The male Kentucky Warbler found by Bruce Ripley was still actively singing
in full view this morning at Parrott¹s Bay Conservation Area (just west of
Kingston). It seems to have settled into a small territory. For
directions, see Bruce¹s posting yesterday.

This afternoon there was a first summer Lesser Black-backed Gull sitting
with Herring and Ring-billed Gulls on the beach on the west side of the
Cobourg wharf. From the 401 take exit 474 south to the wharf. The beach is
to the left.

The Hooded Warbler was still present at 1 p.m. In Terry Carrise Park along
the river edge approximately halfway between the two park entrances.

metre out from the end of the boat slips at the end of Johnson Street. The
odds are extremely high that it will be there first thing tomorrow.

At 6:00 p.m. yesterday there was a Northern Hawk Owl perched atop first a
tree, then a telephone line on the west side of the junction of Highway 7
and Drummond Concession 5B, approximately 10 km northeast of Perth.

1 Cooper¹s Hawk, and an adult tundrius Peregrine. Also, 8 Tundra Swans, 400
Common Goldeneye, 500 Redhead, 200 Greater Scaup, 8 Bufflehead, 1 Bohemian
Waxwing and 1 Northern Shrike. Amerherst Island is reached by ferry from
Millhaven, departing on the hour.

Today Jon Ruddy and I birded the eastern side of Prince Edward County and
recorded 102 species including a white morph Ross¹s Goose, and 3 and
possibly 5 adult Little Gulls (two that flew in later may have been part of
the three that left with approximately 400 Bonaparte¹s Gulls) and in the
pond on
owls, chasing it across a field. Approximately 15 Northern Harriers, 15
Red-tailed Hawks, 12 Rough-legged Hawks, and 4 American Kestrels were
present in the same general area.

Monday at 5:30 p.m. I came across a Great Gray Owl on Highway 15 / 29 two
kilometres east of Pakenham. It was sitting atop a small tree on the south
side of the highway and then flew across to the north side.
