I am looking for a way do remap /dev/dsp to a jack port.
in particular my problem is that I tweaked all applications to output their
audio to jack, but the flashplayer plugin in mozilla firefox doesn't output
any audio.
Try oss2jack or jacklaunch (libjackasyn).

But alas...this is not to be! You can get both cards working in tandem
(of sorts) with the right .asoundrc file but they will not stay in
sync. I had 2 identical SBlive 5.1's and prayed constantly and fervently
to the great God of ALSA whom betrothed to us the .asoundrc miracle.
Yes,
Here's the message I posted a couple of weeks ago with my configuration:
I am trying to get an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 fully operational.
I cannot seem go get the envy24control to mix the SPIDF input. I can
patch it to HW 1 2 Out fine, but when I route via the mixer there is
no sound. I can
Any one having success with the S/PDIF on either of these devices?

I have an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 and am able to listen to input on the
S/PDIF when using envy24control to patch it directly to HW 1 2 out. I
have not been able to get the S/PDIF to work through the mixer or be
able to record from any input.
works for me, mixer and record. I'll volunteer
the VU movements i get are on HW in 1/2 for input, and PCM out 1-9 for
playback. these aren't affected by the patchbay settings.
The vu-meters have slider controls and mute buttons and L/R gang. These
affect only the digital mixer, so unmuting and setting the sliders up will
result vu-movement
Use 'Digital Mix' from the patchbay for H/W Out 12, this way you'll hear
the inputs and outputs mixed, and you can control the volumes from the
Monitor Mixer.
when i choose 'digital mix' i get neither input nor output. i assume this is
the key bit preventing me from doing mixing (two
I find that I cannot play back multiple channels. I can
playback single channel audio just fine, but if I try
to playback multi-channel audio, no sound comes out.
How do you play back multiple channels exactly?
aplay? ecasound?

i have a delta/66, which has four output channels. i'm currently able
to play a stereo audio file on the first two channels. is it possible
to play a second file independently on the second set of channels?
Yes, dshare plugin is your friend. See bindings section.
With dshare, yes
I have the AP for a long time, and apart from the not working OSS
mixer emulation (which I don't need anyways) this is a cool card. It
basically is only a stero card, but the chipset handles 10/12
channels. This can confuse some applications. The asoundrc suggestions
on alsa-project.org all
IMO it would be very useful to have a detailed list of features
supported for each soundcard and possibly some other details that might
help in choosing the right soundcard for particular use (some info is
already there but not very organized and mostly from users (hit and
miss), I think
Se! I told you it was a simple question, but I'm buggered if I can find
what I now need to do. Any help/pointers would be gratefully accepted.

Hear anything?
Aplay should report the rate/bit depth of the wav file. If it reports
errors or doesn't report anything, problems ahead.
However, `make install' exits with an error:

M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 and M-Audio Delta 1010LT both worked with
spdif. That is, I tested that 1010LT sent it's analog input(s) to spdif
and 2496 received them. Sound was as clear as the original analog input.
Also captured from spdif (after little modifications to asoundrc)

Take a look on JACK:

I think it has some latency measuring possibilities, and it might be able

This is a heartfelt request for anyone who has
successfully used Alsa 0.9.6 w/ an M-Audio Audiophile
card under either kernel 2.4.21 or 2.6.0-test*, built
as modules.
I have Audiophile 2496 working with 2.4.20 2.6.0-test4, Alsa 0.9.6

Hi. Just came up with a stupid idea of combining multiple stereo
soundcards for multichannel recording. Normally the clocks have to be
synced, but in cheap soundcards that´s not possible. But no problem. Just
record simultaneously with all of them, regardless of the different
clocks, even with
Does the .wav 2gb limit exist in linux?
I believe that the limit is acutally 4G. However, that is not an OS limit,
but
rather a limit resulting from how the file headers are structured.
I have made 2GB .wav files in linux, with arecord and with ecasound.
Haven´t tested them in windows
