Gary and all, Thanks for all the advice. I was only wondering about the replacement cost if it turned out to be more. A week ago, she ran fine. Yesterday, I couldn’t get it to turn over. Plenty of cranking from the starter, but no “fire”. We checked and cleaned the air filter, the fuel

I replaced the head gasket on the Yanmar 2GM in our 29. Apart from the usual lack of access, it was no big deal. I took the head off and had it cleaned and faced at a good shop, and putting it all back together went mostly smoothly. One fuel injector line just would not go back in the right place,

Edd, The M35B installed in Imzadi in 2000 failed in 2009. Long story. Cheap previous owner who cut one too many corners on the installation. After looking at cost and installation labor for a number of alternatives (Yanmar 3?M30, Beta 35, etc.) I ended up getting a 2010 bobtail M35B (no

Edd; The 30 and 35 HP Beta 4 cylinder engines are based on the same Kubota diesel engine as the M35B, so the engine swap would be a relatively easy change out. Different transmission, so maybe a new prop needed, and a different wiring harness adds a bit of complexity but not much. I

Edd, Your M-35 is a marinized Kubota tractor engine. You might contact a tractor mechanic about rebuilding it. Seems to me a rebuild should be in the $3000-3500 range. A new one would be north of $7-8K. I handled a complete rebuild on an M-30 a while back. I got most of the parts from a

I used 4000UV to caulk along the top of my glued-and-screwed-on-to-the-outside-of-the-boat windows without frames, and after a couple of years it pulled away from the Plexiglas. Not a lot, but enough to form a small gap that water can flow through. Stayed stuck real good to the gelcoat though,

Edd, Have the head check closely for cracks. Sometimes the gasket fails owing to issues with th e head/block surfaces. I spent one summer season nursing my old Yanmar powered CC 36 around the PNW with a cracked head. I would use the compression release to get it started when cold.
