Does anyone have the flash plugin working?
I get the following error:
error: Failed dependencies:
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 is needed by flash-plugin-6.0.79-1
Is libc6 still supported?

Yes, I too had this. The work-around is to install kdm. Unfortunately,
installing kdm also ends up installing much of kde.

Oliver,
The source is still there. You need to use the --extract-only option. It
would appear that NVidia have done a good job in making the install much
easier for the average user. I use a custom kernel, and it
built/installed a new module without problem.

I am trying to compile NVidia drivers for Beta 3.
Unfortunately, It won't compile with the standard headers, and when I
use stock kernel source, I get module symbol errors (because the module
versioning is different).
Incidentally, I cannot "make menuconfig" on standard kernel source

I am trying to install Beta 3 on a machine with an Asus A7V8X
motherboard and a Athlon XP 1500 processor.
I have tried both graphical and text mode and it only gets as far as
uncompressing the kernel. It then hangs. I have also tried the
mem=nopentium option.

I too had problems with gcc3.2 on my twin Athlon MP system. The kernel
warns about:
kernel: Advanced speculative caching feature present
kernel: Disabling advanced speculative caching
So, it might just work now, but at the time, it crashed for me under I/O
load and sometimes while using X.
Like

"Using Samba 2.0.6 or greater" setting in the
options->preferences->advanced-options panel. Yes I am feeling a bit
silly. It would of course be nice to have this option checked by
default.

I'm not too impressed by Gnome 2 though. I'm used to using the

window manager for Gnome 2? It looks like Gnome 2 needs to mature.

Yes, I have observed this with all versions of OpenOffice that I have
tried. I think one of the things SUN do with StarOffice is give it some
decent TrueType fonts (compare under <*Office>/share/fonts/truetype/).
Unfortunately, due to copyright on fonts etc, good fonts costs money

Fortunately, kernel 2.4.17 automatically switches on the UDMA modes for me.
Is there any way of speeding up the "Checking for new hardware" bit. It
is the slowest individual task that occurs during booting (about 4-5
seconds).

All,
In Mandrake 8.0, xmovie was superb. I get an error when trying to open
mpeg 2 (SVCD) files -no supported codecs. It also reports the following
error when trying to open quicktime (.mov) files:
Trying to load external codec quicktime_codec_SVQ1.so
Can't load the codec

All,
I have a minor niggle with the mouse speed settings using
Gnome/Enlightenment. Because I use a high resolution, I need to increse
the mouse speed to maximum to be able to cover the whole screen
relatively easily.
However, although the setting itself is kept, it is not actioned the

I too had the network config hang and the cursor

on my PCG-Z600NE. You need to switch the hardware
cursor off using
'Option "sw_cursor"' in the XFconfig-4 file. Works
fine after that.
