Hi it seems to be related to duplicate A name records in DNS due to no
scavenging going on. I've corrected it and we will see what happens.

Are you asking if Microsoft decided not to use groupofnames in favor of
security groups or are you asking why they put groupofnames in the schema?
I can't speak to the former, but I'd say the latter is due to it being part

We are planning on 'upgrading' our AD boxes from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any caveats or gotchas that may bite us in
the rear. 'Upgrade' for us is defined as moving FSMOs, removing AD, slicking
the boxes, loading W2K3, DCPromo and moving FSMOs back.
The method you propose is actually the method I've heard Microsoft folks
suggest. Be sure you update the schema before you promote the first
W2K3 server to be a DC. I presume you intended to do that, but did not
mention it.

MessageWall is the receiving server, or at least one of. It's the server
that your Exchange server is trying to talk to.
Any idea what domain it's for? This is all that was in the NDR olusanyab so
you may need to track it in the tracking logs to see what domain it was
destined for before
On the client machine, under control
panel, email setup, email accounts, view (next), deliver new e-mail to the
following location Exchange or Personal Folder
We are using Outlook 2003, so the tabs may
be in a different place. I would also check to see if there is not spam
filtering or
Tools, email accounts, view/change existing
email..
It's on the next page, saying deliver to the following
location.
Rules can do this to you as well. Be a good idea to check
the rules.
To troubleshoot, you may want to turn the client off and
use OWA to see if it's staying in the inbox.

Dan,
It sounds like mail is being delivered to an alternate
location, like a PST file. Below is the link to check for it in Outlook
2k3. It should be similar for Outlook 2k.

Are you asking if Windows DNS needs to be used with AD? If so, then the
answer is no, you can use another DNS server such as BIND, the only
requirement being that it must support SRV records - dynamic updates are
optional, but preferred.

I installed it as a separate DNS first and then changed it to active
directory integrated after the domain was setup... so I'm assuming they
don't just automagically appear.

Title: Group Security Rights Problem
We did allow the update to replicate. Actually, we
let it sit for a month just to see and during that time the user has logged off
and on multiple times.
How do I check if Group1 is in User1's token when he tries
to connect to the resource?
From:
No, they should have still been there. Changing to integrated shouldn't
have caused them to go away.
If you need to redo them, you can find them in the
\System32\Config\Netlogon.dns file on the DC.
To add the SRV resource records that have been created for a domain
controller, open and view
Be sure that you have allowed dynamic registration for the zone
preferably in a secured configuration.
