Just done a search on HDTracks for Raising Sand but could not find
anything listed. Is this the name of an Album? Who is the artist?

Michael,
You are playing the 24/96 version? Which transporter firmware version
are you running?

This is all very strange. My tranporter is hard wired, but on what
could be an oldish version of firmware(77).
I will try to dig further.

Reviving an old thread - I have just purchased a 24/96 copy of 'Raising
Sand' from HD tracks.
As it arrives from HDTracks the Transporter is unable to play any
track, just noise produced, although my DAC does recognise the S/PDIF
stream produced by the transporter as 24/96. I followed the

Answering my own question, Rebecca Pidgeon's Spanish Harlem did indeed
stutter when played through my new Touch.
Just spent a while re-encoding all Hi-rez flacs to -0
Thanks for all of the above recommendations. I too had difficulty with
'Spanish Harlem' from HDTracks. I reformatted it at a compression of
3,Flac,and still at 24/96 and the distortion was gone.

I've been running quite a few Linn and HDTracks 24/96 files, and never
had problems till very recently. After seeing this post, I found that
(at least) one recent purchase simply needed to be re-compressed at a
lower compression level. I used level 3, and everything was great. It
was driving me
I have experienced the same issue. If you re-encode the file at the
default 5 compression level, the tracks from HDTracks.com will play
fine. I run them all through a FLAC-FLAC recompression when I get them
and it has fixed all problems I have encountered. I have the same songs

The 20 24/96 flac albums I have never caused me any problems (running

To extend this a little bit further...
the higher the level of compression, the higher the amount of work
required to de-compress. It seems that the Transporter isn't quite
capable of de-compressing 24/96 flac files with high levels of
compression. Converting to wav, or reducing the amount of
I'm little surprised by the fact that Transporter cannot decompress on
the fly 24/96 flac files without any struggling.
I admit I didn't conduct any test myself but maybe there is a chance
that my Transporter is able to do that without hickups :-).
I'm going to record some 24/96 files and put
As Sean alluded to, earlier in this thread, it has been a problem with
some material, some levels of compression, and some firmware versions.
To me, it appears that the hardware is a bit marginal.
As my 24/96 files account for less than 2% of my total music
collection, the extra space

the best workaround is to use flac to re-encode that one track. It'll
probably work with the default settings.

You don't need to decode to WAV. If you just run the FLAC utility it
will decode and re-encode the FLAC using standard settings.

We used to have problems where TP would run short of cpu cycles on
certain 24/96 material but I thought that was not an issue any more. It
may be that this material was encoded using the highest compression
settings which results in slightly more CPU-intensive decoding. You
might try

When I disable the native decoder the song plays perfectly. So there
must
be a decoder bug. Is there a downside in having this setting disabled?
