[cobirds] Weekend of Birding/Weld

Hi all Ovenbird at Crow Valley Campground was best bird of weekend for me! Photos at website below now. Also, of note, we had at least two Gray Flycatchers, I assume, both wagged tail downward when perched. Photos, too, if someone wants to confirm the flycatcher. Crow Valley also hosted Spotted

Just knocking around hoping for fallout based on Bryan Guarente's comments on wind shift the other day, we went East for more birds and fewer people. We did see the Philadelphia Vireo at the visitors' center at Barr Lake, and fyi, there is another out around mile marker three. Also out back the

All, First, thanks to Nick K for getting the word out about the Ruff. Not a bad bird to make you feel rewarded for being out on a morning like this rather than feeling somewhat silly and nuts. I guess the truth is I feel both. I have listed below my Ebird checklist that has the photos I was

[cobirds] CSR Chipping Sparrow note

Hi again, I just thought of an interesting CHSP observation to share from this week from Clear Spring Ranch. Early in August I was surprised that about 95% of the Chipping Sparrows I was catching were adults, or at least After Hatch Year birds, with many females with recovering brood patches.

[cobirds] Eared vs. Horned Grebe ID

Hi all, I was discussing some grebe (Eared vs. Horned) ID with some birders this morning and I thought it would be a good time to share this resource with the wider community: https://cobirds.org/Publications/ColoradoBirds/InTheScope/26.pdf I'd like to urge birders to be very cautious about ID

For those of you who wish to look for the reported Ruff, here are some notes on accessing Timnath Reservoir. The town park at south end (accessed from CR-40) is posted “permit only” but FC Audubon has negotiated for birder access. The puddle hosting the Ruff is not visible from the park, and req
