I've been trying in vain to get 5.1 digital output from my SBLive card,
using ALSA 0.9.4 and aplay. I'm a bit stumped because I don't know if
it's a hardware limitation, software bug, or, most likely, a user issue.
I've created a six-channel wave file that I can play just fine with
$ aplay
I'm still trying to get ALSA working with the onboard sound on
my ASUS A7V8X-X MB. The lspci command shows the audio controller as
being a VT8233 AC97 Audio Controller. I'm using RedHat9 but with kernel
2.4.21-rc5. I am also using ALSA 0.9.4. The driver builds OK and the

of my 1010lt everythings fine and I can properly start alsamixer and edit all

All seems to be correctly loaded (including OSS/Free emulation), the

I'm attempting to configure ALSA on a new system with a SBLive card.
The old box (dead with a fried motherboard) also had a SBLive, so I
basically just copied the configuration files over. At this point I'm
not getting any error or warning messages, and ALSA appears to load
with no problems
