It may be argued that coax is better (optical has less loss over a

It's not so much the cables as the things they plug in to - sometimes
toslink or Coax interfaces are not implemented as well as it might be
at the transmitting and/or receiving end.
My experience is that in any system you have to try both and see which
one sounds best...there is no general rule
Does anyone know if the word clock feature on the transporter is
compatible with the ClockLink Feature on the Wadia 27i? The Wadia 27i
looks like an interesting piece of equipment if it's Clock Link would
work with the transporter.

I notice the Derek Shek d1 comes with a regulated switched mode power
supply. I thought these are taboo and should be replaced with a

It does seem that buying CDs is still the preferred option.
My reasons for seeking downloads are :-
-(Fairly) instant gratification. Downloading 400 -500 MB is actaully
quite a bit faster than even fedex overnight.
-Just to buy indivudal tracks
-No unnecesaary packaging and associated
I would like lossless and DRMless downloads for the convenience as well.
BTW, why do they need to drm lossy 128kbps files anway?
The audio is already more degraded than making a tape of a vinyl
record.
Seems like their whole justification is full of wholes.

Vandersteen bi-wiring gives you similar sonic benefits at a lower cost.
In case you still want to bi-amp, I believe he recommends vertical
biamping, that is, one amp for each speaker. Both amps being the same
model.

pretty intrigued by it. One thing to bear in mind is that to make full
use of it, and to get the benefit of bi-amping, you'll probably want to
bypass the analogue crossover. If it's external that should be easy to

Right, on the 3.6Rs, the main crossover is external, and bi-amping
pretty easy to do (and in fact it seems to be designed for that
purpose).
Not sure about tri-amping though.

Actually, Monsieur Ice...I agree with you. The only reason I use the
amps I use is that they can take the x-over modules for my speakers.
I'm not sure I could tell the difference between them and any really
high-end (ie costly - usually) amp. Your basic premise that provided

I'm not even sure if the phase thing is better with the deqx. I only
gave the behringer's manual a brief read, but you can apply different
amounts of delay to each channel (if I remember correctly, in a
frequency-dependent manner).

I use a Musical Fidelity A300 with my 2cei signatures. You made an
excellent speaker choice. I purchased my amp new for $1300 a few years
ago. This is an integrated dual mono box with that plays well at all
volumes with these speakers. Any more power and my ears would blow up,

My thoughts exactly. I have a Bryston BP25MC preamp. At this point, upon
further online perusal, I am currently sold on the Benchmark DAC1. I am,
however, pondering waiting for a Bryston outboard DAC, based on the
wonderful reviews of their preamps or integrated amps with their
integrated DAC.
