Re: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-08 Thread Michael Irons
Hello everyone I generally do not yet the latest version of iOS when it comes
out. I wait for later releases. I keep my updates on manual so that I can
decide when I want to update. I doing this I’ve been able to stay out of places
of iOS that had lots of problems.

Yeah we're all getting this focus issue

We'll just have to give apple some time to sort it out,

And people have to remember that we may not be the only ones getting these
issues happening in the new os versions,

For all we know the sightlings might be having the same issues also.

If not they probably get other bugs occurring.

Yes, under your Apple Id it's pretty bad, also on the Today screen or whatever
they call it nowadays I, for example, have a widget for my bank here in Canada
which shows my balances and it's always just stuck on my business account and
no amount of swiping or touching the screen elsewhere changes that.
Another place where I run into it often is when trying to share a news article
or something like that, the actual share sheet is fine, but let's say the
person isn't in the initial short list of recent people, if I tap on Messages
or WhatsApp to share something the resulting screen which opens is inaccessible.

I've seen it on page 0, the page dedicated to widgets, so I don't think it's

No argument with you on that one. I think I did say that I had seen it in
settings and a couple of other places in the actual operating system. However,
most of the places that I see yet are in apps. In fact, when I wrote to Apple
about this they asked me for the apps that I was having problems with. I never
answered them because I was afraid they would just tell me that the apps needed
to be updated. The problem is not just the apps.

Re: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread Lisa P. Geibel

Hi,

I've been seeing this subject and ignoring it, but since I agree and
have some issues with it myself, thought I'd chime in on how my Husband
I think IOS14 sucks in case there's a fix for them.

The first thing we hate about it, I don't think can be fixed as I
remember seeing that this may be taken away is that whenever a
notification comes in, it no longer announces the time like it used to.
Oh well, Apple you suck and should give us the option to have that
turned on or off for those that hated it.

The next thing is that I don't know if any of you have noticed this or
not, but some notifications come in and it doesn't read the entire
notification, but ends with a button and there's no way that we've found
to click on this and read the whole notification. Anyone else notice
this and know of a way to read the whole notification? Does anyone know
the character limit for notifications since it does read the entire one
sometimes and we're guessing that's the issue? Thanks and any help would
be greatly appreciated.

 Not true,

This is happening in features of the apple IOS 14 platform also.

It's aknown issue and apple are working on it.

I think that the focus issue is mostly in apps that have not been made properly
to work with iOS 14. I had problems with one or two pages of the iOS, but where
I’m having a terrible time is on my bank. I only have a Icon that takes me to
my bank so I don’t know if it’s an app or online, but it does have focus
issues. If you flick to the right it will take you back to the top no matter
what you try to do. I can do it by touch sometimes I touch into the middle of
the page and then go back and fix it. However, most of the problems are being
worked out by people updating Their apps.

A good place to start would be to keep track of what people have been reporting

Applevis.com about iOS 14, it's been spelled out many times what the major
issues are.

Some people always look at the cup as half empty and not half full and to them
everything sucks.

I must admit, however, that the focus issue in iOS 14 is extremely annoying and
in some cases causes huge accessibility issues.

I called Apple Accessibility this morning to ask about something and the
technician wanted to connect to my screen, he sent the request and I tapped on
Accept, but then a second screen came up where I had to tap on "Agree" and it
was not possible, Voiceover was stuck on "Decline" and it was clicking and
jumping around like crazy if I even so much as touched the screen a bit and in
the end the only very non-accessible way to connect to Apple Accessibility was
to turn Voiceover off and for my wife to tap on the "Agree" button. Without
sighted help I could not have connected.

I asked the guy when they would finally fix this annoying issue (he knew of
course exactly what I was talking about) and he said "very soon". Of course I
hear from 14.2 beta testers that in the most recent beta this apparently has
not yet been fixed and for the public we aren't even on iOS 14.1 let alone 14.2.

Or sorry to say it,

If you don’t like bugs in your software,

Get away from computing and technology,

Even tv firmware has bugs,

Jus tbecause you don’t see it or have it jumping out at you doesn’t mean the
bugs aren’t there.

It’s a fact of software life,

RE: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread Simon A Fogarty
It’s a new apple vacume cleaner,
They’re calling the Os for it 14 sucks.

I’d suggest rather than these comments people put the feed back app in the
betas to good use and tell apple of the issues rather than just bitch about
them on an email list.

I have troubles with the IOS version but feedback helps cure those ills.

Perhaps if people commented more constructively their opinion would be taken
more seriously.

What on earth IOS sucks is supposed to mean is beyond me!

As you probably know, as I'm on the Public Beta User's list, I tested 14 too. I
said in my email something like "You know, 14 sucks, 13 sucked, 12 sucked..."
meaning people's perception of it, because that's what this is. It doesn't
really cuck, unless you have that focus issue, but people come up against these
smaller bugs that they've not seen since 13 launched, or whatever, and they
think it sucks because impressions.
Now, it is insulting to me as well when people say it sucks, because I Invested
plenty into reporting braille issues and dealing with bugs much worse than the
public have seen. Believe me. But these are users, and they have their
perceptions.

You say all these operating systems sucked,

Why do you then keep coming back to apple products?

A way you could help make things better for everyone including yourself
Would be to get in to the Beta Testing programs an feedback to apple what you
are finding wrong with the operating systems.

Just a thought!

Hmmm, aren't you breaching the non disclosure agreement by telling us what bugs
you did not find? You said below you were not allowed to tell anything about
the betas. So maybe Apple should come after you too?

Having said that, I commend you for what I know is hard work doing beta
testing. I think people do have legitimate gripes about what sounds like an
awful voice over bug. Bugs happen in spite of the best testing. It is good to
let those of us on the list who have not yet upgraded know what they are
experiencing. And of course it is important to report these things to Apple.

hello,

be a beta tester and stop wining about this focus issue. as a beta tester, I
did not experience this issue you menchined with connecting to the support
representative. even if I had, it would be a breech of my nondiscloser
agreement. as a beta tester, nobody is allowed to tell people who are not
either in the apple developer program, or in the apple beta software program,
anything about these betas. whomever breeched the nondiscloser agreement to
tell you changes to VoiceOver, I hope they get something done to them by Apple.
Apple can sue, and I hope they consider this viable option. does anybody read
the apple beta software agreement? I do, and take it exstreamly seriously,
unlike the beta testwe who breeched it, to tell you something with VoiceOver
has differed to the public release of iOS 14. if anybody violates their non
discloser agreement, I hope you get what's coming to you from Apple. this list
is for stable releeses only. of you want to beta test, and talk openly about
beta releeses, their iss groupe on groups.io called public beta users. its
address is
publicbetausers+subscr...@groups.io. this grou;p it is a stipulation
you are a beta tester to be a member of it. they say so in the welcome message.
they also say if you are not, or no longer, a public beta tester, to unscribe
as it is a violation of Apple's Nondiscloser Agreement.

RE: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread chaltain
I agree that a statement like IOS 14 sucks isn’t very constructive, but just
because Apple says they’re committed to accessibility doesn’t give them a free
pass. They still need to be responsive to problems reported during and after
beta. I pay just as much for an iPhone as a sighted person does, and
accessibility is an advertised feature of the iPhone just like any other
feature.

I also agree that Android is a viable option, and people should consider it for
many reasons, including if anyone thinks it’s more stable then IOS 14 and
VoiceOver. That doesn’t mean people should just be told to go use Android if
they find an issue in IOS.

Bottom line is that IOS and VoiceOver won’t improve and issues won’t be
addressed if they aren’t reported to Apple.

That is sinnical thinking. Apple has publicly and exclusively told AppleVis
users how they’re committeded to Accessibility. They are a wonderful company,
and by that logic, Vispero’s primary job is to make money as well. Be great
full Apple builds VoiceOver and their other assistive technologies for free.
Right now, voice control is lacking at the present time, but it will get better
over time. I am optimistic it will work with VoiceOver in future. Zoom, in iOS,
did not work with VoiceOver. They fix it in iOS 6. To say that Apple’s primary
purpose is to make money, true of all companies, I just hope you’re happy with
JAWS, stop complaining and suck it up. So, you don’t like iOS 14, what is it
about it you do not like? Android 11 has come quite far, instead of wining
about it, give Android a shot. At least you no longer have a list on that
subject and your support is very pore compared to Apple, primarily web based,
and through be my eyes, so stop complaining about apple and use android, and
since you hate apple so much, use Android and forget about putting down apple,
it just does not get any useful things done.

Of course I
hear from 14.2 beta testers that in the most recent beta this apparently has
not yet been fixed and for the public we aren't even on iOS 14.1 let alone 14.2.

issues are.

I haven’t as yet upgraded to IOS 14. Rather than saying it sucks, perhaps
listers could say what is wrong with it so I can then decide whether to upgrade
or not?

Well, I respectivly disagree. I am sharing my perspective as a long time iOS
beta tester. iOS 14 is different but it deenatly does not suck. Sure, iOS
10 had its share of bugs in the early beta(s), but it got better. iOS 14 has
bugs too, as do all software releases, the only way to fix that is reporting
these bugs to Apple. It is insulting to me as a beta tester to here, “iOS 14
sucks,” the hard work I did reporting bugs to apple, only to find a sonic like
you to complain and use insulting language. Update or not, that is your
prerogative, but to come on a public list and read these thoughts, well, I say
to you, since you think iOS 14 sucks, beta test 14.2. why do you think this
anyway?

I’m not quite following your question, but wi-fi calling is when you want to
make phone calls and exchange text messaging when you have a weak or no
cellular connection. It won’t impact your ability to use data over wi-fi or
cellular. If having it on is a problem, I suppose you could turn it off until
you’re in a place with a poor or no cellular connection and then turn it on.

Re: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread Daniel MacDonald
hello,

be a beta tester and stop wining about this focus issue. as a beta
tester, I did not experience this issue you menchined with connecting
to the support representative. even if I had, it would be a breech of
my nondiscloser agreement. as a beta tester, nobody is allowed to tell
people who are not either in the apple developer program, or in the
apple beta software program, anything about these betas. whomever
breeched the nondiscloser agreement to tell you changes to VoiceOver,
I hope they get something done to them by Apple. Apple can sue, and I
hope they consider this viable option. does anybody read the apple
beta software agreement? I do, and take it exstreamly seriously,
unlike the beta testwe who breeched it, to tell you something with
VoiceOver has differed to the public release of iOS 14. if anybody
violates their non discloser agreement, I hope you get what's coming
to you from Apple. this list is for stable releeses only. of you want
to beta test, and talk openly about beta releeses, their iss groupe on
groups.io called public beta users. its address is
publicbetausers+subscr...@groups.io. this grou;p it is a stipulation
you are a beta tester to be a member of it. they say so in the welcome
message. they also say if you are not, or no longer, a public beta
tester, to unscribe as it is a violation of Apple's Nondiscloser
Agreement.

Re: The date and time input methods in calendar iOS 14 sucks

2020-10-06 Thread regina alvarado
Contact Apple if it bothers you. Every time there is an update things are
changed or improved or even broken, but Apple is not the only company that
changes things with their programs. There are bugs and changes in every piece
of software. If it bothers you that much contact Apple and tell them about it.
There are other things much more a problem than a different way to use an app
that still works perfectly fine with only a difference in how you put in dates
and times. Also, you can use Siri to do calendar entries.

RE: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread Les Kriegler
Hi Sieghard,

Can you explain what you mean by the focus issue? There has been so much mail,
I somehow missed it. I had terrible focus issues in Mail, where I spend most of
my time in IOS 13, but I’m happy to report that I have gone back to mail as
it’s really working well in IOS 14. Also, there was an issue for me in the
Stocks app where I would swipe and hear the prior item rather than the one I
should have moved to. I reported that one as well, and that seems to be
resolved.

Best Regards,

Les

Update or not, that is your
prerogative, but to come on a public list and read these thoughts, well, I say
to you, since you think iOS 14 sucks, beta test 14.2. why do you think this
anyway?

2020-10-06 Thread Øyvind Lode
I'm running iOS 14.0.1 and I do not have this problem.
I use wifi calling as well and all works fine here on my XR.
The only issue I have on iOS 14 is the VO focus bug which is a bit annoying.
Apart from that iOS 14 is a pretty good release.
I always perform a factory reset of my phone when I have strange
issues going on and that always resolves most problems.
This time I performed a factory reset right after upgrading to iOS 14
just to clean up my phone and apps.
As I said all is running smooth on my XR.

Re: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread Daniel MacDonald

Re: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread Daniel MacDonald
iOS 14 has many VoiceOver improvement(s). In the early betas, I went exploring
in the accessibility settings. I could not say anything, because of the
nondisclosure agreement, but since it’s out, image recognition is a game
changerer. Their is an app here in Canada called COVID alert. It is full of
images when first set up, and without iOS 14, I could not set it up. For phones
which support it, it is great. For phones that do not, their are a plethora of
features in iOS 14 you can get. Of course, the newer iPhones are always the
ones to get all features of an iOS upgrade, and in my view, when my iPhone SE
does not get all features of iOS in future software update(s) it is still a
good phone. So, to the iOS 14 haiters, nobody forst you to upgrade, and since
you hait iOS 14 anyway, it’s your own fault. The days of talks and Mobilespeek
predate me, but now screen reading, has became mainstream. The next heertal is
to get it mainstream on the windows platform. JAWS is way to expensive for most
people to afford, and its $350 biannually software maintenance agreements,
barbaric in my view. I tell you, if the conspect reached the cited market,
companies would be out of business! So stay true to VoiceOver, it’s miles
better than the cituation in Windows. Microsoft, they always say accessibility
is important to them, they develop Narrator at an ridiculously slow pace, and
if they’re actually serious, they would divert resources away from visual icons
to accessibility. I mean, VoiceOver on the Mac, everyone from what I’m told,
hated VoiceOver in Tiger. In Leopard, it was given a major overhaul. Snow
leopard , even more so. So be great full a mainstream company are not just all
talk and Apple, are actually action.

A good place to start would be to keep track of what people have been reporting
on this list for the last 3 weeks and to read the information available on
Applevis.com about iOS 14, it's been spelled out many times what the major
issues are.

I haven’t as yet upgraded to IOS 14. Rather than saying it sucks, perhaps
listers could say what is wrong with it so I can then decide whether to upgrade
or not?

is flawed, Apple "chose" to make iOS and iDevices accessible so the
responsibility is on them to do their best to accomplish this. I am by far not
one who bashes Apple without good reason and I understand no software is
perfect, but I think sometimes they do take their sweet time fixing something
pretty major like this focus issue in iOS 14.
To say we are just a tiny market and we can't expect it to be perfect would be
like saying audible street crossings if they are broken should not get fixed
within hours or maybe a day or two after it's reported simply because there
might only be 1 blind person crossing that intersection once a month so it's OK
for the maintenance guys to ignore it for 3 weeks.

Update or not, that is your
prerogative, but to come on a public list and read these thoughts, well, I say
to you, since you think iOS 14 sucks, beta test 14.2. why do you think this
anyway?

I’m getting alittle tired of this too. People jump on the first release of an
IOS and then whine when there are bugs. If you want more stable versions of
ios, wait till it gets more stable. I plan on going to IOS 14 in maybe March or
April.

Re: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread Les Kriegler
Well, I can tell you that iOS 14 has resolved tuition is that I feel are very
important. One is the fact that I can use the Mail app again. The focus issues
appear to have been resolved. That’s a major improvement. I also use Bluetooth
hearing aids which is why I upgraded to iOS 14 in the first place. It was an
issue or voiceover wasn’t giving up the use of the A’s and anything I listen to
including people I will talk to you would not have normal sound for about two
minutes. Now, it only takes a few seconds for that to come back. So in my view,
these are two major improvements making it worth the upgrade. I have concerns
about upgrading based on what I heard before, but when I heard about the
hearing aids, I thought what that was too important to pass up. I am glad that
I upgraded.

Of course they have, at least one totally blind person working there, maybe
two. But they're working there to build the stuff, I think. I don't know
what they exactly do, but they seem to depend on us a good deal for testing.

Just appreciate every day that we’ve talking phones, without needing to, as

that software is software, thus it’s very important to have more Beta testers,

Re: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread Devin Prater
As you probably know, as I'm on the Public Beta User's list, I tested 14
too. I said in my email something like "You know, 14 sucks, 13 sucked, 12
sucked..." meaning people's perception of it, because that's what this is.
It doesn't really cuck, unless you have that focus issue, but people come
up against these smaller bugs that they've not seen since 13 launched, or
whatever, and they think it sucks because impressions.
Now, it is insulting to me as well when people say it sucks, because I
Invested plenty into reporting braille issues and dealing with bugs much
worse than the public have seen. Believe me. But these are users, and they
have their perceptions.

2020-10-06 Thread Daniel MacDonald
Well, I respectivly disagree. I am sharing my perspective as a long time iOS
beta tester. iOS 14 is different but it deenatly does not suck. Sure, iOS
10 had its share of bugs in the early beta(s), but it got better. iOS 14 has
bugs too, as do all software releases, the only way to fix that is reporting
these bugs to Apple. It is insulting to me as a beta tester to here, “iOS 14
sucks,” the hard work I did reporting bugs to apple, only to find a sonic like
you to complain and use insulting language. Update or not, that is your
prerogative, but to come on a public list and read these thoughts, well, I say
to you, since you think iOS 14 sucks, beta test 14.2. why do you think this
anyway?

I mean, iOS 13 sucked. iOS 12 sucked. iOS 11 sucked. I'm starting to see
why people hold off on updating until a few release versions into the
current year's release. Maybe 14.2 will be better.

RE: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-06 Thread chaltain
I’m not quite following your question, but wi-fi calling is when you want to
make phone calls and exchange text messaging when you have a weak or no
cellular connection. It won’t impact your ability to use data over wi-fi or
cellular. If having it on is a problem, I suppose you could turn it off until
you’re in a place with a poor or no cellular connection and then turn it on.

Hi,

Turn off wifi calling. I was having the problem that you described. Turning off

Whenever I answer a call like I’m supposed to the call that’s calling does not
come through so I have to hang up and call back or like when I was talking to
someone a few minutes ago they kept saying hello and I heard them just fine
well she had to hang up on me because the phone is a PIA I’m sure you know what
that means. Any help I could get to fix this irritating problem would be

RE: iOS 14 sucks!!

2020-10-05 Thread edrew
I’d agree with Simon.. I updated to the latest IOS 14, Things are without a
doubt off.

I restarted my I Phone 11 and noticed some improvement.

As time passes, I’m noticing improvements every day.

Like our desktop and laptop computers, restarting them sometimes fixes things
as the system boots back up.

application that allows you to add events to your calendar that still does have
the ticker up and down for time and date
