Is the "client variable" a cookie?  If so, in CF 5 you cannot set a cooie and then use CFLOCATION in the same file...the cookie will not be set.  You can do this in CFMX though. If you are setting a cookie and then using CFLOCATION...let me know...there is a workaround I can dig up for you. Cheer
