I tried the other way of decoding , must say , I didn't notice that much

I have an SB3 at the moment and I find that its internal DAC bumps up

It can become fatiguing as my speakers are a bit forward to begin with.

You're not wrong - it's your opinion, but many others are very happy
with the Transporter (myself included).
Good luck finding so

It is quite interesting to compare the two settings, as they certainly

hear the difference.
I can only guess as to why there is

Hi Kris,
My CD players has a certain extra weight to the upper bass, something
that I had unconciously compensated for when I positioned my speakers,
as a result getting a compromise between the CD player and the
turntable.
The TP does not have this characteristic, and so I had to reposition

Hi Everyone, Sounds like im not alone
I would have thought that the Bel Canto DAC would take away that thin,

Much more likely is that you retrained your ears/brain to like what you
heard.
I have zero belief in claims that electronic components
My experince is exactly same.
It did get better after a couple of weeks but it was still overly

I did get it modded , that diddent do much , but the mod greatly

I am also of the opinion the transporter is pretty accurate and somewhat
cold and a little forward
I bought it cos I thought it could replace my front end in a headphone
system which was a Jolida CDP (valve) and a musical Fidelity X-can v3
running Siemens CCs's and either a Senheisser HD 600 or 65

Yep, mine was pretty good right out of the box. Then all over the map

You're ears are playing tricks on you. :) You feel what you expect to
feel.
Like right now, I'm drinking an Anchor Steam Beer, and chatting with a
good friend. All the music sounds great. ;)

vocals - sometimes its a bit fautiging, anyone find a similar thing?
its like vocals overtake the musical instruments constantly..

I would certainly remove the Bel Canto and run the Analog outs of the
Transporter directly into your Musical Fidelity. The Transporter has a
very good DAC and analog stage all of which you are wasting by running
spidf out. You could use a Squeezebox for that scenario. Let us know
what you think. M
Thanks, ive managed to drop the gain on the Bel Canto a bit and match it
to the TP set at MAX with the MF Amp - works fine...
I may fiddle with jumpers later - now to listen, see if the Bel Canto
DAC makes a difference or not...

You may need to attenuate the analogue out of the TP to match it to your
amp.
There are internal jumpers to do this for the RCA outs. For the
balanced outs you'll need to purchase balanced attenuators.
Read the wikis for more info first though.

Thanks for the fast reply. So no issues running the TP at max volume and
controlling it via the amp?
I am running wireless, ill look into running it wired also.
I am actually running the TP into the amp via the analogue outputs
right now, but the bel canto is connected. Ill do some A/B comparisi

Why don't you try the analog out from the TP and not use the BelCanto
dac.
You might find you like the TP more. One of the advantages of using the
TP dac is that you don't need to use the spdif connection.
Give that a try and let us know what you think.
Just imagine, if you like the TP as much
Hi Guys

Thanks Mark, I had horrible visions of having to send
Sometimes jiggling the knob helps.
I hope that next Transporter won't have anything on it's front mask.
Who uses that anyway, it's just for show off.

Later firmware versions didn't do this quite as much, so be sure to

Hi All, just installed my TP and so far am totally knocked out by it -
one thing I've noticed is that occasionally it emits a clunking noise
when using the remote( a bit like a floppy disk drive reading a disk ,
but not as loud ) is this normal ?
