I finally got the rxfax and txfax modules to compile, the spandsp lib
installed (and in the libpath), and now receive:
-- Starting simple switch on 'Zap/1-1'
-- Executing RxFAX(Zap/1-1, /var/fax.tif) in new stack

at last (using libtiff 3.5.7 as Mike Machado suggested) i was able to get
spandsp working on my debian sid 2.6.8.1, with * up to 18-08-2004 and
bristuff 4a
i've tested only fax receiving and the file on /var/spool/asterisk-fax/

I'm trying to install the RxFax in Asterisk.
After much trouble getting app_rxfax.c(and friends) compiles and installed
into Asterisk (thanks to the many asterisk-users messages) it did get it
installed. I have been unable to receive a legible fax. app_rxfax
provides lots of debugging
