4.2, but 460 GT
is still considerably slower with the BMW scene (2m30s with 5.5
compared to 2m01s with 4.2), and 580 GTX had a similar difference. It
seems you are testing with a 6xx card so that makes sense.
Patch attached for those who want to test this with 5.0/5.5.

It's a small detail but I would avoid such #ifdef's, makes the code
less easy to read and means implementation details of the random
number generator don't stay nicely contained in a single file.

at all. There were several reasons why Cycles development started, BI code base

this commit fixes GPU rendering on sm_20 (GTX 580).
Maybe you can still fix the real issue. If we keep this as is, it could
become problematic for animations and Multi GPU, as images could be
slightly different then.

of these reports are quite old already and have not been fixed in
the last year and I doubt they will from our side in the future.
Having them in one place in the Wiki, would also allow for new devs who
want to pick-up BI code to see the status/issues.
