output and thought I'd cracked it so I tried again and again but can't get any

Actually, :0 isn't a terminal like tty1, tty2, etc. It's indicating a
graphical login (i.e gdm), where :0 is your local display.

Xorg 7.2 running OK with an integrated KM400 Via chipset. Although the DRI
side of things are questionable. I've tried the xf86 via video driver as well

This might actually be a better choice since some utilities might have
the paths to coreutils utilities hard-coded. For instance, I'm pretty
sure something if diffutils does this. So, things might break if you
move the coreutils from where they are now.

If rm and ls are in /usr/bin, then that is a bug in your setup. They
are expected to be in /bin for many reasons, one of which is
assumptions by other utilities. That's where we install them in LFS.

I think you have to solve this issue before you go any further. First,
is /bin in your PATH? Can you run /bin/ls? You might want to check the
directory and file permissions for /bin, /lib, /sbin, etc.

gnopernicus, many of us have been disappointed. With orca and KDE looking at

I wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction in resolving this
gnome control centre make error? I've googled and found some references but
can't seem to find the solution or any indication what it is I've done or not
done.
