Re: Mobile Broadband problem

2017-01-18 Thread Alex
Hi Ronni,

I’m finally back again! It has been a bit of a drama with all concerned -
ZettaNet & Apple Shop.

When I returned to Perth I went to ZettaNet & the outcome of that visit was
that they thought it was an Apple problem as the dongle works on a Windows
machine & they have eno known problems with other Apple users, although I
suspect they are smarter users than me & probably use personal hotspot.

I went to the Perth Apple Shop which was near by & they were very helpful &
managed to get it to work with a bit of detective work. However, when I got
home & tested it, it didn’t work again! I thought it might be operator error
so went back to the Apple Shop. All settings seemed to be OK & they didn’t
seem to be able to come up with the solution.

So the outcome of that is that I am ditching the dongle, which is relatively
old & is not being regularly upgraded by Huawei to meet Apple specs (may be the
actual problem in itself), and move to using the personal hotspot from my phone
for those times that I am away in Australia.

Thanks a zillion for your input Ronni - great as usual.

Cheers, Alex

Hi Alex,

What did Highway1/ZettaNet suggest?

Blue light Blinking (once every 2.9 seconds) Modem is registered to a UMTS
network

What settings do you have for the Huawei E160E in System Preferences > Network
Select Huawei Modem in the left pane
Click on Advanced
What settings do you have there?

Cheers,
Ronni

Re: Mobile Broadband problem

2017-01-03 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Alex,

Just adding to what Rob has already suggested.
What lights are showing on the dongle?
You have Network coverage where you are situated?
What have you tried to get it to connect?

* Restart your dongle
* If the dongle came with a extension cable, use that to make sure its properly
plugged in.
* Try another USB port
* Are you using any Proxy settings in System Preferences > Network > Advanced -
Proxies
* Uninstall and reinstall the dongle

Cheers,
Ronni
