Hello. I have a new Mythtv setup for recording video. Everything is
working, but I am having problems with the audio playback. Specifically, on
playback the audio sounds "graveley," i.e. there are very frequent, rapid,
short drop-outs. This happens not only when I play back via Mythtv, but

Aha! I finally stumbled across gmane.org, so that at last I can actually look
through archives of sf.net mailing lists! (The standard [EMAIL

archives are completely unusable for me, and always have been. 60 second timeout
followed by a 500 Internal Server Error
I have a laptop using the snd_hda_intel driver under 2.6.16. When I
first install the module, aplay works with the hardware device:
aplay -Dhw:0,0 sound.wav
plays, as many times as I try to play it. But if I ever go through dmix:
aplay -Dplug:dmix sound.wav
then I get no sound, and will nev
longer there. They return as soon as
fluidsynth exits.
If you have any helpful hints, tips or pointers to info, this would be
greatly appreciated.

I got various problem snd-intel8x0 with the new alsa
version in various boxes. One box use NVIDIA chipset
modules loads ok , no sound, can not test with several
version because the box is not mine, use oss is
This is a diskless system and I thought I might be having trouble with
NFS, so I created a RAM disk and played from that with the same affect.
Everything is running from RAM with RAM left over.

I got an old 486 machine and I can not know which card
is, by chance I used the sb driver in the oss-free
(Linux kernel) and it works so I think it might be one
of sound blaster . Now I tried alsa many times
without success, first I compile --with-cards=sb8 ;
