Currently I'm using a twisted pair of high purity single crystal magnet
wire (18AWG), the wire cost a whopping $1 per foot, so with two wires
its $2 per foot. With my current speakers this is the best wire I have

Guys, I agree. Passive speakers can have weird impedance profiles which
could highlight cable effects. Active speakers are more
straightforward.

As always with audio, and especially with speakers, a lot depends on the
budget. There are some very good two channel in-wall speakers available,
although I don't know if any will sound as good as your Dynaudio
floorstanders. Even so, as discussed in that earlier thread, your

It's quite hard to decouple the speakers from the wall - especially a
stud wall and especially if you use 'in-wall' loudspeakers - most of
which actually clip to the wall and so transmit a lot of energy to it.
Many are just rebadged car speakers too. Not what you want.
I'd go for a pair of ATC

And you'll turn of the Alsa plugin output mode - which is the 2nd
best choice in terms of SQ.. With this mod we go straight to the
