at a much higher speed than my default voice
with VoiceOver. If I have the app open on the screen, my default voice is
used, and it’s at a speed I like. If I lock the phone I get the much faster
voice. How do I slow this voice down?

Third, is there somewhere where I can get instructions on using this app?

I’ve used this app in the past, and I liked it at that time. Due to money, or
more accurately, the lack of it, I couldn’t afford to buy a subscription until
now. As I said, overall I like the app, and I plan on using it to find out
what’s around me, and maybe I’ll get some good ideas about visiting some
interesting spots.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Three questions about the Seeing Eye GPS app.

2015-04-29 Thread Richard Turner
You could have purchased a nonsubscription version for $299.99 if you had
looked for seeing eye gps xt.
I thought there was speech settings in the app, but am not sure right now.
The manual is available in several formats at:

Hi,

Press VO M to go to the menu bar. As soon as this is pressed, you will be
placed on the Apple menu. In here, select about this Mac. Its the first
option in the menu. This will display the OS on your Mac. To get Mountain
Lion, in the same Apple menu, select App store. Find Mountain Lion 10.8 and
purchase and download it like you would a song or app from iTunes. It will
download. When done, just follow the prompts.
