i have downloaded version 4.03 and i cannot get analog to uncompress my *.gz files.   i used the UNCOMPRESS *.gz, but it didn't work.  i get a fatal error saying "failure to open configuration file analog.cfg: ignoring it"... then it goes on to say it can't find a language file and so forth.

There is indeed system-wide config /etc/analog.cfg with line UNCOMPRESS *.gz,*.Z "gzip -cd" After changing that to /bin/gzip, it started to work. Thanks for your help. But I would expect my local config overwrites system-wide config - isn't this compress problem something like a bug? - Robert

Yeah I tried it and it did not work. So I painfully unzipped all my log files (thank god they were just monthly) and used gzip on them. Whats weird though is that when I zipped them with winzip, gzip could unzip them. However, analog could not. -- Original Message --
