the only problem with epoxy primer (witch i truly belive in ) is it chalks out after a year or more but  if you coat it afterwards with  a good hardened semi gloss paint it will hold up forever i did this to my control arms five or six years ago and it is like new still on a practically dail

I used a "Catalyzed" Epoxy Primer from Auto paint supply store. In my case, I want the semi-gloss look that was produced by the factory when they used to use lacquer paint or primer under the car but it was poorly done and often did little to stop rust.
