Anyone heard Ladytron's album? That's not original but sounds like some long
lost 80s record - with very 2000s irony. It's off the hook. Makes you
reminisce about the days of Human League and Ultravox and (gulp) A Flock Of
Seagulls.

One of last year's faves for me... half of the tracks
Good question. There's a lot of great records that are not original, then
there's a lot of unoriginal stuff that is unlistenable to me. I loved the
Daft Punk album. The French have a knack of doing really good irreverent and
eccentric - and cred - pop, and the robot thing was fun. It's good to see
I think they are having fun
taking the p** out of the UK media myself.
They can take the piss out of who they want but all this talk of 'Since I
Left You' reminded me that I meant to buy that album a while ago - so I
just bought it! £8.44 as well! :o)
Obviously I can't really comment on it mysel
media myself.

Could anyone explain exactly what all the fuss is about?
some people like it, and some don't. some people think it's original, some
think it's lame and has been done to death before. no fuss. a difference
of opinion, that's all. :)
anyways, back to Detroit... anyone know w

Couldn't agree more. I was quite impressed with "since I left you" but, to
be frank, the other tracks I've heard have sounded like the worst of ninja
tunes about four or five years ago (when they churned out a hundred
'amusingly irreverent' sample-fests a week), and the Avalanches are no

Tim Maughan:
sorry, but i've heard the avalances LP. to my ear its no more revolutionary
than anything Moby has done. bland watered down trip hop nonsense for
marketing execs.
don't mince your words now... say what you really think. seeing as your
clearly not all that keen on The Avalanches

Carl's done a Paperclip People remix of "A Different Feeling". there are
promos of it doing the rounds, but i've not heard it myself and i've no idea
if or when it'll be officially released.

Any thoughts on this from the people in Oz? I'm curious what the reaction is
like there. It goes all over the place, with a common sample source to much
of Detroit/Chicago house (and well beyond that really). If I had to try and
characterize it, I'd put it somewhere between Dimitri from Paris, Mood
