birds of 56 species in the Georgina, East Gwillimbury and northwest Uxbridge

The 34th Wallaceburg CBC took place yesterday, December 28th under one of
the nicest weather conditions that I've ever experienced on a Christmas
Count. There was virtually no wind all day, temperatures rose from 1

65th Pickering CBC – December 29, 2018
We held our 65th Christmas Bird Count for Pickering on Saturday
December 29, 2018. The count was sponsored by Pickering Naturalists.
A total of 74 species were tallied, well above our 10-year average of
68.3 species. The highest count of the last decade
Brandon Walters found a Hudsonian godwit at cranberry marsh in Whitby.

SNOW in MID-MAY, Erieau.
The snowy owl reported by Frank and Rob Pinilla on May 8th near Eriieau was
respotted today. We missed on this bird last weekend, however Andy Eveland and
myself located it this morning around 11:30 a.m. on lagoon road south of
Bissnet Line.This is my first snowy
At about 12:30 today (Saturday), I watched a female King Eider about 200 m
offshore at the bottom of Ontario St. in Cobourg just west of the harbour. I
watched it for about 20 minutes or more during which time it dove several
times. It was solitary but there were greater scaup and

Good morning birders,
At least twenty-three species of warbler so far this morning seen by a
collection of independent observers and participants on the Friends of
Point Pelee Guided Hikes. Weather-wise, the skies are clearer than
yesterday, with less wind coming in off the lake (today from the
11.04.13 - 4pm - Bohemian Waxwings - a flight of 60/70+ are feeding on a
crab-apple east on Knightsbridge Way - Markham - take Hwy 7 east from
MarkhamRoad to its junction with Wootten Way then north on Wootten Way a
shortdistance to Knightsbridge Way on the east side - head east on

Hello,
This is the summary (unofficial) of the Hamilton Christmas Bird
Count held on December 26th. 2012.
Counters in the field including bird feeder watchers totaled 103.
Weather on the day was dominated by strong easterly winds and a
temperature of a steady -2 C.
Sarnia Ontario...Canatara Beach.at the bandshell area beach.At first we
noted the bald eagle by the raucous the crows were making.The crows left at the
arrival of the second bald eagle.Both proceeded to the beach area where the
larger of the two began feeding at the surf line while the

Thick-billed kingbird now at tip of penninsula at parking lot on water near
calf pasture. Walk pebble beach on North side of penn. For 150 yds. Bird in

Hi, I saw a strange duck today at Reesor Pond. It looked like a mallard and a
common merganser mated, or something. It was the size of a common merganser,
and the same shape but the head was more rounded like a mallard. The belly was
dark, it was only white at the breast. The top/back of the

noted among them an Adult (white) Ross's Goose on the 3rd line just south of
Brophy Drive (from highway 416 exit at Brophy Drive, head west, turn south on

Hermit Thrush in the Glossy Buckthorn bushes opposite #36 Bayshore Drive in the

Hello Birders.
The local flock of WAXWINGS contains about 15 BOHEMIANS
this afternoon and was down Glendale Beach Rd.in the Herb Farm trees.
This is in Lambton County off the Lakeshore Rd. almost due west of Forest.

This morning the Little Gulls climbed to 47 birds in the marsh. Very little
courtship and feeding was occuring. They were mostly just loafing on debris
and along the edge of the Bonaparte's Flock. There were 1336 Bonaparte's
Gull loafing on the mud spit still at 9am. I did not check what was on
I heard a woodcock in Windsor last at approximately 9:15. I heard it by the
railroad tracks immediately behind the WFCU Arena. The WFCU sits west of the
Little River corridor in East Windsor.

We saw a shrike quite sure a Northern near St Thomas ford plant. Just south of
the ford plant on Longhurst line heading west approx. 3 - 4 miles ther is a
decline in the road over a culvert and small creek with cow pasture on the

The ice on Reesor Pond is still intact but the first Killdeer arrived this
afternoon as well as a very pale juvenile, Norhern Shrike. A Northern Mocking
Bird perched on a small spruce at the NE corner of the Ninth Line and Hwy 7.
Reesor Pond lies just North of Hwy 407 on Reesor Road in
Birding Amherst Island and owl woods today, located 1 Boreal; 3 Northern
Sawwhet; 1 Long Eared, 1 Barred owl in owl woods. Other species located
were snowy owl; long tailed duck during the ferry crossing and a nice
close look at a Rough-Legged Hawk. Images of all available at link below.
