My guesses as follows:-

Updated iPod nano (up to 8GB?)
iTunes Music store goes to iTunes Store
  - Now sells movies, well in the US anyway. ;o(
 iTunes version7
New updated iPod. Wonder if we'll see the one with a full
"touchscreen/wheel". Built in Bluetooth? 80GB and 120GB :o)))

Oh, and what did I read somewhere,...something called a TubePort. :o)

Well, we'll see how far off I am.

And that's not even my wishlist!! :o)

Enjoy!

Re: ITunes Music store is down,..

Interesting to note it says "iTunes Store" not "iTunes Music Store" too.
:-)

I would think the chances of us here in the "Second World" getting the
movies and TV shows at last would be pretty remote though. :-(

It continues to amaze me how high a profile in the Public Consciousness
Apple has now. The press is just going gaga over every little thing Apple
does - all it took this time were two words! ("It's Showtime")

It continues to be great time to be a Mac user.

I just hope Steve and the gang can sate people's expectations. It's getting
harder and harder to compete with al the inflated imagination.

List,

Just for a reference I solved the issue through a suggestion from my
brother who is also a list member.

He told me to turn off IPv6.. Low and behold the issue has gone.

Once again thanks for the various suggestions

Hi Michael

Another thing to try is a reinstall of the 10.4.7 Combo Update. I'd
download

it from here:-

Also see if you can through in some DNS settings into Network system
Preferences
(system Preferences - Network - Edit your current configuration -
Go to the

TCP/IP tab, about halfway down is DNS servers.
Close everything, restart, take a depth breath and see how it
goes. ;o)

The iTunes Music store is down. When you open iTunes you now get the message
saying

"It's Showtime. The iTunes Store is being updated"

Movies and Films to be purchased,..that we won't be able to get in Oz!

Hi Michael

Another thing to try is a reinstall of the 10.4.7 Combo Update. I'd download
it from here:-

Direct link to 10.4.7 Combo PPC Update

Direct link to 10.4.7 Combo Intel Update

You can install this over the top of what is already there.
(I've had something happen once before on a computer, where something
strange happened with the install, and the second install fixed it!
Computers eh!) :o)
Once installed, repair permissions.
Also see if you can through in some DNS settings into Network system
Preferences
(system Preferences - Network - Edit your current configuration - Go to the
TCP/IP tab, about halfway down is DNS servers. (here you can put a set of 4
digits from your ISP)
I notice you're with Westnet so your DNS settings would be as follows:-
203.21.20.20 (hit return)
203.10.1.9
(Click Apply now).

Close everything, restart, take a depth breath and see how it goes. ;o)

Hope that works!

September WAMUG meeting Streaming video available

2006-09-12 Thread Martin Hill
Some of you may have noticed the streaming recording of the WAMUG meeting
last week has been available since shortly after the meeting thanks to the
new automated iLecture recording system installed in the Geology seminar
room venue.

Rather than using a video camera to capture the meeting, the system records
whatever gets shown on the big screen at high resolution synchronised with
the audio from the audio system in the room, so you can clearly see the
mouse moving around and read all of the small text etc.

You can see it at the usual place:

ipod woes

2006-09-12 Thread Rosemary Horton
My ipod (photo) has been flaky since I got it. About every second
time I connect to my computer, it doesn't appear in itunes or Finder
(although it shows up in the usb section of system profiler) and of
course it shows "do not disconnect" on the screen.

Mostly , after a lot of tries I get it to re-set. I usually re-run
software updates and a couple of times I've done a restore. (Another
couple of times the apple re-seller did the same) I did suggest it be
swapped in the early months..but they didn't reckon there was a problem

This time, it's locked on "do not disconnect" and I can't get it to
re-set. I've made sure it's charged..but just no go. Has anyone any
suggestions?

Ragtime Solo is somewhat like Appleworks and has desktop publishing
facilities and a spreadsheet. I have used the former extensively but
not the latter. Separate spreadsheet pages can be linked. I do not
know the capacity of a single sheet. Ragtime Solo was free if not
used for commercial purposes. However, that privilege has been
removed. If you wish to try it I can forward a CD.

Open an invoice, click on the Print icon or select File>Print.., then look

Any reason why you can't use the save as PDF function built into the
standard print dialog in Mac OS X which allows any Mac program to export
directly to PDF? With Tiger, the Print to PDF options include saving as
compressed PDF, encrypted PDF etc.

Just click on the PDF button at the bottom left of any print dialog.
