Greetings,
I just upgraded apache on my backuppc machine and now have a
problem with backuppc's web interface.
Normally, I access backuppc via URL

This is now returning

Good Evening,
The drive with my BackupPC files on it is generating "I/O error"
messages and reiserfsck's recommendation is, once a drive is reporting
errors, it's nearing the end of its life and ought to be replaced.

Hi Travis,
An interesting quest
On my gentoo linux workstation I have vmware-server running WinXP home
as a guest operating system. I'm working to configure BackupPC to save
WinXP's files.
The WinXP virtual machine is named winxp-vm and C: is shared as WINXP-C.
In /etc/hosts is:

I've had 3.0.0 betas running fine and updated to 3.0.0 final a couple

change the configuration.
However, tonight I decided to decrease the max number of backups saved
and got the following messages:

After upgrading to beta3, the backuppc daemon is failing to
start. "/etc/init.d/backuppc start" doesn't generate any

I've discovered that the start attempt logs the following messages

G'day Craig,
More fun and games with beta2...
It's generating incomplete backups. After running a full backup, I
looked at the file counts and saw that the most recent backup has
approx 130,000 files when my hard drive has approx 2,000,000 files.

for this reaction include:

I've got 3.0.0 installed and running. Backuppc is reading the
config.pl file but isn't reading the config files for specific hosts.
As 2.1.2 works fine, so I think the various host.pl files are OK..
What detail am I missing?
Thanks.

Hi John,

I'm sure it's a small, stupid detail but it's escaping me.
I'm attempting to get backuppc-3.0.0-beta1 running on my
gentoo system. I've got both 2.1.2-p2 and 3.0.0-beta1 installed (in
separate directories, named appropriately) and have a script to
create symlinks pointing to the desired version.
Using backuppc-2.1.2pl2, x86, Gentoo and starting an incremental
backup via the web interface, nothing appeared to happen. So I
checked the log and found:
.. User backuppc requested backup of host_xyz (host_xyz)

Greetings,
I've been using ReiserFS for my BackupPC hard drive. A lot of time is

FWIW, I'm running a 2.6.14 kernel and the backup drive h

Greetings,
About a year ago I thought I had found an ideal system backup setup.
Using BackupPC and a USB hard drive, I could backup my LAN and, with
multiple USB drives, even have the security of off-site storage.
Naturally, things got more complex :-<
As BackupPC will, potentially, create lots

run as userid "backuppc", rather than as user "mailman".
I've verified this behavior using a scrip
