I just bought new drives for 2k dollars because of this. Then I realised it was this kernel update. Can confirm, retracts (192) and hdd's gets hard shutdowns. (Power cycle) also increases as if the PC had power loss. This will break many old drives! Backing to previous kernel solves it. --
