Hi all,
An adult Broad-winged Hawk flew over the Kohl's parking lot (Circle and

Two days ago, I saw my FOS Chipping Sparrows at Red Rock Canyon open space on

A late afternoon jaunt out to Ramah SRA (extreme NE El Paso County) showed
some turn over in the shorebird department today. What surprised me most
was how much the water line had receded since Sunday. Unless there is some
rain, I'd guess there may only be a couple of weeks of shorebird habit
A birder friend writes "I saw this bird on 4-21-09, didn't have reason
to think anything was wrong with it. When I saw it today,4-22-09, at
the exact same spot I knew something had to be wrong with it. The
right wing was injured. It's now being treated at the Rocky Mountain

Ok, so I hadn't seen any warblers. But after I sent the last post I was
working in the yard and saw yellow rumped and Wilson's warblers. Also saw my
FOS western kingbird and say's phoebe. Chipping sparrows came through and am
still hearing white crowned sparrows. Spring hath sprunged!

Hi COBirders,
Weekly check of 85 "bluebird" houses at the USAFA showed 7 early nests
being constructed - I think all by WB Nuthatch. Four seem ready but
no eggs yet (have seemed prepared for at least a week. - waiting for

Also, had two FOY VG Swallow - BUT both were inside boxes
Hi COBirders,
Nancy Gobris, RMBO, opened the CBR banding station for the season,
this morning. As expected this early, not too many captures - about
15 total, but a few good early discoveries. While it is starting to
green-up after the moisture, this week has been pretty hot for April -

direction.
Not anything else new in BCLP this morning - a few male Audubon and
