There were four 811's in the RCA transmitter I used to babysit. That
thing was a brick.
The Harris daytime transmitter was a lot less reliable.

An 811 is a tube from the 40s, I recall a Western Electric KW broadcast
transmitter that used a pair to modulate a pair. It was a brute. To my
knowledge tube testers were not intended to test transmitter tubes.maybe a TV
fly back tube The way to test them is in a transmitter noting the watts
Those tubes go in a Ameritron 811a. I have that Amp. Bought two RCA tubes 2
months ago for 35$ each on a trade site. They are certainly useable if they are
working.

[BVARC] tube tester That is a shame. I have an old RCA tube manual I just
found. I studied tubes and discrete transistors in tech school, then went to
engineering school and got all digital. Right in the transition.

Back in '82 - '83 my tv/radio/vcr/whatever repair shop was doing poorly. I
sold my tube testing cabinet for $35.00 to a competitor so as to support my
household for a bit longer. Actually a week, almost, with a bit of gas for

Greetings,
Unfortunately my tube tester is too new to test this tube. I would
recommend contacting Chris at EPO, Electronic Parts Outlet, to ask him if
his tube checker can test this tube; if it is listed on his chart. He has
a stand-up tube tester such as would have been at drug stores of my
Friends,
Speaking of tubes, I have 2 RCA-branded 811-A tubes that I was given about 20
years ago and have no use for ... would they be of interest to anyone (I have
no idea as to their value, if any)? They appear to be like-new, although I do
NOT have the individual boxes, nor a tester.
Couldn't you simply just measure pin to pin and compare one tube to the
others? Find the odd guy(s) out that way. Then, stick them, one by one,
in the "tube testers" from Ameritron, the 811 or 811H. HI
John, HOC, is the tube guy.he will know73...RH

One of the guys in KARS needs to test a few 811's, does anyone have a
tester capable of testing these?
Thanks

I have a top-of-the-line "late model" tube tester, mostly for consumer
types of tubes.
If your tubes are in my chart then this apparatus is at your service, we
can meet up. Please specify the tubes needing test.
What a co-incidence, I was using it just this morning on an S-53A.
