this morning at 7:20 a.m. Two brief glimpses given to me and Dan Brook.
Given like a "gift." The bird was seen SSW of the "arrow" or SSE from the

The female Anna's Hummingbird is still at Rachel Hopper's home in Fort
Collins. Sean Walter, Christie Pals and I saw it two times, at around 2:10
p.m. and again at 3:00 p.m.

The bird that I reported as a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird yesterday
was a no show today. Birders might be questioning my id for the bird and
rightfully so as Ruby-throated and Black-chinned females are virtually
identical.
What first grabbed our attention was the smaller size as

While eating dinner this evening and watching hummingbirds come and go from
our feeder, a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird made at least three visits
between 6:45 - 7:00 p.m.. We also had a male Black-chinned and several
Broad-tailed hummers. Not seeing any Rufous or Calliopes.

The Mourning Warbler found by David Leatherman on Tuesday is still at
McMurray Natural Area in Fort Collins. It was observed by many birders at
around 11:45 a.m. today. The Worm-eating Warbler has not been re-found as
of now. Many of the birds have moved on, still many Swainson's

McMurry and Magpie Meander Natural Areas in Fort Collins were hot for birds
as indicated by Sue and Kevin. I was there from 6:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.,
observed 61 species of birds in the small confines of these two natural

The Lucy's Warbler first reported by David Leatherman and observed by many
others over the last few days was still at Eaton Cemetery this morning from
10 a.m. - 12 Noon. Bob B and hopefully Nancy B also saw the bird, not to

As of 11:00 a.m. this morning the American Woodcock found by Simonds
yesterday and reported by others is still at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area
along the small creek that flows along the east side of the road. The bird
is between the ranger house and upstream to where the next house is.

Red-necked Grebes at Lake John. The Red-necked Grebes are still incubating

Over 30 people participated in the 23 Annual Spring Bird Count at Fountain
Creek Regional Park in El Paso County this morning. At the preliminary
count we had roughly 95 or 96 species for the day. Nine warblers, but we
did not see the signature poster bird for International Migratory

Fountain Creek Regional Park Spring Bird Count this coming Saturday, May
11, 7:00 - 11:00 a.m. This park is located in El Paso County approximately
nine miles south of downtown Colorado Springs and boasts having

Yesterday, May 6, Brad Tyler and I birded in several locations in El Paso,
Pueblo and Fremont Counties. We had a respectable day with 85 species, but
easily could have seen more with a little more effort.

Fountain Creek Regional Park: Northern Waterthrush (area 3),

My Birding for Beginners 101 groups birded at Fountain Creek Regional Park
and the nearby Pinello Ranch (limited access) on Friday and Saturday
mornings. There were a few migrants coming through. We had lots (100) of
Yellow-rumped Warblers on Friday; there were fewer on Saturday

I birded a bit at Fountain Creek Regional Park between 10 and noon today.
There were a lot of Yellow-rumped Warblers, maybe as many as 50. I did
not see any other warblers. Other good birds included one Hermit Thrush,

Blue Heron rookeries and birding several other places in El Paso County. We

This past Friday and Saturday mornings I led my Birding for Beginners
participants to locations at Fountain Creek Nature Center, the
TinselTownPond off of I-25 and Circle Dr., Prospect Lake and Big
Johnson Reservoir in
El Paso County. We had a few good birds each day seeing 50 species

While traveling through Canon City yesterday morning, Bob Bonestroo and I
briefly stopped at the Tunnel Drive Trailhead in Canon City. While there we
had great looks at two Rufous-crowned Sparrows that were also singing.

I received word and a photo from John Davis of a male Pine Warbler that is
being seen in the Big Valley Drive / Big Valley Place area of Rockrimmon
Subdivision of Colorado Springs and was given permission to share this
info. This skittish bird has been around for the last 3 weeks and

Dick Holliday reported that the Acorn Woodpecker, reported first by Marty
Wolf on December 15, was at his feeder yesterday, Sunday the 13th. He
lives just up the hill from the Sacred Grounds coffee shop along 1801

The 21st annual Fountain Creek Regional Park Winter Bird Count was held on
a rather cold morning starting with a sunny 12 degrees F ending with a
cloudy 23 F. Twenty-nine birders covered the roughly 400 acre park between
the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. with a few other birds seen

Not all the reports are in, but we had two great birds for a CBC in
Colorado. A female *Acorn Woodpecker* was observed by Marty Wolf's team
near the North Cheyenne Canyon area. A *Palm Warbler* found earlier in the

The female-type Long-tailed Duck and the male Barrow's Goldeneye were still
at Big Johnson Reservoir this morning. Both birds required some patience
to find, but gave very good views and then they disappeared most likely

Rise Foster-Bruder called me earlier today and informed me that the Dunlin
is still at the small reservoir mudflats on the sw corner of Stapleton and
Lambert in the ne sector of Falcon. I left work to chase the bird and it

Brad Tyler and I spend most of the day at Fountain Creek Regional Park,
with a short stop at Big Johnson Res. When we saw birds, we saw a whole
bunch of birds and the birding was fantastic. We could hardly keep up with
all the movement. At other times it was very quiet and slow. I

Fountain Creek Nature Center hosted what I believe was the 21st Annual Fall
Bird Count in Fountain Creek Regional Park this morning. Twenty-five
birder enthusiasts split into five teams and scoured the park between 7:30
and 10:30 a.m. and observed 78 or so species. While the number

Bear Creek Nature Center hosted a spring bird count in Bear Creek Regional
Park, Colorado Springs today. The weather was cool, around 50 degrees ,
with some sun at the beginning and rain at the end. Cold wind came midway

I spent all morning with a friend walking in and down into the Apishapa SWA
along the creek. We didn't have anything out of the ordinary, but we had

The Harris's Sparrow that was reported at Fountain Creek Nature Center in
posts earlier this winter, is usually present every day at the center,
