Save a little disk space? But it will cost you a lot of work. You can

Hi Colin,
Having bought one of Patrick's SB+s I can categorically say that the
weak link you need to deal with is the SB itself. As good as it is it
can be significantly improved through modification or the addition of
an external DAC (witness the launch of the Transporter).
I also use

You need to be able to record at 44.1kHz (same as CD). The sweeps are
44.1kHz FLAC. Be sure to measure with equipment which really does
record at 44.1. Some of the cheap equipment will only record at 48kHz,
and you won't get a good measurement that way.
(For now, 44.1 is the only sample-rate
I ripped all my CD's (and all my wife's) to FLAC. Primarily to have a
backup so that regardless of what the next format that comes along is,
I can just convert from the CD-equivalent FLAC's.
I also converted everything to MP3's, moving the FLAC's to offline
storage and using the MP3's for

This looks like great work. And the documentation is even pretty good,

Sorry, I don't think the current version will work with SB1. Added to

I went through a phase when I first got out of college back in the early
90's where I bought every CD I could get my hands on, about 800 in all.
That was around the time every artist in the world began releasing
greatest hits CD's and various artist compilations took off.

Thanks for the quick response. SB1 support would be greatly
appreciated. But if you don't add it then I suppose Slim will probably
sell another SB3...;)

advantages over other methods at this point, in your view?

Well if it's lossless, by definition the end resulting bitrate won't
matter.
You can see it vary, depending on the track, anywhere from 500kbps to
1440kbps, but that all depends on how compressible the audio is. (Just
like if you use zip to compress a text document or something -really-
