the mother and it doesn't make sense. (lulalia?). Her first name is Jacinta.
At first I thought the second name was Candida but further down there is the
name candida and it's written very clear. Could it be Carlo

abbreviations more and more as I get back in time. I even noticed the priest
abbreviating the word for filho (a). The first time I saw it, I got stuck on

this week whereas I haven't seen that name hardly in Ponta Delgada churches.

Go to LDS.org (the church's website) to locate family history center closest
to you. They're closed on Mondays but usually there will be people there to
answer the phone and help you get started from around 9-3 from Tuesday to

I found the marriage of Jose D'Almeida and Miguelina De Torres. (Yay!).
Without all your help and learning about the way they interchanged names- I
would have totally missed this record. (Maybe given up!). So, I'm confused
on how to enter these names correctly in the familysearch tree or any
Luiza de Jesus Coreira is my husband's gr grandmother and lived in Boston so
we have her birthdate as 5 February 1838. I even found her passport with her
picture when my husband's mom died and I had to "dispose" of her belongings
after she lived 40 years in the same house. It's a miracle how
I found the Sao Jose expostos book and I found a Luiza baptized 5 February1838.
That is the date she used as her birth date!
Does any one know if with expostos they used the date of their baptism as their
date of birth ? They probably didn't know what date they were born. What is
