Hello, all. I'll try to keep this as short and simple as possible. I've got
4 GB of ram in my system. About a week and a half ago, my video card ended
up dying, and I bought a replacement. My old card had 256 mb of ram on it,
and the new card supposedly has 512 mb of ram on it. I had a company

I'm using xp media center, so does that mean it should be recognizing my
full 4 GB? Any theories on why this isn't the case, and how I might go
about fixing it? I'm just curious, because if a tech couldn't figure it
out, I'm assuming it must be pretty complicated. Mostly, I'm baffled as to
why
Weird! Thank you very much! Maybe I'll get a different tech, this time a
friend who will look at it for free or for a meal out, to double check on
it. If you or anyone else has tips on how to force windows to recognize it,
that would be very much appreciated. If not, hopefully my friend will
If in fact you're sharing memory then no way will you pick up the entire
amount. Now having said that the fact is your memory card shouldn't be
sucking up probably no more than 256. Normally they take 128 such as what is
on my wife's system.

Hi Missy,
How did you confirm that RAM size when you checked it?
Was it during boot up and you saw the RAM counter count out the memory on
your system, or did you go through a program on your computer?
If you go to the My Computer icon on your desktop, then press alt+enter to

Thanks Rick.
I haven't topped out on file size, so it must be some other issue.

Hi! Bios and software such as cpuz recognize my full 4 GB of memory, so I'm
99% definite it isn't a hardware issue. The 2.5 GB is reported when I do

it reported 3 GB before the video card change. I thought I made that
David, your quite correct, as media centre edition is essentially a media

Howdy Frank. The SAM Encoder can utilize SHOUTCAST streaming and Windows
Media 9 or higher servers to stream over the Net. The program costs around
$300 or so. HTH. Your bro in Christ,

Hmmm. Try running a Disk Check on the drive and check both boxes. It

Hi Patricia,
On both items, good deal.
Just a thought, if you can swing it,
get an external drive with it's own power supply,
