Steve Jobbs also made fun of using a stylus and now Apple has a $99 Apple Penis, oops, I meant “Pencil”. Of course we’ll never know how Apple would have developed if Steve had not passed away this early, but while I think he was brilliant in many ways so do I think also that Tim Cook does a very good job. Re: iPhone seven rumors
Hi all. First, Jonathan: While I, myself, have done all I can to push the issue, AppleVis simply will not post something I don't think because of the reasons I outlined in my previous message. Understand the person who makes the final decisions on such matters is the site owner. While I am on the Editorial Team, and have some influence on the goings on of the site, the ultimate decision is not mine. I also sent an email to the hardware feedback form listed in your article, and hope this will make a difference. As I said in another email list, I think such an implementation would be fine if the technology were more advanced than what we currently have. To Rich and others regarding the haptic feedback and telling time, another rumor I saw awhile back was that developers would have access to the haptic engine in the next Watch OS, so perhaps this will be something we will see soon. In the mean time, there is currently a product in development that will ship in May of next year that promises to do this and more. I've seen a prototype of it, and it does look promising. They're also working on an iOS app that will work with the watch, though I have not had the chance to test that out. Hi. I don't have hearing problems and I'm not familiar with those who wear hearing aids, so know nothing about them. My question originates from a foundation of ignorance. Do modern hearing aids not have the capability to receive signals via Bluetooth? If this is so then would the headphone socket be redundant if those who use hearing aids could use the Bluetooth feature? I am of course referring here to general day-to-day tasks, not listening to music. In my view, it would be good to see AppleVis take an editorial position on something as significant to many of us as this, in the same way that Cult of mac has done, where they are opposing the jack's removal. I agree with you that a bunch of blind people won't stop this on their own, but it's an unpopular decision with many very loyal Apple fans, as the Apple fan sites have shown, so there is quite a coalition of concerned people forming. I for one was grateful to AppleVis for blowing the whistle on the inaccessible App Store a few iOS versions ago, and I believe it may not have been fixed before release if AppleVis hadn't done the right, brave thing and taken a public stand. This is another such time where it could help to make a difference. The jack has to go sometime, but hopefully, it can go at a point when the entire industry has agreed on a better standard. I certainly appreciate you organising to have AppleVis retweet the link to my blog post, and I'd be happy for AppleVis to use the text. I personally don't see much point in starting another discussion on another user forum, it's some sort of editorial post I was looking for. I believe at times like this, we all as a community need to pull together to work towards what's in our common interest. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Re: iPhone seven rumors
Hi Scott, when it comes to Apple rumours, it's important to look at their source, and whether they have a track record of accuracy. We're seeing credible sources suggesting that Apple may be holding an event in March to launch the Apple Watch 2. Since the iPhone 6C if it eventuates would be using the same chips that are already being produced for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it will be launched then. If there is to be an iPhone 6c, Apple won't want it overshadowing the iPhone 7 announcements. Those phones will of course be the current screen sizes. As for the headphone jack issue and your comment that people are being bent out of shape about it, again it's important to consider how credible the source is. We know that Apple has been thinking about the issue because they patented their own proprietary headphone jack, and then they introduced specs for made for iPhone headphones that use the Lightning port. As you say, there is a pair of headphones with a Lightning connector in the Apple Store now. for 800 bucks. And the rumour has been deemed credible enough to have been commented on extensively by many respected technology news sites, including Cult of Mac, 9 to 5 Mac, Apple Insider, Beta News, CNet, and Mashable. Even CBS has picked it up. But there is one site remaining curiously and ominously silent. What I find deeply disappointing is that AppleVis has not said a thing about a topic which could have an enormous impact on the way blind people use their iPhones. It's not just hearing impaired people who will take a hit, but anyone who wants to use their iPhone with minimal latency and energy consumption, who appreciate being able to charge their phones while they also enjoy the privacy that the headphone jack affords. There is an important and unique use case here that Apple need to be made aware of before it's too late, and for AppleVis to remain silent when many other Apple blogs are speaking out is a gross dereliction of duty in my opinion. Why isn't this an AppleVis campaign of the month? Staying silent on such an important issue, when AppleVis could at least be encouraging users to complete the feedback form, is ostrich-like in the extreme. I think it's time users held AppleVis to account for its silence on this. Re: iPhone seven rumors
February? I doubt that. When was the last time an iPhone wasn't released in the fall? I think, like with the headphone rumor, getting all bent out of shape is just not really going to help much. However, there could be more reason for the headphone rumor to becoming closer to a reality since Apple is now selling headphones with lightning connectors. SO while I doubt it'll happen next year, it's certainly not out of the rehlm of possibilities. I don't like the idea for a lot of reasons, one of them being that, just like the 1 port Mac, which is stupid imho, this will force me to carry around more crap if I need to use more than one port at a time. It also means more stuff to charge, shorter battery life on my phone, and the delay from VoiceOver. Maybe they'll just introduce the lack of a headphone plug on the 6C, assuming that rumor is going to come to pass, and see how it plays out. However, I'd say that the 5C was not a success, so they may not bother. Actually I would love a smaller phone and if that particular rumor is true I will be thinking very much about upgrading to the 7. I like a phone which fits into the pocket on cargo pants when shopping, etc. so the larger phones just don't fit. And the less space I have to search around the screen for things the faster and more efficient I am. JMT. Well, when the iPhone 7 and 7+ come out, I'm getting the plus. Using all 6 dots for braille screen input, which I've found a small usage for, will be good, as well as the better battery life. According to my local ABC news channel last evening, the smaller, 4 inch, iPhone would likely be released in February. I have no clue as to their source. That is all they said about it. Aren't rumors wonderful. Richard -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Re: iPhone seven rumors
I agree we'll have to wait and see, but one thing that's different about this year or the next is that the iPhone with the smaller footprint is getting rather long in the tooth. With the 5s getting older and maybe even not getting new IOS updates soon, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple releases a smaller iPhone 7 or 7S to keep a viable smaller iPhone as an option. RE: To buy a 6 or not to buy a 6, was, iPhone seven rumors
I have had a 6 since October 2014, no bending, no problems. Only problem I had initially was that the screen was slightly larger than the 4S I used previously and my finger memory was slightly off. It took a few days to not press in the wrong place, I flick the screens only when I absolutely need to do so it is time-consuming when for example I want to locate the phone app in the bottom left corner of the phone, I know where to find it on the screen and my finger goes there without having to hear every app on the home screen. I have no complaints about my 6. I have even sat on it once without a bending problem, forgot it was in my pocket. Like was said before, if you want a phone on contract then hit those carriers quick. My wife and I got new 6S's in September through T-Mobile and signed onto the new lease program, paying a certain amount per month. If we had waited until the iPhone 7 next fall, then we would probably have had to get on the lease program through AT&T, which would have been much more expensive. T-Mobile let us trade in our prior phones which brought the monthly cost way down. For instance, I am paying $5 per month to lease the 6S, and my wife is paying $15 a month I think. I think that contracts are only offered in stores but that will likely disappear in the next 6-12 months and everyone will be leasing--whether you want to or not. Re: iPhone seven rumors
There have been rumors of smaller iPhones for the last few years and it hasn't happened yet. Not to say that it won't but just that this rumor has made the rounds a few times before. We won't know until next June. Rest assured that there will be plenty of rumors though, and many from good sources, like CNN or CNET. Given that it took Apple a long time to finally get larger phones, and that many competitor phones are larger than the 6S+, I don't know how likely the smaller iPhone rumor is, but who knows. To buy a 6 or not to buy a 6, was, iPhone seven rumors
Hi. I understand your fears; I used to have an nokia 2210 navigator and it was small and a really great size. I now have the iPhone 6 and it is true it is much larger but it is also much, much thinner. I have it in a really sturdy case with a screen protector and although this increases the size dramatically, you do get used to it and on the occasions I have to take the phone from the case, the phone seams very small in comparison so it is really a matter of getting used to it. The phone on it's own is rigid and there is no danger of bending, I think that issue was with the 6+ but not the 6. The price certainly is an issue but it depends on how much storage you want. Obviously an 8gig 6 is going to be substantially cheaper than a 128gig 6 so you will find prices vary depending on capacity. I don't think Apple are doing the 6 in 128gig any more, or at least they didn't have on their web site and when I went to the apple store, they only had one 128gig left, which I grabbed. Although I wouldn't recommend it, you could go down the second hand rout and if you are in the uk, you could keep an eye on Recycle it where I've seen a few iPhone 6's on offer. Play.com is also a good option as well as Amazon if you want an unlocked phone. The other options are to go for a contract with a carrier and get a phone included in the package, it just depends on how much you can afford and if you want your phone locked to that network. I'm with Vodafone and have a good sim only deal, it is a 12 month contract and I get unlimited texts, unlimited calls to geographic and non-geographic numbers and 10gig of data per month. Plus I get spotify and other movie and entertainment packages which are normally premium services but I get them free for 3 months. This costs me £18.50 (around $28) per month. So there are loads of options out there but I can assure you the iPhone 6 is rigid. Walter. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Rajmund Sent: 08 December 2015 14:03 To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: iPhone seven rumors Hello, One of the reasons of me not getting a 6 is the size. I'm not so sure this is such a deterrent for Apple. I already have to carry around separate charging/data cables for Apple since Apple uses a proprietary format over the standard USB options. In fact, having a proprietary headphone jack may mean an additional revenue stream for Apple. On 08/12/15 01:26, Jonathan Mosen wrote: Hi Sieghard. Rob from the Today in iOS Podcast made a few good points in his latest episode where he of course talked about this. Firstly, he mentioned that this rumour has not surfaced for the first time, I think it did also come up 2 years ago. Secondly, he mentioned that that the iPod Touch is almost 1 mm thinner than the 6S or 6S Plus and it still has a 3.5mm headphone jack. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Mary Otten Sent: Monday, December 7, 2015 11:07 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: iPhone seven rumors Well, I have said before and will say again that I think it is a stupid idea to trade off one millimeter of thickness for the headphone jack. Alan, Everybody has their preference, I'll take the wired Apple Earpods any day over a Bluetooth headset or earpiece. I do use Bluetooth for certain situations, but for every-day and all-day use I can't stand the lag of Bluetooth headsets. Yes, I know you mentioned before yours doesn't lag, but they all do and whether it bothers the user I think is in the way you use your phone. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Alan Paganelli Sent: Monday, December 7, 2015 10:57 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: iPhone seven rumors I think too that with Bluetooth ear peaces and head sets, most people won't want to be hampered by a cord. Believe me, I'm letting Apple Know what I think of the idea. -Original Message- From: Chip Orange Sent: Monday, December 07, 2015 12:44 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: iPhone seven rumors I suspect this is going to happen, and I really don't see any problem with buying an adapter for existing headphones to use to plug into the lightning port. So, this might not be a good thing for Apple to do this. But, reports are also saying that they might use the lightning connector that you use to charge the iPhone to use it as a headphone jack. But, that means that in order for somebody's headphones to fit into that Jack, they will need to support a lightning connector for the headphones. I don't know what the companies will think about this change if it happens. Remember, if this rumor is true, please email Apple and tell them not to do this. Also, people might think that if there wasn't a headphone jack, we might still be able to use Bluetooth. But, this might not be what somebody else lights. Having a headphone jack is better. What will also happen to any Bluetooth speakers that people own? These speakers might have a headphone jack connected to them and might require that you plug it into the headphone jack in order to use. I hope that Apple does not make this move because it might not do any good for them. The iPhone sales might go down. We would not want that to happen just because Apple made this change. Please remember, the iPhone 7 is still in the making and these are just rumors. As long as we tell Apple what we want, who knows, they might listen to us. But, we can't just keep quiet. We need to try. Thank you. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Hey Mary, I hear your concerns, but we will not know what Apple has up it’s sleeve until it is out. Apple has maybe thought of this and has figured out a solution. Re: iPhone seven rumors
Unfortunately, many will not care about needing the adapter and the extra cost and all that. They'll just chalk it up to advancing technology, and for those who feel that way, great! However, there are plenty of reasons to keep the standard jack as is, go back and read Jonathan's blog entry posted a week or so ago. For those who are hearing impaired on top of needing voiceover there are real concerns here. Just take this thread back roughly a week or so and you'll see exactly why. I think too that with Bluetooth ear peaces and head sets, most people won't want to be hampered by a cord. I know I certainly don't. Please remember, the iPhone 7 is still in the making and these are just rumors. As long as we tell Apple what we want, who knows, they might listen to us. But, we can't just keep quiet. We need to try. Thank you. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. iPhone seven rumors
Sent from my iPhone hello, as you all may know you might have heard of some rumors claiming that the next iPhone will not have a headphone jack.
